Why do we have to choose what this button can do ? Why don’t we let it can do everything?
I’ve made All in One Action Button to solve this pain point. For this shortcut will allow you to - Toggle Silent mode - Take screenshot - Toggle Torch(Flashlight) - Open camera - Toggle focus(Do not disturb) - Voice memo Or anything else, it’s up to you.

I modified a shortcut found on YouTube to add more functionality to the iPhone action button:
- If the iPhone is face down, the action button will toggle “super mute” which mutes both the ringer and media audio with zero input. Turning mute on provides double tap haptic feedback, turning mute off provide single tap haptic feedback.
-If the iPhone is in landscape left orientation (dynamic island on the left), it will immediately launch the camera app in photo mode when pressing the action button.
-I have two duplicate menus setup (screenshot above), one menu is shown when NO focus mode is enabled, and another menu when ANY focus mode is enabled. This could easily be modified as needed for specific focus mode names. I just duplicated all the menu items as a demo. The menu is only shown if the device is NOT in either of the …
I’m from the US but live in Chile. My Apple Pay transactions all happen in Chilean Pesos, which tend to fluctuate quite a bit compared to the US Dollar. I set up a personal automation that automatically converts my Apple Pay transactions into my preferred currency using the new Transaction Automation in Shortcuts. Thought it would be useful to share for those who live in another country or just want to set this up before an international trip.
Getting this configured takes a few steps, but isn’t too hard. I’m sharing the base shortcut here, which makes it easier to get started.
First install Morpho Converter to do the currency conversion (full disclosure: I am a developer on this app). Run the app once to make sure its currencies are populated. Then install the Apple Pay Conversion shortcut. During setup you will be asked to configure the …
Demo: https://youtube.com/shorts/IkYwmalEPfE?si=rQ8u8_R_mVXreL54
The demo walks through toggling each single/double/triple click action. First toggles silent mode with single clicks. Then toggles the flashlight with double clicks. Finally opens the camera with a triple click.

Action Button shortcut link: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/09cc7cb1c23643969c75609fbda6f264
This shortcut saves the timestamps of the two most recent Action Button clicks, uses that to determine if the current click is a double or triple click, and performs a different action for each.
I have it setup to toggle silent mode one single click, toggle flashlight on double click, and open the camera on triple click.
You can set a custom delta time for detecting sequential clicks at the top. 2 seconds seems fine.
Note that there is no way to make a shortcut wait in parallel with another shortcut …
Mine is absolutely, 0 contest, We’re Alive. I have listened all the way through maybe 6 times?
It is just stunningly good and I have a lot of other podcasts I love but none has had the same magic as WA. It’s so engrossing, the storyline is SO good, the character development is phenomenal. It’s just TOO good.
Of that sci-fi esque fiction drama, I would say Tanis and Black Tapes are tied for second for me though Tanis got a little too weird for me at the end (still stellar podcast, just made me too anxious haha).
Would love to hear your favorite podcasts, or to discuss WA because it’s just SO GOOD.
I love podcasts and stories that are centralized around some kind of mystery that drives you practically crazy with suspense and anticipation of the big reveal. What are some great series or individual episodes of podcasts that have done this for you? It can be any genre. For me, the classic podcast episode “The Case of the Missing Hit” is a great example of this and I am totally open to any genre as long as the mystery is juicy and the payoff/reveal is rewarding. Thank you!
from the East India Company to “Jewish Mobsters vs the KKK” to recent crackdowns on MS-13 and 18th St to drugs youve never heard of in countries you never realized have mafias. This team of one anti-authoritarian Brit and one cynical native Brooklynite have been and continue to go to any and all corners of the world investigating, researching and reporting on these subjects that are seemingly too gritty for mainstream news media. they report their findings, background info and recent updates in topic-focused episodes between 30 minutes and 1 hour. People deserve to know about this stuff and these guys deserve the support and listeners.

