I’ve seen all fun ideas you guys have, but none of them are REALLY locking app. Passcode - cool, timer - fascinating. Here’s something I’ve discovered.

You can actually access apps through URL, it’s much faster and better than “Open App” function AND works with Automation.
You’ll just need to setup basic Automation for desired app and when it opens cute lil lock screen pops up.
!The reason I’m not using “Open App” function because it’s bad for Automation. So when you open an app, Automation plays, after IDing you, it calls for an “Open App” function (that means you opened that app again) - so it becomes a loop and Shortcuts stops this shortcut from executing. We don’t need that, do we?

You’ll just need to set your timer’s setting …
Hey guys , when I set up automation to Turn Off Orientation Lock when YouTube is opened
But when I set it to turn the Lock On when closed it doesn’t work …
Anyone know the fix ?
I currently have it set to the default mute switch, mainly because I don’t have many shortcuts.
I’m hoping people have developed shortcuts to give the button a selection. It’s not super useful at the moment where you can only long press, rather than assign different shortcuts for one, two or three presses. I’m sure a shortcut could be created to give the user an option of several shortcuts when the button is pressed?
Thanks.
Pretty sure everyone else had already done this but just in case; consider adding volume adjustments to your sleep focus mode or evening routine or whatever automations you run before bed.
At about 2:30 this morning I clicked a YouTube link with the intention of saving it to watch later but it auto played. Volume was only at 15% but my SO and the dog are now just as awake as I am… if y’all don’t ever hear from me again just know that I’ve been rightfully murdered. lol.
i stuck them on the inside of my dry foods cupboard door for quick access, i’ve also got them stuck to things like the toilet paper holder, salt pepper tea coffee etc. real adhd hack.
There are many people that their daily shift at work doesn’t follow a specific pattern. These users are forced to create one or more (one time) alarms for the next day, each day.
As a result, their clock app is getting filled up with useless disabled non repeating alarms with every new working day.
The following shortcut is a very simple common shortcut for creating an Alarm (or a series of Alarms) for the next day. Its uniqueness is that it deletes all previous disabled (used) Alarms keeping the Clock app nice and clean.
Most important thing is that it doesn’t affect Alarms created manually or by other Shortcuts.
Of course it can also be used for any other general purpose.
Shifter Shortcut.
His grandpa who he was very close to passed today. On the drive there he wants something hilarious to keep him upbeat and distracted the drive there and back (total of 24 hours).
He doesn’t really enjoy podcasts and has a short attention span, but when we drive sometimes we will try different ones out. The only one we’ve both liked so far is “We’re Here to Help” with Jake johnson and Gareth Reynolds. Nonstop laughter.
There aren’t very many episodes out so we need some more recs. Prefer ones that don’t drag a subject out suuuupppper long, that make you laugh out loud, and ones that are about something. He enjoys stand up comedy which isn’t really about anything, but it’s not really my jam. I like it when it’s about something, a story, gossip, history- but if it’s too slow and doesn’t make you laugh enough he doesn’t enjoy it. “We’re here to help” has been our happy compromise. Any others like it?
If you can’t think of any, good stand up comedy recs are great too, his preference is …
For me, it’s absolutely Ten Percent Happier with Dan Harris.
His ability to interview and maintain a delicate balance between deeply spiritual and intellectual conversations with self-deprecating humor is unmatched.
The topic’s center around mindfulness in a secular sense, but always veer a little off course into other areas of life.
I feel Dan has the ability to ask questions no one else is asking the same guest and getting people off onto other interesting topics.
I walk away from every episode with some new nugget of personal insight or a renewed sense of calm or “not aloneness” that I didn’t have before.
Each show could easily be three hours and I will still listen to then all.
Curious to hear other responses :-)
keen to hear everyone’s thoughts as I know there will be a lot of different ones! ☺️
I feel a bit spoiled because the internet is just more entertaining than the average person
Hiya :)
I am feeling overwhelmed at work and am looking for light escapist, wholesome and mildly funny podcasts.
Ideally nothing that is: 1. Too frat bro-ey. I don’t really enjoy sexual humour. 2. Political or ‘stuff you should know’ kind of vibe. I do enjoy these normally but honestly at the moment am looking for things where I don’t feel like I am learning. 3. Fiction - I can’t commit to a series, and prefer casual chatting kind of shows. 4. Please, no crime or blood/ disturbing content.
I loved heavyweight and have listened to a few similar serial podcasts - what are your favourite wholesome shows?
A year and a half ago Reply All attempted to do story on Bon Appétit and its workplace conditions before it was revealed that Reply All itself had many of the same issues perpetrated by the people covering the Bon Appétit story, PJ Vogt and Sruthi Pinnamaneni. Since then, it felt like there was a fallout and Alex and Emmanuel, the co-hosts, came forward and talked about their own negative experiences, and the show slowed then stopped shortly after.
I was expecting another show from Emmanuel and maybe others from the original show, but I wasn’t expecting PJ to be back. Did he address the issues? Did he reach some kind of understanding with the Reply All team? Or did Spotify just throw this promo on the Reply All feed and it has nothing to do with the original team?
The actual episode and premise of his new show, Search Engine, are pretty good. Just feels weird listening to him after everything that happened over at Reply All.
That book for me was Flowers for Algernon. I haven’t been able to find anything that moved me like that since. Anyone have any recommendations for me?
Anything with tons of plot holes, a deux ex machina ending, unlikeable characters, no character development, nothing driving the plot forward, or any book that generally feels like it was thrown together?
I have been using Libby and my Audible credits have stacked up! I just canceled and was told I need to use all credits before the next payment would have been due 🥲 I am buying all of the books. Tell me what you love!
Something that feels like a fever dream.
EDIT: Hi everyone. Thank you so much for all the book suggestions. I’ve added quite a few to my list. I’m incredibly grateful to those that sent kind words. I am working on responding, but I am reading each reply and looking at every book suggestion. Really, thank you.

