The extra step of choosing a menu when using the Action Button didn’t make sense to me and felt janky to be honest in experience no matter how well Shortcut builders prided themselves with the archaic menu UI coming in between.

This Shortcut was made because I still use the mute button whenever the iPhone went inside my jeans pocket which is discreet, respectful and professional but at the same time appreciated the dedicated Shutter button. However, I was not interested in wasting the action button to opening up the camera app again where there’s a dedicated button on the lockscreen if not the lockscreen itself opening up the camera followed by Spotlight and Siri Suggestions as well where either would be honestly much quicker.

If you are a person who takes a lot of screenshots and never delete them (like hundred or thousands), they can take up a lot of space like a lot more than you think and it can even be one of the reasons why you’re low on phone storage.
The problem is that Apple decided the screenshot to be created in .png format and that was great at the time because the quality of screenshots would be perfect with it, but then for some reason they decided to just stick with that format even after they introduce the .heif/.heic format.

What does this shortcut do?
It converts the screenshot from png format to heic format and in almost every case it reduces the file size by 10-30 times. Yes you read that right. And once it verifies that all the screenshots have been converted then the shortcut will delete the original screenshot for you (although you can find the deleted screenshots in the “recently deleted” in photos app, if for any reason you want to recover the original screenshots)And …
Hello,
I created this shortcut where you press the action button and if you do nothing the silent mode switches on and off. If you press volume up or down within one second after pressing the action button you will get a action menu where you can make your own actions. This way you keep your normal mute function with an additional menu. I added a vibration to let you know if slient mode is on (1 vibration) or off (2 vibrations). For these vibrations to work (check the state of silent mode) you have to install the app Actions.

Essentially, just like the title states, this is how you can remote start your PC WITHOUT a smart outlet using shortcuts/Siri- and no, this is NOT from a sleep state! You can do this when your PC is completely off! Note- this guide is only for LOCAL remote starts. It’s possible to do it remotely, but I won’t be going over that in this post- it just takes some extra elbow grease!
Things you’ll need-
-An apple device that can run shortcuts
-Ethernet connection from router to PC
-Wolow App (I use the paid version, not sure if the free one let’s you do the same thing)
-Wolow Companion App for PC (Not required, but nice if you want to remote shut-down/restart your PC as well)
Wolow - Wake on LAN (They have their own guide as well!)
Make sure WOL is enabled for your PC (I had to go into bios and enable “ Power On By PCI-E”). You may have to open your ethernet adapter properties->networking->configure->advanced->Enable Wake on Magic Packet …
The iPhone 15 lineup has a new Charging Optimization setting that (finally) allows you to limit your phone to an 80% charge. I’d love to build a shortcut around this to switch between the 80% limit and no limit (full charge). However I don’t see anything in Shortcuts that would make this any easier than the five taps it currently takes to change the setting. Any ideas?
Btw there’s an awesome app for the Mac called AlDente that gives tons of control over how and when your battery charges and to what levels. Highly recommend if you’re into that kind of thing, and especially if you use your laptop plugged in like a desktop most of the time.
This Shortcut was kindly requested by u/m_imm0723.
I know.. there’re plenty of them out there, but I took my chances with this one.

I’m really into This American Life these days but their back catalog is HUGE and a little overwhelming. For other fans — what’s the episode I absolutely have to listen to ASAP?
Mine so far is “800: Jane Doe” but honestly I love all the ones I’ve heard so far.
It’s a bummer to see so many of my favorite podcasts (and podcast hosts) promote a company that has already been fined millions of dollars by the government for giving out patients’ personal information. I get that podcasts need advertising to survive, but there has to be less harmful companies to promote and associate with your podcast.

There are some shows in my lineup that are so dang good that they’ll cut in line no matter what I’m listening to. I’m looking for more of those. What’s that show for you?
I’ll post mine in the comments below.
I’m a big fan of a lot of different podcasts, but oh how I miss Urgent Care with Joel Kim Booster and Mitra Jouhari. There are tons of comedy podcasts and tons of advice podcasts, but none have scratched this specific itch for me.
What’s the one podcast you’d give anything to bring back?
I’m an avid podcast listener, and for some reason, 99%I only made it onto my rotation this week after a friend talked me into it. I started with the recent “Trail Mix” eps as I live in Colorado and am an avid hiker/backpacker, and- wow.
I’ve never had a podcast reorganize how I think about my favorite hobby and the industry around it so immediately and succinctly. Roman Mars is an incredible host with a voice I could (and likely will) listen to for hours.
I’m eager to hear everyone’s favorite eps for newcomers!
For some reason, I prefer not to put a face to the voice. As an aside, has anyone completely looked different than what you expected them to look like and has that affected how you hear them?
I love a good plot twist so please recommend me a book you wish you could read for the first time again just to get that same rush?
Could be a character who is part of the town
Could be a character coming into the town
Could be the surroundings/make up of the town
Could be the townspeople itself
Not necessarily murder mystery- women comes back to small town, vibes
More so spooky vibes, please, like something is…off
Edit on 10⁄01: wow thanks so much for your responses! I tried to respond but this blew up more than I thought it would! I will compile a list of most suggested in this thread so we can all get into those unsettling towns!
Edit 10⁄01: later in the evening: thank you all so much for your recommendations! I think we all appreciate the vibes we want for this fall season!
I went through and selected the top 55 repeats from the top 500 comments (please, I’m human and tired and have law school in the morning) but I appreciate everyone’s recommendations and will continue to read them!
As always be informed readers and check out any TW before heading into a book!
Edit: 10 …
Mine is definitely the Harry Potter series. I started them all over again, but in English, since I read them in Dutch.
I tend to struggle if a book doesn’t draw me in quickly. I know some books are a slow burn and worth the early effort, but I want to hear about the ones that grabbed you early on and held you until the end! 😊

Starting to get into reading, needs some suggestions.
Don’t mistake this for a singleplayer game that feels like an MMO, I’ve seen those threads.
What I’m looking for is simply a game that feels really good for someone with ADHD, constantly things happening, things popping up and movement happening all around you.
Like those crappy predatory games that constantly have things popping onto your screen :P
Hello.
Are there any Games, be it from AAA or Indie developers, that were definitely not worth your time to play them?
Or in other words, are there any Games, which were praised and advertised so much, but in the end was not what they were supposed to be and failed hard?
I just watched the movie Akira and thought about how cool it would be to crush stuff with my mind and shit so was wondering if anyone knows any games where I can destroy the environment and cause destruction with telekinetic powers. I’ve heard saints row, infamous and prototype are games with super powers you can mess around with so would any of these have what I want? (I’m on PC btw)
I’m gaming on a budget right now, and need some stuff to pass my downtime. What are some of your favorite free games/free games you highly recommend?
I’m looking for any games where you play or can play as an evil character. Any genre is fine but an rpg would be preferred.
I enjoyed Elden Ring, Skyrim, Stray, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Prey, Astro’s Playroom, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Uncharted 4, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and just started Zelda: ToTK.
