Here’s my home screen’s shortcut page filled with my self-made shortcuts — might mix in shortcuts from others later on!
TLDR: This is the premier app locker shortcut with zero delay, compatible with Face ID, and featuring a customizable re-lock interval.
How to Use: 1. Add the shortcut to your device. 2. Set your desired re-lock interval when prompted during the initial setup. 3. Create a single automation in the Shortcuts app to apply this shortcut when any of the selected apps are opened. 4. (Optional) To lock additional apps or stop locking certain apps, edit the app selection in the same automation. 5. (Optional) If you want to change the re-lock interval, edit the second text box within the shortcut’s editing interface.

I. INTRODUCTION (no need to read, you can jump to the “How to use” part below):
There are many App Locker shortcuts on RoutineHub along with some workaround methods for locking apps on iOS before, but I think my shortcut works the best because of many advantages:
Unlike other App Locker …
I can’t manage multiple posts sharing each of my shortcuts, so here’s all I’ve published to this great community, created & verified on iPhone 13 Pro Max 512GB iOS 17.3.1.
Shoutout to r/shortcuts moderator mvan, tks for the info & support.
Save this page if you like my efforts; I’ll post updates & add more shortcuts in the future. These shortcuts compile many similar functionalities into single shortcuts & are quite extensive. I finally have screenshots available but they won’t display inline except Pasteboard at the bottom of this post for some reason. Descriptions for each shortcut provided below all the links.
Note: Current Shortcuts bugs like Find Notes with #tags support, Choose from menu & Quick Look hangs, & File browse half-screen should be resolved with the upcoming update to iOS 17.4 rumored to release Wednesday March 6.
Please enjoy & offer comments regarding ways to increase code efficiency or ideas for additional capabilities! ~DeFrag …
The idea of switching to iOS was harder for me years ago, because of the lack of customization lke Android has, and i love to play with things and make the system fit my Desiree. However, iOS was very restrição, though with a more optimized and sophisticated UI and UX. When i got iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 8 in the last days, honestly i do not miss Android at all. Shortcuts combined with the ecosystem is magical and was able to destroy big Android advantages. In iOS every app have a better design and animations, and when you mix that with the power of shortcuts and widgets, alongside the sleek design of apple products, it’s like a dream coming true…
I’m looking for a specific way to limit my phone usage when I’m in my bedroom, as I often find myself using my phone there in a way I don’t like. As a solution, I thought about detecting which floor I’m on, as my bedroom is on the attic/second floor. This way, I can automatically turn off my phone at certain times when I’m in my bedroom, such as when I go to bed.
I’ve tried a few things, like measuring my altitude using Shortcuts, but the closest that I’ve come to my goal with is the following: I’ve used the app “Sensor Logger” to collect data that could help me, but I haven’t found a way to link this data to the Shortcuts app on my iPhone. Sensor Logger doesn’t display the exact height, but I think this could work to my advantage because the altimeter on my phone is very inaccurate. Sensor Logger seems to be very good at tracking relative altitude differences and could therefore probably detect when I go up or …
Shortcut that protects you from CVE-2024-23204! This shortcut checks for these actions.

Fail Conditions: If a shortcut for some reason contains these texts:
is.workflow.actions.url.expand is.workflow.actions.getcurrentlocation is.workflow.actions.location is.workflow.actions.filter.contacts is.workflow.actions.filter.photos is.workflow.actions.takephoto
it will fail a check. you can create a new shortcut and put that in a text or comment function and it will trigger all of the checks.
I posted a month ago ish and wanted some comedy recommendations. I got some amazing suggestions and far more than I thought I would. I didn’t reply to everyone but I appreciate every single one of you who made a recommendation and commented. I’ve listened to every single suggestion and have endless hours of funny now. I haven’t been able to laugh like this since my mother passed. I’ve been severely depressed for almost 4 years and there are long periods where I don’t even get out of bed. During the last month, I’ve put on a podcast and started cleaning up my depression home and I’m able to genuinely laugh. I’m so incredibly grateful and laughter really is medicine.
Thank you!
I’m talking about podcasts that don’t require anything from you but provide a comforting bit companionship while you do some daily tasks
For me it’s Chris Hansen’s predators I’ve caught, sure it’s a little trashy but his voice has a certain soothing quality and it’s fun hearing the bad guys squirm
What’s on your list?
The ones I have found, I am easily taken out of because of how repetitive and loud the background music is. Others are just random reddit stories. Or too campy.
I want to fucking lay awake at night. Like, 9yo just seen the Ring for the first time scared. I want to feel the unease of looking into the mirror in my bathroom, the darker corner of my bedroom.
I like supernatural, but not just spooky ghosts. The movie Hereditary is a great example of things that have really moved me.
Now I feel I’m looking for an audiobook recommendation…
I wonder if mentioning audiobooks will set the mods off haha.