Sorry, this is a bit dark.
My dad died from cancer when I was 13 years old. I didn’t really understand death at the time and I had never heard of cancer until he was diagnosed that year. I’m curious about what he must have been thinking and feeling during his moments when he was diagnosed to his last moments. I wish I was smart enough to ask him more questions at that time.
Is there a book where someone talks about their experiences either as the one with cancer or a family member who watches a loved one go through it? Probably as a coping mechanism, I’ve blocked out a huge part of my childhood and I can hardly remember anything.
I currently have on my list the memoir, …
I’m NOT a reader, unfortunately, and I must say I am not happy about that. I know that nowadays reading books is IMPIRTANT. Believe it or not, I really don’t know what kind of books I’m interested in. Please share with me how you became a reader.
Thank you!
I always loved gaming, but never had the fund for a decent setup, so I sink thousand of hours into games like Heroes 3, Age of Empires 3, GTA San Andreas, World of Warcraft, League of Legends, several low-tier older MMORPG-s, and browser games. I’m financially at a better place now, so I surprised myself with a good custom built PC, it have a Ryzen 5600 and an RTX3070. What games should I put on my wishlist from the last ~10 years, that were absolutely bangers and are must play? My favourites are games with huge and well detailed open world, and city builders (like AoE3).
For now, my list is the following:
Red Dead Redemption 2 (already bought it)
Witcher 3 (with DLC-s)
Hogwarts Legacy
Starfield
GTA5
Elden Ring
Dark Souls 3
Fallout 4
Age of Empires 4
hello there,
I actually am not fond of horror games, but my friends insist that i should try some. That said, i actually kind of dislike games in which you are helpless and your only option is to hide and run. so i want a horror game where you have weapons with which you can defend yourself, or at least craft traps or trick monsters, or do something.
I’m thinking something like L4D 2 maybe, if that even counts as horror.
I also don’t like unnecessary jump scares, if it makes sense then fine, but games that capitalize on scares only really turns me off.
I know i might be asking too much and too specific, but I’m just trying to properly introduce myself to this genre
Hi, what are some games that actually thought you something.
wither it’s a skill or maybe history, somethings like that for pc.

Hi. I kinda know that despite of nowadays shorter time frames, It is weird to find games that literally want you to waste time on a grind hell (apart from freemium / ingame currency as in mobile games). But I was curious if you guys could bring any game to the table that is old school grindy (as in demanding plenty implication by the player) but somehow enjoyable, never ever suggesting shortcuts via paying real money or similar, rather games that are grindy in their nature, but enjoyably grindy. Example that comes to mind: first gen Monster Hunter games. Not a big fan of RNG though, but there must be some games where theres no real goal, rather a grindy game loop that is entertaining by itself :V
EDIT: List of suggestions
-Terraria / calamity mod
-Warframe (tons of features, better play patiently with a guide. Also consider the early, similar game “Wayfinder”)
-Project Zomboid (It even has persistent world)
-Old School Rune Scape (easy going game, plenty of player …
I want a game that will hack my brain and i dont have to think much and just play off instinct..
As an example from games ive already played, something like vampire survivors, hades, cod multiplayer + zombies, geometry dash, path of exile.
I don’t know if im being clear, i just gave of a pretty weird list there but yeah. Not sure how to explain it better. Satisfying brainless stress-free gameplay
Edit: That’s a lot of comments. Thanks everyone. My favorite suggestions from this thread are Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Doom, Tetris Effect, Enter the Gungeon, one of the Diablos (although I don’t want to give blizzard my money,) and Severed Steel.
PS: To the few of you that said “It takes two,” there is a special place in hell for you, but you made me laugh.
There is the generic bully on the playground evil (like in kotor1/2) but I’m talking about a guy that like is super sophisticated and isn’t like a rampaging bloodthirsty evil dude. I am not going to list the games I have already played cause I would love to replay them but what are the games that have the best evil options that aren’t just kill everyone or steal money?
