Would this work? What do I need to change?
Looking for inspiration
Hey guys!
I just pushed an update to SCSettings this morning that adds a VPN menu to quickly toggle VPN on or off, as well as toggle Connect On Demand.
I think this Shortcut is mostly finished as I can’t think of much else to add without taking away from the initial intent of it in the first place.
The Settings shortcuts menu is as large as the screen will allow without having to scroll on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, so I don’t really want to add anymore. The only thing I can think of is moving the Hotspot link to the main menu, but that one is mostly for toggles.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think.
Cheers!
The Apple Watch vibrating alarm is great for waking me up without waking my wife. But if I forgot to put my Watch on, it makes an annoying loud alarm noise on my phone, which wakes up my wife.
I realized this is what I wanted: if I am wearing my watch, tap me on my wrist; if I am not wearing my watch, just skip the alarm (if I sleep-in it is my own fault for not putting on my watch, but at least I didn’t wake up my wife).
To accomplish this, I made this shortcut. It checks to see if I am wearing my watch by checking the most recent heart rate data. I automated this shortcut to run everyday, five minutes before my sleep alarm.
Let me know what you think or any improvements I could make!
A couple years ago she launched the podcast “Empty Inside” where she would interview former child stars. I liked it. It ended pretty quickly and has now been completely erased from the Internet. Then back in September 2023 she launched “Hard Feelings,” which got a ton of press after the success of her book. This was was not nearly as good as the first one, imo, and most of the topics were repeats of what she covered in the first podcast. Also the episodes contained about 8 minutes of talking and 7 minutes of the same two ads read over and over, which was annoying. Still, something intrigued me enough to keep listening. Her last episode was titled “the last episode” with no explanation for why it was ending so suddenly. For as much hype as it got, I expected there to be more substance, either in each episode or throughout the series. Kind of a let down…
clean, slice of life….magical/mystical/fairy tale is all aok but at the same time not childish. Elaborately descriptive, calming soothing, etc.
Ty!
So I’ve been looking at reddit trying to find a scam/not overly heavy true crime pod I haven’t listened to yet and I’m having trouble Basically I’d like a podcast about true crime without murder and with a lighter/less serious or life threatening tonesc PREFERABLY short form or a short series I’ve listened to a lot so if i forget one I’ll edit it in
Ones I’ve liked -scamfluencers - swindled -cheat - all the chameleons - darker diaries -dr deaths - queen of the con - The dream s1 -the opportunist
kinda indifferent on - all the crooked city’s - ponzi playbook -the missing crypto queen -scamanda - this is actually happening(suggested a lot for scam stuff which suprised me) - believe in magic -all of the SBF, WEWORK, theranos, twitter, Uber, ect podcasts
Disliked
- American scandal and any other similar ones-I fucking hate the narration
- the perfect scam- narration
-scam goddess- I prefer storytelling with less personal stuff/enthusiasm
- American green-narration
Tysm!!
Edit: sorry …
I love listening to podcasts but the political/religion ones tend to deal with heavy subjects all the time looking to laugh and relax
Hi ! I’m looking for a new podcast to fall in love with. I like crime and fraud and also incredible strange human life stories. I feel like they often tend to be terrible and focussed on trauma and deceit, which is fine, but wouldn’t mind something positive and inspiring.
My all time favourite podcasts are “Dirty John”, and stories people share in the “Something Was Wrong” and “This is Actually Happening” style where people talk about an experience that was out of the ordinary in their life that took a turn, or slowly escalated to proportions they never expected. I’ve enjoyed Sweet Bobby, and S-Town, and also survival stories like the Plane Crash in The Andes story by Against All Odds. Recent favourites are Reply All ’s episode: Long Distance, in which the journalist/host of the podcast who gets a phone call from a fake “I-cloud support alert” company actually flies out to India to confront the scammers. …
I’ve been listening to “ If Books Could Kill” and I enjoy the way the hosts use language. I found it’s helped expand my active vocabulary.
Are there other podcasts that similarly have well-spoken hosts?
Just finished Dark Matter by Blake Crouch and loved it. I generally love fantasy and scifi. I can get down with a good memoir but prefer fiction. Thanks!
Been reading some pretty heavy stuff recently and need a break. Want something light and funny but not stupid or trashy. I’m looking for the 30 Rock or Arrested Development of literature. Any help would be deeply and greatly appreciated thank you!
I just read “Into Thin Air” about the 1996 disaster on Everest by Jon Krakauer and could not put it down. I loved Bill Bryson’s “Walk in the Woods” as well. Any others that you recommend??
Hello. I am suffering from very intense depression. Lately due to work burnout, I’m feeling broken and no longer find joy in any of my hobbies, including reading. It used to be an escape but now I fear I have lost hope that things will get better.
I love reading. I would love it if you could recommend me books that focus around the topics of depression and anxiety. Anything would be welcome. Books that made you cry, books that gave you hope, books that grasped you from the first page and transported you to a new world.
This is a last ditch effort for an escape from this reality and hopefully kickstart my journey to find happiness.
Please don’t worry about me, I’ve fought too hard and too long to give up. All I need is a little help. I’m just a stranger looking for your recommendations.
Thank you.
Edit: Wow, thank you all SO much! So many suggestions and I’m looking forward to going through and adding these to my TBR. What a wonderful community. To those who are also suffering, may …

THANKS FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL COMMENTS
Most adaptations are poor, but what are the book reads that are ruined if someone watches the movie first iyo?
After months of seeing Outer Wilds recommended across gaming subreddits, I finally decided to give it a try. While I enjoyed my time with it, I simply can’t get behind the incessant recomendations for this game.
Redditors will recommend this game whenever given the chance. If I see a post asking for a specific type of game recommendation, it seems like 90% of the time the top comment is Outer Wilds. Best game to get lost in? Outer wilds. Best game to play without sound? Outer wilds. Best game with a deeper meaning? Outer Wilds.
Nothing wrong with liking a game, but man, recommend something else for a change.
Edit: to be clear - I liked the game. I beat the game. I’d recommend it in the right context. But it’s typically not recommended in the right place, at least in my opinion.
Need assistance finding shooting games where you aren’t killing people. My wife really likes Halo and wants games like that, but doesn’t like shooting people (more specifically she doesn’t like a lot of blood.)
Any suggestions? Thinking of trying destiny
Edit: thanks to everyone for the suggestions, were gonna go through them and make some picks but were both very excited!
She doesn’t want shooting games (she says it’s not the shooting it’s the pressure and she gets flustered). “I have a fear of failure” she said she enjoyed Tomb Raider as a kid but if you fell you would respawn super nearby so you’d be able to try again quickly. She is fine with some challenges but doesn’t want things attacking you unless it’s just an occasional thing. She liked moments to figure out where to go, who to talk to. She doesn’t want to grow a farm. She likes quests and puzzles but doesn’t have to be both. She hated overcooked, too much pressure
i can run most games, but not super high demanding ones. and for really fast i mean literal movement speed. multiplayer or single player is cool, as long as i can speed blitz everything, bc GOTTA GO FAST. oh yeah, and preferably 3d games
Any games with canonically ugly protagonists? I recently started playing Arcanum and the ability to start as a horrendously unattractive character that people will react to with revulsion is definitely very different. Are there any other games which feature an unattractive protagonist?
