Hey guys, trying to build an automation to get notified to charge AirPods once battery is below X.
For some reason it doesn’t work - when I open the AirPods, the automation pops up and asks if I want to run it, and then it doesn’t show any notification like to charge.
How do I fix it? And is there a way to run it without me clicking run this automation?
Thanks!
Hi guys,
New to the sub and shortcuts. Ever since ChatGPT came out, I wanted Safari extension for iOS to summarize web articles when I am lazy to read the whole page.
So I came upon shortcuts and loved it, and wrote my first page summarizing shortcut that turns page into Tweet Threads using Official ‘Ask ChatGPT’ shortcut.
Since it uses official shortcut of ChatT, you need to have Official OpenAl ChatGPT iOS app installed. (Note that it won’t work on MacOS.)
How to use:
Make sure ChatGPT app is installed.
Add Shortcut
While on Safari, click Share
Scroll all the way down and click SafariGPT
It will take around 30-40 seconds.
Since it utilizes ChatGPT app, the summary will be available in you conversion history as well.

Sorry I’m advance for any spelling/ grammar errors, English is not my native Language.
I tried automating ChatGPT via shortcuts, so that I get an automated Meal Plan with recipes every Monday at a certain time. I have my input Prompt in a Note and I’m trying to get it into ChatGPT and get a note with the output saved in my folder. In the Picture you can see my automation and shortcut chain. I’m super new to this and I a hundred percent am trying this completely naiv and with a wrong approach, so I would be super happy if somebody could give me some insight / and or help me with what I want to do. Thanks in advance !
Hey everyone
I thought I’d pass along my enhanced laundry timer, designed to assist fellow forgetful souls with ADHD (and anyone else who might benefit from it).
This shortcut will notify you via voice and notification when your laundry is finished. Afterward, it will inquire if you’ve completed the task, started a new load, or need another 15-minute voice and notification reminder. You’re allowed to postpone unloading the laundry machine only twice after which it will force you to unload the wash (figuratively, of course) and prompts you if you added another load or are all finished.
Feel free to check out the shortcut here:

I searched for this exact shortcut to no avail and ended up making it myself! Wanted to share to help out anyone else who uses this method to clean up their gallery. This is my first time making a shortcut and the final product is a combination of some “photo time machine” & “photo cleanup” shortcuts from this page mixed with my own trial and error, so if you improve on it please share in the comments.

