Based off the bimetal competition design Vacation, we’ve replicated it as closely as possible in a single material. Emphasizing the agility and rim weight competition yoyos are known for, while still maintaining a semi-organic shape dna. We love this Yoyo and can’t wait for you to try it.
Got some mail today. Here’s my first toss with the G squared Guardian. She’s big in the paws but she’s just right. Hope your day is awesome friends!
So far I have gotten better at brain twisters and i learned the zipper finally so decided to do a basic combo! Definitely can get a lot smoother with more practice.
I am slinging from Htown! I’d love to connect with some local enthusiasts on here likely🤠
Im sure this has been asked here a lot, but I haven’t seen it.
Similar to the question people always ask about TV shows and movies, which podcast was so enjoyable, interesting, informative, etc. that you would love to be able to listen to again for the first time?
Need to keep my mind occupied lately and I’ve sort of run through all the podcasts I’ve had on my list. I adored Bone Valley. Bear Brook. Your Own Back Yard. Someone Knows Something. Hunting Warhead. Lots of others too!
I’m not really into fiction, though I did recently enjoy Harvey in Hell.
Open to trying new things, too.
Not really in a comedy mood.
I’ve been listening to Burden of Guilt Season 3, which is on the iHeart Network, which is supposedly a totally human network (their words).
In several of this season’s episodes, the host, Nancy Glass says some people’s words are “voiced by actors”. But the voices have a strange intonation, which sounds very much like an AI text-to-speech program. There are no actor names in the show notes or on Glass Podcasts webpage.
Apart from the ethical issues of using AI, it’s pretty dishonest to say you are using actors when they are not human voices.
A friend and I have a 8-9 hour car drive and would like a good podcast rec. I loved Serial and Dr. Death. Nothing too gory or sexual or self help
It’s horrifying how these people got away with torturing and fundamentally changing the lives and minds of the unsuspecting, trusting general public.
What specific podcast episodes made you rethink, wonder, ponder, discuss with friends - basically took over your brain for a day or a week?
For me back listening to the Radiolab episode “Fact of the matter” in 2012 rewired my brain for a minute.
I’m in desperate need for brainfood for a club my friends and I started where we bring a podcast or article to discuss, challenge together.
Hope you can help me! Thank you!
I’m looking for a book that will absolutely wreck me. I don’t mean “that was sad 🥺.” I mean I want to be sobbing, staring at the wall afterward, questioning why I willingly did this to myself.
I want to get so attached to the characters that whatever happens to them feels personal.
I usually gravitate toward fantasy/romantasy — Fourth Wing is one of my favorites — but I’m completely open to other genres if the emotional payoff is there. Romance, fantasy, coming-of-age, literary fiction, whatever.
Bonus points for:
characters you become ridiculously attached to
found family
yearning/romance
grief or loss
a story that starts out making you feel safe and then absolutely betrays you
Give me the book that made you ugly cry. I want PAIN. 😭
I need to forget about the world for a while. And please give me context about that book you are recommending.
As the title says, looking for the craziest women out there. I want women who are evil for the sake of it. Ones who are cunning and manipulative and just so much fun to read about. I’m not trying to reduce these characters and know they are all more complex than what I’m stating but I think you get the gist. Was recommended Vanity Fair but I’m pretty intimidated by the page count ngl. Thanks ! If there’s similar characters in more modern books, very down to hear about them too !
Examples:
Cathy Ames in East of Eden (haven’t finished so no spoilers please!)
Mrs. Danvers in Rebecca
Lady Macbeth in Macbeth
Sorry this is broad. But I realize at 29 I know less stuff than I want to. Less about the world. Less about history. Less about everything. I’m sick of melting my brain on instagram reels and a constant barrage of social media slop.
So to preemptively answer the question, “what do you want to learn?”
Good jumping off points in book form to just feel less stupid and uninformed?
Non fiction (obviously)
currently going through a depressive episode. i’d appreciate some recommendations for books where the main character is depressed and someone i can relate to.
happy/hopeful endings would be nice but not necessary.
thank you in advance
edit: thank you all for the suggestions! i really appreciate it even if i won’t be able to read them all
I’m not 100% confident I’m assigning the genre correctly, but I seem to be really drawn to stories that are based in reality, but something’s weird or different. I’m a bit tired of more traditional high-fantasy, although I do love it!
My favourite book is Piranesi, which may sit far on the magical end of this spectrum. I also enjoyed the memory police and midnight library. Although I wasn’t the biggest fan of yesteryear, I think it fits what I’m looking for as well.
I’m not really interested in romance or a love story, which I think is the reason why I’ve been having a bit of trouble adding to my want to read list (and also why I haven’t picked up Katabasis yet).
Would love to hear of any books in this vein that you’ve enjoyed!
Especially when you’re asked not to. When you recommend something that isn’t even out yet, you’re basically doing an ad for the game, because we have no idea how the game is gonna turn out.
What’s more, remember how much of a disaster Assasins Creed Unity was? We never know when a company is gonna pull this.