Can I please get some suggestions:)
Just finished all 7+ hours of the viral tiktok saga and now I’m yearning for another long-form tale about a pathological liar or seemingly smart people getting taken advantage of. So, not necessarily true crime! TYIA :)
I migrated my subscriptions from Google Podcasts to YouTube Music about 2 months ago. I really tried to use it. I even have YouTube Premium, for whatever that’s worth. But it’s terrible. Seasons of the same podcast are hosted on separate unlinked channels. The search feature returns musical artists and playlists, even within the “Podcast” filter. On Android Auto, there’s no way to easily switch back and forth between a podcast episode and a music playlist - something I do almost daily and need to not crash my car to do so.
What do other people use that has Android Auto support? I’m thinking of trying Spotify, but are there unskippable ads for free users? I’m also not sure all of my subscriptions are on Spotify.
It can be about any aspect of psychology, though I am looking for podcasts where the hosts are experts/mental health professionals on the topics they discuss or bring people on their podcast who are experts. Also, I know most of the really popular and big podcasts like The Psychology Podcast, Hidden Brain, The Happiness Lab etc, so I’m looking more for podcasts that aren’t necessarily obscure but ones that most people probably don’t know about.
Thanks!
There are books you love, and then books you LOVE. What is a book or series you’ve read three or more times and still look forward to reading again.
All genres welcome, but my genre preferences include sci-fi, fantasy, magical realism, and historical fiction.
Edit: Wow, thank you for so many suggestions! It’s going to take a bit to parse all this info, but I’m so glad to have so many options for books y’all love!!!
Hoping to watch the world on fire for a bit here. Bonus points if you actually have something positive to say about it.
Edit: forgot to add my own: The Secret, the worst book I ever read. For positives I’ll list that it knows how to bullshit it’s way to keep you around. If anyone is wondering, the secret is just manifesting. Just saved you a read!
I found a few lists and I have started to tackle a “100 books to read before you die” list that seems good and I am planning on reading the titles over the next few years (I just finished book #8 Brave New World). A lot of them are classic literature and the most recent books are 50+ years old. I’m guessing older books are going to dominate lists like this since more people have heard of them and had time to read them.
So my questions is, are there book titles that have come out in recent years (in the last 10-20 years) that belong on a list like this?
Hello, guys.
I was born and raised in religious and conservative Pakistan. Its not a stretch to say that Pakistan is not a safe place for women. I am a 35 year old Sunni Muslim man. I want to learn and formally introduce myself to feminism - not as a buzzword, but what its all about - the origin, the history of it, the different types of feminism, and feminism in the 21st century.
Please recommend me books that give the 101 on all of these factors. Thank you and have a good day.
I think that the first line of a book is one of the most interesting parts of it. Which books have banging opening lines? — classics, modern fiction, anything really
My son (10, autistic) loves to be read to sleep, and at bedtime he doesn’t like books with much activity in them.
He’s not into magic or fantasy stories, and doesn’t like conflict. Realistic old fashioned settings are his jam.
He LOVES slice of life books, especially those that narrate children living a more rustic lifestyle. He’s loved the Little House series and many Boxcar Children books, particularly for the descriptions of cooking meals and tidying things up.
Any recommendations out there?
EDIT: He also has liked Hatchet, The Sign of the Beaver, and The Indian In The Cupboard. (He obsessed about the food in that one and asked for “Boone’s breakfast” for about a month 😂)
Alright guys, I’m going overseas and won’t have internet for 90 days. Give me your top offline games for PC you would install to keep you busy for three months!
Preferably an open world action RPG game, with some level of character customisation.
It would be cool to have a game where you become at least building/mountain level, where you can blow holes in things as you fight and fly around and shit. Stuff you see in anime, where the fights and powers are over the top.
Looking for something that scratches a very specific itch I have right now, for a game that has a melancholic or otherwise very distinct atmosphere that I might come out of feeling a bit differently about life
Requirements:
Max 30-40h to do most things in the game. I’m a completionist and can’t commit to a Witcher 3 or Persona 5 tier game right now
No overt jump scares. I don’t mind creepiness or horror elements but I don’t want to be startled constantly
Games I enjoyed that fit this prompt: Disco Elysium, Outer Wilds, Undertale, Journey
Thanks for any recommendations!
Not sure of a better way to title this, but I feel like a lot of games that are difficult try do make you feel disempowered in some way (KCD, FromSoft games, etc), and the ones that make you feel powerful tend to be too easy. The three games that I feel like hit that perfect balance are Hotline Miami, Katana Zero, and Ghostrunner. What other games would you recommend?
Are there any online shooters where character movement is as close to human as possible?
I enjoy competitive shooters, but quite often I’m not in the mood for having to strafe side to side at 100mph every time I want to loot something.
In the same vein, seeing other players bouncing around the screen wildly when trying to shoot them sometimes just feels absurd.
So any games out there where one’s character isn’t able to perform inhuman amounts of manoeuvrability?
EDIT: Just want to thank everyone who contributed here! I have loads of games to check out now and it’s much appreciated. Thanks!
I just finished Spec Ops: The Line and I need more things that’ll make me feel like I’ve just been through a trip through hell by the end (in a good way.) Or, you know, whatever comes close enough. Something that’ll make me question my sanity. Any genre or type of game welcome, but would prefer lower end games.
