I’m not sure if anyone has exactly mentioned it yet, but I found out that if you get a small keyboard extension and set a certain combination of keys as shortcuts, you will have a very affordable physical button that activates any shortcut you want with a Bluetooth connection as an alternative. ^^
Details on how to set it up: 1. Go to [Commands] in [Full Keyboard Access] on your ios device: [Settings] -> [Accessibility] -> [Keyboard & Typing] -> Full Keyboard Access -> [Commands]. 2. Create your own combination of keys in it for the shortcut you prefer. (remember to scoll down for a bit) 3. Get a small keyboard extension and set the keys as the ones you need to use in the combination for activating the shortcut. 4. Connect the keyboard extension to your iOS device via Bluetooth. Then it’s done!
Why I think it’s nice for me (maybe not for all of you): It’s affordable. Where I live, I can get this small keyboard extension for less than 5usd. I …
Curious if anyone else leverages Shortcuts to make life less cluttered?
Just a simple shortcut to set your iPhone’s volume to the absolute minimum. I find it useful at night, when even the lowest default volume can feel too loud, especially if you’re next to someone.

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share a series of shortcuts that I recently built and have found useful. This is a set of commands that can be executed from a single menu that pops up when I connect to my cars Bluetooth (I keep my phone on a mount, no CarPlay). You select multiple menu items and the order of the menu is the order in which the commands will execute.
This lets me select “Send ETA”, “Navigate To Home”, and “Open Spotify” which will announce my ETA to my home address, ask if I want to text it to a specific person, then start Google Maps navigation to my home, and finally opens Spotify so I can select what I want to listen to and simply swipe back to Google Maps.
Let me explain each shortcut.

Is an absolute masterpiece, oh my god. I finally started it last night and signed the whole thing. I spent so long ignoring it whenever it was recommended in threads, and for WHAT?!
I saved the final episode to listen to as I opened at work this morning. Knew it was a bad idea, did it anyway, cried at work.

I’m in search of a Podcast for a 5 hour road trip with my husband and 2 20yr old sons. Normally I listen to true crime, but they asked me to find something that’ll have us laughing so hard we cry! 😂 Prefer something that’ll last the drive and my be son prefers no deep accents from the people (he finds some of them hard to understand sometimes). Thanks for any suggestions
Hey y’all, my dad has been recovering from a major leg surgery for about a week and we are looking for podcasts to listen to together. I want to spend more time with him, and he’s been watching too much Comedy Central since coming home. We’ve been listening to a cute podcast called BirdNote Daily which is exactly what you think it is — a daily podcast about birds. But every episode is so short, and I prefer longer, more conversational episodes. We are looking for wholesome, longer podcasts to listen to. SFW podcasts only (he has been staying with my grandma, who is very old and I don’t want her to be upset by anything she might hear in them).
Here are some podcasts we already like but do not listen to together:
I (22F) really like Bureau of Lost Culture and Nothing Much Happens.
I know he likes WTF with Marc Maron and Reply All.
…if that helps.
Thanks in advance!
I don’t post many podcast reviews, but The Outlaw Ocean was a standout for me when it came out a couple years ago. Definitely some harrowing stuff out there on the high seas, and pretty incredible immersive storytelling / journalism.
Anyway, it looks like S2 is starting with a three-parter on the Mediterranean / Libya and I found all three parts on CBC’s YouTube, which is more than Overcast is serving up to me at the moment: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuMdLmjdG8ddk0s9VNQNDJC-_54-jw7Yv
I just started listening to Pipeline (heard the ad through the daily mail trial of Erin Patterson) and wow, I am 2 episodes in and I had chills.
I just wanted to let everyone know about this so you can listen to this too as I haven’t seen any posts about it.
It’s about men who got stuck in an oil pipe in Trinidad and Tobago.
I don’t remember any news articles about this so I am listening with no knowledge and the production and story telling has been incredible
If anyone else has any similar recommendations please let me know!
im looking for a book that really gets to you—not because something tragic happens, but because it’s quietly beautiful in a way that stays with you. the kind that feels a little lonely, a little wistful, and somehow makes you cry just from how deeply it resonates. something with haunting prose, emotional depth, and that soft ache you carry even after the last page.
I’m in the mood to read ANYTHING. Suggest something with a fantastic title. No other context is necessary, I’ll just pick one with a title that wow’s me
I’m looking to reignite my love of reading with a thoughtful, informative book. Is there a book you read before that stuck with you or you’re currently reading you could recommend? Political, historical, societal…it could be anything! Thank you.
Any suggestions for books that gripped you from first to last page?
A book so good that you keep reading it again and again
I just read it in a day, in one sitting. I loved it. I got teary eyed and upset at things that I don’t even really understand. Like wow. I kinda feel like someone scooped my guts out. I feel like I’ll never feel this way again and will only feel this way from now on. This book goes to the top of the genre for me. It’s the best of all it’s peers lMO.
I had never heard of it before and only seen it suggested in this subreddit multiple times. Maybe there’s just like one or two of you who comment suggesting it all the time. I don’t know. But THANK YOU THANK YOU. It’s just cuz of you all that I picked it up. And it’s been forever since a book made me feel anything like this.
Now…. Any more suggestions???? 😀
Lately, I’ve realized that I’ve lost my passion for video games. The excitement I used to feel when playing just isn’t there anymore, and I often find myself getting bored quickly or quitting after just a few minutes. I miss the feeling of being fully immersed in a game, excited to explore its world or complete its challenges. If you have any recommendations for a game that could reignite that spark and help me fall in love with gaming again, I’d really appreciate it.
I’m tired of playing as characters that are “chosen” or “the one that’s going to save the world”. I’d love to find a game where you’re a regular guy partaking in a story that happens around you, without you. The less important you are to the big conflict or overall world, the better.
I tried to make it work with Skyrim and ignore the Dragonborn shit, but every story and side quest feels lifeless.
I almost got it while playing as the alien races in No Man’s Sky, but every npc talks to you as if you’re the only sentient being in creation. The appearance you take means nothing to them, and it feels lifeless.
RDR2 Online is probably the closest I’ve gotten, as you’re just a guy trying to make money. But it’s severely lacking in content. The mission options that aren’t locked behind paywalls are repetitive, and I have more than enough hours in it.
I prefer games that give you freedom. Open worlds, survivals, or rpg types are what I usually stick to. And I don’t care for anything …
I’m looking for a game that feels like playing WoW or FFXIV but in singleplayer, preferably with these features:
Examples:
Just looking for games where you can eventually become an unkillable tanky beefy guy. The best example I could give would be getting super strong in League of Legends on tanks, where you can build items to pretty much kill people who stand right next to you or builds around garlic in vampire survivors, this sadly misses the tanky part though. Any genre besides first person shooters is alright.
I’d like some recommendations for games that I can leave running while I work. For example, in Factorio, the factory keeps running in the background. Dwarf Fortress or RimWorld also work because they automatically pause if something important happens. I’m not looking for idle games.