I have recently started listening to podcasts and would love recommendations
Yes, they have hundreds of shows that are very very popular but I’ve listened to multiple seasons of at least 10 of them (scripted, true crime, comedy) etc and all of the ads are for other Wondery podcasts. If they were getting actual paying advertisers on all their episodes, they could be making tens, maybe a hundred million.
They’re probably paying the hosts of Smartless, Keke Palmer, Jamella Jamil etc big bucks for the podcasts they host for them. Variety says celebrities can make 6 figures to millions for a singular season of a popular podcast.
I listen to the credits and even for the seemingly simple shows, they have composers, writers, assistants, several producers etc they employ for a single episode.
They probably publish 100’s of episodes a week between all their podcasts. Imagine all the offices, studios, post production people they’re paying.
I’m sure it doesn’t matter since Amazon bought them a few years ago, maybe Amazon …
I need some new book recommendations. Can be something of any genre.
I mean cry. Not just made you sad, oh *crying emoji* but really made you cry.
I am looking for an easy to read non fiction book that is SUPER interesting and you can’t put it down because it is so interesting.
Im in the mood to torture myself, i guess. i want to read something heavy and emotional. maybe it’s masochistic - but i want to hear your most soul crushing suggestions?
EDIT: I really appreciate all of your recommendations (so many!! whew! 🥹🥰) there is no doubt I have met so many amazing people on this app, what a rare lovely human experience.
My favorite book is “the people look like flowers at last.” By Bukowski
My favorite genre to read is true crime
2nd favorite to read is fiction — I liked pride and prejudice, chuck palahniuk, GOT series, fire and blood, various others.
I love the beat generation, F.Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, and really interesting auto/biographies.
Thank you again for the suggestions! I’m excited to have a post I can continuously come find again whenever I need a good dose of hurting my heart ♥️
EDIT2:
• after an overwhelming response, I just wanted to let y’all know before you keep commenting about it that ‘A little life’ is now #1 on my reading list …
I want to read books that feel like I’m living in a fever dream and it has twists and/or feels like a labyrinth of sorts. For example, I love House of Leaves, Piranesi, and I also love David Lynch films and I want a book that gives me the same vibes as these. Thanks!
Doesn’t have to be anything similar, just another outstanding series of book that a 8yr old kid would enjoy. Thanks in advance 👍
The only one I can think of is Infamous Second Son, but thats only IF you pick the evil route
Kind of Far Cry 3 too, but your character doesnt even really become evil, he just goes completely insane and loses any hint of his humanity
Any recommendations?
If someone who really enjoys optimizing characters or builds in video games, a lot of them unfortunately tend to hit this peak where you’re so ridiculously overpowered that the game can’t challenge you at all and because of that most of the fun is gone.
Has anyone played any games where you get stupidly overpowered but it stays fun for a long time?
EDIT: Holy shit that’s a lot of responses, Just for future reference I’m going to create a rundown of the most common responses I’ve seen below.
Warframe
Risk of Rain 2
Prototype 1⁄2
Middle Earth: Shadow of War
Diablo 2⁄3
Path of Exile
Kenshi
Morrowind
Hades
Vampire Survivors
Borderlands 2⁄3
Kingdoms of Amalur
Dragon’s Dogma
Currently playing baldur’s gate 3 but I need a polar opposite to it. Any games where it’s fun but doesn’t require my full attention? Playstation preferred
Basically title.
Looking for a game that’s less scripted and more open ended or sandbox style. My favorite part of Skyrim is the emphasis on player choice. I like the scripted content, but I love that I can choose to do it or ignore it depending on my role playing goals. Im not forced into any questlines(except Helgen) which I love.
I tried getting into games like BG3 but I didn’t like how linear it was. The world wasn’t open enough and the story didn’t give you a lot of freedom. I felt very forced into it. I already have like 500 hours in Skyrim so I’m looking for something else. Any recs?
Thanks for any input!
I’d prefer games that you can grind for hours for a certain ultra rare piece of equipment, and level up without limitations to how much progress you can make in a day. Just having fun min-maxing out your character, online or not.
I can’t really think of anything like this that i’ve already played from the top of my head, but looking for these types of games.
Looking for games that require no effort can just sit and chill.