Does anyone know a shortcut action that can take images from my photos and „scan“ them so it’s auto straightened, cropped and brightened like in Apple’s notes app? I would love to send a photo via share sheet to that shortcut and receive the straightened version back. Thanks in advance!
The podcast You’re Wrong About covered Sinead O’Connor in April of this year and if you don’t know much about her, or if you think you know about her but only remember the controversy, I hope you will listen to this episode.
I’ve heard all the episodes of the podcasts I just mentioned, and may go back to the very beginning and listen again, but I’m wondering if there are others like these. Nothing loud, nothing with raucous laughter … just something interesting and soothing to listen to.
Nearly every podcast I listen to ask for rates and reviews on apple podcasts. I don’t use Apple and I have no intention of ever signing up to use apple products. Is there an alternative where everyone can leave reviews and rate them that is not tied to a specific company like Apple or Google or anyone can search without having to join a specific ecosystem like that?
Starting to struggle to find good podcast series at the moment, I’ve absolutely rinsed This American Life, I’ve listened to every Serial productions podcast (some series multiple times).
I like learning about nonfiction stories, from the past or present, but I can’t stand two things 1. Very plain / rigid spoken voice actors 2. Anything involving true crime where the speaker dramatises things / seems to be enjoying making it spooky or entertaining
For anyone else looking at this with a similar taste and wanting recs here are some of mine:
Bear Brook, In The Dark, The Retrievals, The Trojan Horse Affair, Dr. Death, The Rest Is History, The Shrink Next Door, The Dropout
Edit: Thank you for all the reccs, so happy to have found people with a similar taste and now I have a packed list to listen to next! Just started “My Year In Mensa”, next up is Heavyweight!
I listen to a lot of podcasts about politics, society, psychology etc and a lot of them are about topics that are negative. They have their place but I’m trying to be a more positive person. Do you know of podcasts that aren’t about positivity/happiness but have a positive tone?
I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for podcasts that talk about urban legends and folklore, but not exactly what I’m looking for. I’d basically like the site Snopes, but in podcast form - more debunking and deconstructing the how, why, and who of urban legends than “ooh, isn’t this spooky!” storytelling stuff.
The podcast American Hysteria has several episodes that fit and I enjoyed, like the one about poisoned Halloween candy, but I’ve rolled through all the ones that were along the lines of what I’m after, which are thorough breakdowns of “This is the urban legend you’re familiar with, this is the truth behind it, and this is why the urban legend exists from a societal standpoint.”
“You’re Wrong About” also had one episode that was exactly what I wanted (“Urban Legends Spectacular!”) but I’d really like more.
EDIT after listening to a handful of episodes of podcasts recommended in …
There was something in Darcy and Elizabeth that I can’t describe. I need something similar asap or I may reread the book and rewatch the movie endlessly like a maniac.
Okay I might be exaggerating stuff. But you got me right?
By similar I mean a book with a male lead like Darcy, proud and arrogant yet loves the female lead against his better judgement, against his family background and the inferiority of her birth (lol, how I laughed at this).
Or a female lead like Elizabeth, whose courage increases at every attempt to intimidate her.
Note: apologies for any mistakes. English is not my first language.
My brother had a daughter a couple months ago (I’m an uncle!) and I’m making her a bookshelf that I’m going to fill with all my favorite books. The rest of the family has already inundated him with actual toddler/baby/children books, but I want to give my brother some better material to read to her, or a stock of ‘serious’ books that challenge and stimulate a young readers mind. She might not read them any time soon, but they’ll be there for her when she gets old enough to be curious.
What books do you think are absolutely essential for someone’s bookshelf? (Excluding explicit and mature content, please). The age range can be anywhere from 7yo-teen I guess, that’s sort of the target I’m trying to shoot for.
I already plan to put the following:
Any other books you all suggest that …
..The Housemaid + Verity
I hate everything about Colleen Hoover’s books and I don’t like Frieda McFadden’s teen writing style. Read all of Gillian Flynn’s books too.
Recommendations for DARK and actually psychological thrillers? That don’t revolve around (sigh) attractive irresistible women?
ETA: So many great recommendations, thank you!!
I want to feel cold sorry summer at my place is killing me. Bonus if it has gothic vibes / GRRM’s Winterfell-like appeal. Prose has to be good.
Now, I have already read a lot of books and here’s a list of stuff I liked and didn’t like -
liked - Everything by Daphne Du Maurier, The north water, The terror, ASOIAF series
Did not like - Mexican gothic, Moon of the crusted snow, The shining
Note- it doesn’t have to be about a raging feminist, I’m talking more along the lines of being posted that without choice or permission I was born in to this world a female.
I’m open to any genre, my only thing is I don’t like too much gore or violence. I’d preferred there to be no self harm but if it’s worth it I’ll try it.
I saw a listicle with suggestions and Gone Girl was in there but I tried to read that book years ago and DNFed it
Thanks!
Usually read thriller and horror. Already read Piranesi. Wouldn’t mind delving into more fantasy.
I want to become someone, like Arthur in red dead redemption 2. Just live a completely different life and forget about mine entirely. If I hadnt already played the crap out of Red Dead 2 it would be exactly what I was looking for. A story, love, sadness, so many things other than the main mission to do to help better immerse myself like hunting and collecting things.
I’m open to anything but in my head Im wishing i could play RDR2 again for the first time.
Just trying to get over the worst heartbreak in my 28 years of existence the only way I know how sober. Thanks in advance..
4 months ago, I met a new friend in church. She is disabled. Wheelchair bound. Not only that, her worse than usual immune system paired with depression due to traumatic life circumstances (which caused her disability) made travel for her exhausting at best, and impossible at worst.
A week ago, I bought her Firewatch, the game about exploring the Wyoming wilderness and solving a mystery. I went to her house to play it with her. Sometime during the gameplay, I fell asleep on her couch. I woke up to see her with both hands on her chin, staring longinly with tears in her eyes as the morning broke in the forest.
Since then, I’ve wanted to find her games in which she can explore real world places. Essentially, I’m looking for games as close to the description: “Google maps walking simulator.” as possible. A game where you can just walk around and enjoy the view. I know I could probably just use google earth and random drop street view anywhere, but an interactive …
Most gaming stories tend to bore me, trying so hard to live up to movies that I think… why don’t I just watch a movie? They’re better written anyhow. So what I’d really like is to see games that could NEVER be done in a novel or film. It’s not a great example, but think of a horror game like Silent Hill. This genre in particular is more effective in a game compared to a movie because you’re the one experiencing the horror. I’m not asking for horror, though, just anything that uses the interactivity of the medium in a strong way.
For me, it was shadow warrior 2. I bought it because it has pretty decent reviews. It was horrible. For me this game is 1⁄10. Repetitive enemies, boring story, unlikable characters, but worst of all, unfunny jokes that just repeat over and over because the main character’s name is Wang. For example: “Mess with the bull, you get the WANG!” and “This is my rifle, this is my WANG!”
Please recommend me the most life crippling/addiction inducing game you can offer. I’ve had my PC for a few months now and I’ve tried a few games, (HOI4, Factorio, LOL, Valorant, OW, and a TON more) none of these games were really fun, and after like 2 hours of gameplay I couldn’t even force myself to pick it up again. I used to be a avid gamer growing up, and now it seems like I can’t even sit down for more than a hour playing a game. Please, please, I have endless free time, give me your worst.