Edit: I admit the problem that I made here, my example post was where not that many people recommended something that isn’t out yet. It doesn’t change the fact that it happens a lot, and I wish that it happened less, which was my main point.
Example - Braid.
I hope this isn’t too vague, but I’m looking for a video game where the core mechanics just feel fucking satisfying, slick and cathartic. For me, the best example of this is Donkey Kong: Bananza. The feeling of smashing things is just so damn satisfying. Are there any other video games you found to have incredibly satisfying, slick mechanics?
Been trying to find a game that has an insane story that shouldn’t work at all but does anyways. I’m not talking some well-thought out, beautifully written stuff like Disco Elysium or Expedition 33; I’m talking like a game that could be used as evidence in court to prove the developers were using illegal substances.
Some games that I think nailed this for me were: Kingdom Hearts, Zero Escape/Danganronpa (basically any visual novel honestly), 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim, AI: The Somnium Files, or Inscryption, etc.
One thing all of these games had in common is I never once stopped thinking “What the fuck??” and I’m really looking for that again.
I’m hoping some of you will have good recommendations I haven’t heard of
So my main game has been Marathon and still is but with the delay in the update until December i obviously want to have something else to play during that time so i don’t just get burnt out of playing the same content even longer since there really won’t be anything new until the Huge Update in December. What is another Extraction Shooter i would LOVE? The thing i love about Marathon is the visuals, guns, gameplay, honestly just the entire environment/theme of the game. And also how satisfying the progression is, i never played any Extraction Shooter until Marathon and im in love with the genre or at least i think i am😂It scratches my itch of playing a Looter Shooter but also sort of better in a way? Anywho whats a second extraction shooter i can also play aside from Marathon? PvP or PVE doesn’t matter, i love both.
Basically what the title says!
I’m looking for some RPG/Adventure type games that include romance as a possible optional (or encouraged) feature.
The only things I’m finding on Steam anymore are, well, outright sex simulators that aren’t to my liking.
I do prefer rated M games, but I’d rather the whole thing NOT be solely about having sex / dating as many characters as you can.
Some games I’ve played, that include romance (either naturally OR MODDED), are..
TES: Skyrim (Kaidan mod and others)
Dragon Age (Origins thru Veilguard)
Stardew Valley
Rimworld (modded for flavor text / interactions)
Crusader Kings: 3 (modded for flavor text / interactions)
Baldur’s Gate III
Mass Effect franchise
Fallout Franchise
Divinity Original Sin / original sin II
Medieval Dynasty (not preferred- would like more depth)
Dark Deity: II
Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga
Arcadie: Second-Born (I DO like text based games, but it’s hard to find anything not just “fade to black”)
Basically I do want a bit of …
Just wanted to share this setup. When my battery hits 10%, my iPhone takes a photo with the back camera and sends it through Messages. If I lose my phone right before it dies, I might get a photo of where it ended up.
You can include your location in the message too, or take a video and send it by email. I picked 10%, but you can set the battery level wherever you like.
If you’re always losing your phone around the house, Sound Recognition might be a more useful trigger. You could have the phone play a loud sound instead.
For reference, I set this up on iOS 27. “Run Immediately” is on, “Show Compose Sheet” is off, and it worked when I tested it with the phone locked.
I’ve tried a bunch of budgeting apps and always quit after two weeks, not because the apps were bad, but because typing every coffee into a form is a chore nobody keeps up.
So I set up an Automation: every time one of my cards is charged with Apple Pay, a Shortcut fires and POSTs the amount to a small web app I wrote. Tap the card reader, and 4 seconds later the expense is already there. No typing, no opening anything.
The Shortcut itself is about as simple as it gets: Get contents of URL, POST, an Authorization header with a key, and the amount, card name and description from the Wallet trigger. The one thing that took me a while to figure out: you have to leave the phone unlocked for about 5 seconds after paying, or iOS kills the Shortcut before the request goes out.
Here’s the Shortcut: Shortcut Link. It’s pointed at my own endpoint, so to use it you just change the URL to wherever you want the data to go and put your own key in the Authorization header. Nothing …
I have 24 automations, one set to run at the start of each hour of the day. Since upgrading to iOS 27 this notification that’s pictured above appears about once an hour telling me about these automations.
To be clear, I don’t want to disable my own automations. My automations and shortcuts are NOT sending this unneeded notification. These unneeded notifications appear about 15 to 20 minutes after each automation runs and apparently are sent by the Apple Shortcuts app itself.
The iPhone volume buttons jump too far for me — one press too loud, one press too quiet, never just right. Especially noticeable when playing through a speaker.
So I made a shortcut that adjusts the volume by exactly 1% per tap. I added the +1% and −1% versions to Control Center, and now I can fine-tune the volume precisely.
[ 1% UP ]

[1% DOWN ]

To add it to Control Center: open Control Center → long-press → Add a Control → Shortcuts → choose the shortcut. I keep both the +1% and −1% buttons side by side.
Hope it’s useful to fellow picky listeners!
I just changed my action button from silent mode to a shortcut menu but I’m having trouble finding good shortcuts to put in there
