Not necessarily the best-told story, just the best story.
For me, Sweet Bobby and (basic pick but just mental) Laura of the Woods from Radio Rental.
Hi, this was the first comedy podcast that I’ve actually found funny. I’m looking for some similar ones now that I’ve completed it. Are there any other mystery comedies?
Preferably British/kiwi/Aussie please. I liked how serious they took such a ridiculous topic, how they got all of their friends in as witnesses/suspects, roping in actual professionals, the parts where they have reality hit and break character because of how silly it is lol but still fully committing to the bit. My favourite was Lauren Kilby so something with that sense of humour.
I know they have a new season coming out but not sure when!
Thanks in advance for any recs!
I just listened to Rabbit Hole and it was incredibly relatable. Does Qanon Anonymous do a good job covering the subject matter?
Hi r/Podcast fans. I love scary podcasts, but some days I find true crime too depressing - I like creepy, scary things but I don’t necessarily want to spend the rest of the day thinking about how horrible a crime victim’s last moments might have been or how badly it impacted their families, etc :( (Like I can listen to it sometimes and there are TC podcasts I love, but some days I’m just not emotionally insulated enough to cope with the details)
There’s a great podcast based on the Lets Not Meet subreddit, where people share true stories of creepy real-life encounters. It’s always told by the people it happened to, so even if they were a bit shaken up, you know they essentially came out of it ok.
I used to listen to the Radio Rental podcast, but I feel like the quality of the stories declined since season 1 (though I thought s1 was excellent). Also used to listen to Lets Read but they started including a lot of true crime lately. I’m not really …
I want something that will make me laugh. I’ve been listening to true crime and some darker-than-I-usually-listen-to fiction so I need something funny. I don’t mind if it’s scripted or unscripted, as long as it’s comedic!
I’m looking to expand my library. I just discovered ‘Death in the Garden’ which at a glance looks perfect, and now am on a hunt for more!
I just finished 1984, and to be honest, I also finished Animal farm right after it. Both the books were interesting and I quite liked them. However, It had an impact on me and now I am feeling kind of sad and pessimistic about things. I honestly don’t know how to express it…
However, it’d be great if you people could suggest me a book that will make me feel the opposite of what I am feeling right now about society and the world. Thanks in advance!
I’m kind of in a rut, very apathetic and have lost all the motivation to do anything. I want to lose myself, feel hopeful again, just feel something more.
So any book recommendations for me? Books that can move me, make me appreciate. Classics preferred but I’m open to all.
A book that stuck with you. I don’t necessarily mean in a sad way, but in a beautifully transformative way.
Here are two of my examples : the Kite Runner and the Book Thief.
I want to start off by saying that, even though I am no psychiatrist, I do not believe I am depressed or struggling with any deep mental illness. I am actually in ok mood and mostly satisfied with where I am at.
I’ve done everything I was supposed to do: I got a good degree from a good college, I found a good job, I live in the city I want to live, I have a nice girlfriend whom I love, I have supporting friends, some hobbies, a loving family, eat well, read a bit, listen to music… In the past I have also been a bit crazy, revelled, travelled, partied, you name it.
However, I see myself supposedly “achieving” a good life, and I can’t stop but think to myself: “Is this it? Is this really what my life is going to be like? Going to an 8-5 job only to come home to clean the dishes? Like is this actually it?”
I hate to complain, I feel like a spoiled brat and I know there are people actually struggling. I am just finding the whole situation I am …
If you have ever read Embassy Town or Speaker for the Dead, sort of like that.
I don’t really like a “who done it” mystery, but more of a deep mysterious truth of real life I discover alongside the characters.
Edit: I can’t really reply to all of you, but thank you all for the vast selection I now have to choose from. I’ve been really trying to get back into reading, but could never quite find books that interested me. You all have been a great help
I’m looking for books that aren’t neccesairly about dreams itself but books where the events are ruled by dream logic. I’m talking about atmosphere simmilar to David Lynch’s movies. Any reccomendations?
Used to be good at this. Going to test my skills
Edit: Sorry daughter wanted to play in her pool outside haha I’m answering as fast as I can :)
Edit 2: just got my daughter to bed. I’ll be at my PC soon. I’ll get through as many as I can. Good God I was not expecting this many. Thanks for the challenges. Hopefully I’m at least giving some of yall something to think about
Edit 3: I’m still going :) I’ll try to answer every single one. I had work today which slowed me down
For me it’s definitely Outer Wilds. No game has had the same impact on me. Beware spoilers and go in blind and curious.
In your opinion, what games would you call a “masterpiece” of the video game medium and why?
Any genre and platform e.t.c. applies here.
Games that are so difficult that they make you cry or rage quit. Ala dark souls, metro, battle brothers, xcom.. I just want to feel the pain of having to lose your whole squad to an orc or special enemy type.
In most games you play as one of the following:
-A chosen hero who must save the world
-A soldier or agent acting under some kind of guild, kingdom, agency, organization, etc.
-Someone forced to travel due to circumstances like crime, poverty, politics, danger, etc.
I’m looking for a game where you go on adventures freely and willingly out of your own interest. Bonus points for giving the player a feeling of isolation while far away from civilization.
The only example I can think of is Dragon Warrior 7 where the player controls group of curious kids traveling and changing the world uncovering its mysteries without any support from their home kingdom, barely getting recognition after each bad guy defeated and disappearing off to their next adventure. At least early on. Eventually the story has you discovering you’re a chosen one and defeating Satan… oh well.
Like the title said, my kid is in the hospital starting chemo. We have a Switch, but some of his usual favourite games (Minecraft, Tears of the Kingdom) are a tough for him to control and the first person view seems to aggravate his nausea.
Can anyone recommend some games that are not too jumpy, with simpler right handed controls, and possibly multiplayer so we can play together?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Thank you all so much for the amazing suggestions and words of encouragement
