Was going to post this on the Heavyweight sub, but it’s gone dark.
Via Heavyweight’s Twitter account:
Some exciting news: Heavyweight is back on all podcast platforms. This goes for the new season, too, which starts in September and will be available everywhere. Start polishing your earbuds. (Source)
Does this mean they’ve cut ties with Spotify? Will Bobby Lord and other Spotify layoffs come with Heavyweight? Regardless, this return to all platforms is great news.
Sounds like they overpaid for a bunch of podcasts and podcasts companies. And now they are hurting because a lot of listeners didn’t follow them…is that the gist of it?
They paid huge sums, In some cases $100 million plus contracts and they are just not get the paid subs that they were expecting. And now Spotify is trying to increase revenues by making it available through all apps, and making up the difference through advertising $$$? Just curious how screwed they are…
i’ve been listening to a youtuber named bedtime stories who does something similar to this, just a short introduction, and talks about the incident/tale. i’m super tired of having to hear two people joke about what they would do if something similar happens to them
Hello i really like true crime but i am frustrated that most of the true crime’s content mostly focus on the murderer and the victims and not the investigation for solving the mistery. I am not really interested to hear the private life of murderers all the time, and hearing about all the details of the life of the victim don’t interest me, and i hate how biaised the pereception of the victim’s life seem to be. I prefer the investigation and all the research done to solve the murder, rather that just about how good of the person the victim was and all the details of the life of the murderers that don’t have to do directly about the cases.
I am more interested in podcasts that talk about the investigators or detectives that solved the case, the investigation itself and all the domains that are used to solves murders and others cases.
Just looking for something to listen to when the rest of my feed just feels to intimidating to listen to
I’m looking for podcasts that cover disasters (either one per episode, like, “Episode 20: The Great Molasses Flood” or one big disaster for the whole show/season, like, “Collapse: Disaster in Surfside.”) And when I say disaster, I mean anything from hurricanes to bridge collapses to nightclub fires.
Most that I’ve tried are a little too monotone to get into. Suggestions?
I need a good cry hehe
No romcoms tho please 🤍
After watching the newest season of BM, I’d like suggestions on books that have that kind of theme. Something that’s creative(very out of the box), twisty, and unsettling!
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Thank you so much to everyone who suggested interesting reads! Now, my TBR is even longer than before lol.
I love books in the End of the World genre - zombies, asteroids and comets, AI uprisings, pandemics, nuclear wars, you name it. But one complaint I have is that way too many of of them either start well after the apocalypse, or else start with it, and then time jump to months or years later. (Not saying that all those books are bad, some of the best in the genre do that, just not what I’m looking for right now.) What I’m really interested in reading is books where people are dealing with the immediate consequences of the breakdown in society or other world ending event. Survival in the first few hours or days, not a year or decade later.
So, can anyone suggest any books where we don’t see a major time jump forward right after the apocalypse begins?
So I’ve been reading fairly regularly for like 3 years now, but I’m yet to experience something that is mind-blowingly good. Whenever I read a book it’s like good, okayish good or okayish bad. There are no very high highs and that is what I am looking for. Kinda like what depression medication does to you, it flattens the highs and lows. So I’m looking for something that will give me very a very high high. I want to fall in love with reading again. Red rising and farseer trilogy kinda did it for me. No particular genre preferances. Maybe something that gave you a similar feeling.
For example: if someone were to ask me my favourite book I would not be able to name one. there’s a bunch of stuff i like but there is no clear favourite. want to read a book that I can say is a favourite of mine
Just absolutely love that style, and can’t really get into stuff that doesn’t have these little tangents anymore. So, looking for some more books like Hitchhiker’s Guide and Good Omens.
I’ve definitely heard of plenty of people who others say fans of Adams and Pratchett would like, like Jasper Fford, David Wong, Catherynne Valente, etc., but really looking for stuff that doesn’t just have a similar tone, but definitely also the side tangents, as I think they’re the best part.

Every year for my friends birthday I purchase him the worst game I can find. Then we play it together over discord and laugh about it. It can be anything. Any genre, any developer, anything at all. The only caveat is that it has to have a way to easily run or be emulated on a windows computer.
Thanks!
Hello! Which of the recently games would you rate as 10 out of 10 and why? I’m just thinking of purchasing some new games and need good suggestions 👀 Thanks for the replies in advance and have a great day 🙌🏻
Edit: thank you so much to everyone for suggestions!!!! <3
I really enjoy building things in games but without a threat to what I’m building and a need to defend it my desire to build usually wanes.
Basically tower defense + Colony builder.
I’m very aware and have played Rimworld :D
Hi there. I’m 40 f. I’m not a gamer so I have limited idea. Because of health reasons I’m stuck and need bed rest so I’m gonna have a looot of time to kill and I wanna play a lot so I can escape from reality. Previously I have played life is strange and I enjoyed it a lot. What other games are there these days? I don’t wanna play Sims and I don’t like war games. Ps- I don’t have gaming devices like Xbox or ps4 etc. Anything that I can download on my pc please.
Edit: you guys are amazing!! I love this subreddit! Imma try each of the suggested games.
I have about 300 hours in Elite Dangerous, and most of that is grinding out my massive trader ship and stuffing it with cargo racks so I can buy and sell goods between different systems. I find it relaxing, fun, and I love watching the profits go up. But after so long, the numbers get bigger but I can’t really do much else with all of the money I make. I can grind out reputations and try to get a fleet carrier, but that doesn’t really interest me as its just a matter of doing the same thing over and over again, and just saving up for one big purchase at the finish line instead of feeling like I am making progress.
I would really love suggestions for games where I can focus on trading and being a merchant. I am not opposed to a multiplayer game, but I have already done this in WoW and OSRS already a good bit, I would love some other suggestions. Mainly looking for something I can do while listening to audio books.
