Is there any way to make this happen? I’ve got Apple Music, Spotify, Sonos, YT Music…can I automate this and can I automate this THAT SPECIFICALLY for the seconds?
Hi! I’m an indie dev, and I recently published an app that can be used alongside shortcuts to theme one’s home screen! I used to use a shortcut that did this but had trouble finding app icons to use. Later on, I found some apps that did this but didn’t have support for many apps. This is where my app comes in! It lets you use a variety of themes and icons, and you can apply them with shortcuts to be used with any app. The app is called Iconic - App Icon Themer, and although it includes a few themes for free, I’m going to be giving away a lifetime key to unlock all themes and future content! To enter, just upvote this post and leave a comment down below! I’ll update the post tomorrow when I select a winner and DM the lucky user :)
Congratulations u/EmperorDante, you are the winner of this giveaway! Thank you everyone for the kind words and your participation. Also, look out for a big update coming this week :)
Here’s a list of iPhone country codes. This can be useful when identifying devices or bypassing region restrictions.
If you have time please run this shortcut and tell me your country code..! https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/1909d3cfbb5c49fe807b814c0cfe019c
I have an old Sanyo TV in a downstairs room that I recently added an Apple TV 4K. For my bday I got the Nanoleaf 4D and wanted to ask if there is a shortcut I can create that once tv is on, turn on the light strip on? And vice versa, turn lights off once Apple TV is turned off ? Currently I am having to manually turn on/off the light strip after I am done watching tv.
Or if this isn’t the place to ask, can someone point to it ?
Thanks in advance! Happy holidays everyone.
This shortcut will help you store your decorations in a neat way by creating a QR code for each item/container with its contents as well as store the item/container and location in a csv file for easy lookup next year when you forgot where you put the 6 foot snowman who is wrapped in 3 layers of yard bags. Simply use the csv to find location, and we code to verify correct item. Enjoy!
Okay, so not sure if the title is really explanatory of what I’m looking for but it’s kind of hard to describe
I’ve got a couple long flights tomorrow and am a verrrrrrry anxious flyer, to put it extremely mildly.
I have discovered that putting in my ear buds after popping a Xanax and listening to something soothing is very helpful. However I’m not just looking for stuff like meditative music…I have a ton of that already downloaded.
I actually really enjoy listening to old Twilight Zone recordings, for example. Just the short playing time, the soothing yet expressive voices, something to keep me distracted but also totally easy to fall asleep to. Kind of like old-time radio show type things. No yelling or loud jabbering or sound effects that might startle me. Because me getting startled while in flight is not a great experience.
I guess I’m looking for nice easy storytelling? Nothing too over complicated. Nothing I really need to concentrate to follow along to. Just something to …
I followed a couple recommendations from this sub to listen to “Why They Left.” I like urbex and stories about abandoned homes, so I was enjoying this investigation about a family of doctors fleeing a rural Alabama home and leaving everything behind.
This was all well and good, until the most recent episode went completely off the rails. There’s gangstalking accusations, qanon/satanic panic accusations, a bunch of nonsense about a cabal of child abusers “in all levels of government”. Some “scientist” goes on some tangent about controlling people’s behavior with electronic waves. Healing crystals and reptilians also make a cameo.
If you’re like me and just came off the heels of watching the Love Has Won documentary, a lot of this is probably ringing several alarm bells too. Give it a hard pass.
I’m looking for some new podcasts about topics that I and probably most others wouldn’t even think of to search for. So, what’s one of the most unique podcasts you’ve listened to and enjoyed enough that you’d recommend it to others?
I recently came across the Handsome podcast with Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster, and Mae Martin I cannot get enough of it!! The hosts have incredible chemistry and banter that genuinely cracks me up. They’re all so quick and clever, and listening feels like a great hang.
One of my first ever podcast discoveries was Professor Blastoff with Tig Notaro and it’s making me realize I really enjoy a good banter, comics hanging podcast. I’d also put Too Far in this general category.
Any other pretty little handsome listeners lurking this sub? Any recs for similar pods? I’m almost caught up!
I listened to the first episode of Mind Pump today and really loved it. Then I did some research and found out that they’ve seemingly gone down a weird alt right rabbit hole ever since covid and have a bunch of problematic guests on their show.
So… is there anything else like it?

Rant:
I lost family to covid because they believed the nonsense anti-vax people with big platforms spouted. My mom’s husband was an incredible athlete, super fit, extremely active person, and he became convinced that vaccines were poison. He was hospitalized after two weeks with covid, and never left. Hearing people “just ask questions” or open the door to “skeptcism” in areas they have no expertise in ticks me off and completely ruins a podcast for me. Rant over.
If you like bugs, slugs, near death experiences, mushrooms, clouds, and just random facts about things that don’t ever get attention to this podcast is for you. It’s definitely on the earth and witchy side but I love every episode of it would totally recommend anyone each episode is about its own different Topic from spiderwebs to clouds to psychedelics to new death experiences. It’s amazing.
Do us a favor, help us curate our 2024 reading lists! Which books did you DNF or regret finishing? Which would you warn your friends to avoid?
Well, the year is almost over and I’d love some inspiration for my 2024 reading list. As such, what were your five favorite reads of 2023? (Your five didn’t have to be published in 2023, mind you.)
Here are mine, in no particular order:
Im trying to put together a decent list of books to read and need suggestions on your top 3 must read books in a lifetime.
They could be your favorite books- the ones that have had the most impact on you, or books that you just objectively consider to be the best books ever written. I’m open to everything.
What’s your favorite book you read this year? Mine was Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin.
Almost done with 2023 Reading Goals - Need a couple more books to round out the year!
Trying to torture myself this holiday
So basically like Rogue Legacy. And while I love that aspect of Rogue Legacy, I’m not a big fan of platformers/Metroidvanias. So are there any other games like this? I really like the idea of starting over with someone new, trying a different build, etc.
But I can’t really think of any games that do this. So are there any?
Edit: Okay, whoa. Didn’t expect this many responses. Can’t respond to them all, but just know that I’m reading them all for sure.
First games that come to mind,
Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, Sifu
Suggestions from any genre welcome
As per title. I tried RDR2, but ultimately didn’t really get that hook onto it. The game is insanely beautiful, but I can’t point to what exactly made it feel lacking. Been wanting to scratch that itch for a long time. Skyrim was the first single player game that got me hooked for hundred of hours.
Edit: really appreciate everyone getting in to this, a lot on my list to check out. Similar themes seem to be;
Some others that caught are; - V Rising. - Starbound. - Marauders. - Stalcraft.
Will be looking over them tomorrow to see what I want to make a start with.
I’m looking for a game to sink my teeth in to where I can go on individual missions, or runs, and come back to a base or area to manage the base itself, or if there isn’t a literal base then character/s or equipment.
Obvious examples are games like Tarkov or Dark and Darker but these seem to have a high barrier for entry, especially for someone from a console background who doesn’t have a lot of experience with mouse and keyboard (myself). However, I’d even include the Ultimate Team mode of EA Sports FC as I still have this “recharge” or management period in between games. I also love the Monster Hunter series for the same reason but I am …
I am looking for a relaxing game. I don’t care for combat, what I am looking for is exploration, interaction with NPCs and the environment, solving puzzles and/or problems. A very important factor is game feel: good sound effects, smooth controls etc.
Edit: Thank you all for your suggestions. You were really helpful and I managed to compile a neat little wishlist.
Kenshi, Rimworld, State of Decay 2, the older fallouts, metro, Darkwood, project zomboid ?
The newer fallouts just don’t really give off that atmosphere or detail in its world anymore tbh. I would consider Pathologic 1⁄2 too but idk if it’s apocalyptic necessarily
