Check out my YouTube Downloader I made with Shortcuts. Please leave some feedback as I‘m not that experienced with Shortcuts + this is the earliest version of it. It will auto-update search if you run it with an active WiFi-connection.
As someone who works from home and finds it challenging to get moving, I wrote this shortcut to help me burn my calories more evenly.
It takes your daily move goal and your current active calories, then divides the calories into the next hours so you can close your rings more easily before 11 pm.
If you want to get active every hour or so instead of burning calories at a big chunk at the end of the day, this one is for you.
Note: Remember to change your move goal at top of this shortcut for it to work correctly.
Note 1 : The shortcut may ask for health permission the first time you run it. Both on iPhone and the Apple Watch
Note 2: You can adjust your preferred workout types at the end of the list. The ones in this shortcut are my preferred workouts when I am home.

Through this shortcut, you will be able to Enable/Disable VPN through one click from the Home Screen. (Link at bottom)
I’m not sure if this has been done earlier, but I’ve had a tough time finding an option to work for my use. I hope this is helpful to someone who needs it. You can club this setup with opening apps under automation to make it easier for you.

Last month, I shared a shortcut for allowing spotify users to one-tap shuffle their Liked Songs (in my case, directly from the lock screen!)
This morning, I had the idea to consolidate a few common playlists I listen to into a “Spotify Launchpad” of sorts so I get this functionality of instant shuffled playback on any of the playlists I desire, in less than a second in a matter of 2 taps from my home screen.
I don’t feel like I need to do a lengthy write-up or anything, you get the gist I’m sure from the pics but just wanted to share in case anyone finds it helpful/useful. For my current setup, I’m still running the “Shuffle Liked Songs” shortcut from my lock screen but I’ve got this one on my home screen for easy access to playlists i still listen to but not as much as my Liked Songs.
Here is a more generic copy with just the standard Liked Songs, Discover Weekly, Daily Mix 1-4, and DJ X: …
Picture Report v1.1
What this shortcut does:
This shortcut allows you to take new or existing photos and then add text/information below to the picture. The shortcut will allow you to create a PDF document of however many pictures you have and send it via iOS mail app as a picture report. This has a great work case scenario where you may need to document items.
Each page will hold a maximum of 9 photos any more it will create more pages to fill any remaining photos you have taken.
Setup
There is 1 setup question that will ask you if you want to save the photos to your iOS photo album. If you don’t it will save it to your files app instead.
You can do the following things in this shortcut
FYI this is the first shortcut that …
Wonder if anyone can relate…
True Crime Podcasts were my gateway into Podcasts. Serial, MFM, Dateline, Crime Junkie etc.
The past year or two I’ve felt really icky about the genre, probably bc I always gravitated toward the podcasts that incorporate humor and banter.
I may be projecting but at times it feels the hosts themselves sound overwhelmed by the darkness of the topics. It all just hits so heavy lately and I’m noticing how listening to those podcasts affects my mental health.
While I am and have always been fascinated by True Crime, I find myself reaching for lighter, comedy, nonsense podcasts (I did go through my self help phase but that also felt icky bc the whole pull yourself up by the boot straps is so toxic).
These days I watch documentaries for true crime content. It feels less icky to have the family and friends discuss their experience vs strangers.
I am listening to lighter podcasts, pure entertainment type stuff and feel my mental health is so much …
Just discovered this podcast recently and have had to stop myself from binging it too hard as there aren’t actually a lot of episodes. But damn is it amazing - it’s cemented itself as one of my all-time favourites. I’m a huge history buff and found out about it while looking for pods similar to Hardcore History. I might actually like this one even better since it deals with some of the most fascinating and compelling civilizations and provides a really insightful high-level overview, which while not as detailed as HH, still gives you a really good idea of what these civilizations were like, and tickles your interest enough to do some in-depth research yourself.
The presentation is fantastic too - Paul Cooper has a really calm and quietly charismatic tone and voice which adds to the immersive quality of the stories, and he has a way with words to really drive home the magisterial, epic and often melancholy nature of the episodes. The Sumerian and Easter Island ones in particular were …
I put off listening to Heavyweight for about 4-5 years. Almost everyone recommended it and each time I tried to listen in, it just didn’t capture me for more than a minute.
I don’t know what happened in early Jan of this year. I randomly.put it on and was entraced. I wanted to listen to it more and more.
Now, I’m at the end. All episodes done, the show in limbo.
I just feel so weird. My old true crime favorites don’t seem to cut it anymore. And I tired listening to Snap Judgement, didn’t get in into as well (maybe I’ll try again after 5 years).
Just venting I guess. And looking for something along the same lines.
What’s a series you loved and no longer has any episodes? Please share 😊😊😊 Need to diversify my selection
My dad died May 6th last year, and some days it still hits me so hard… Woke up today missing him so much it physically hurts… Doesn’t help that my mom has alzheimer’s and I’m already grieving her loss, since she’s slowly disappearing too…
So today just sucks, and I need a podcast episode about grief, that fits my current life situation, and I can just crawl back into bed and listen to, while I cry my eyes out…
All suggestions are greatly appreciated ❤️
What podcast can you recommend to someone who only likes to listen to limited edition podcasts: max 10 episodes per season, each time a closed ended story that needs to be listened to in order. I loved S-town, I loved Jamie Bartlett’s documentaries on Missing Crypto Queen, on Believe in Magic. I love story and docu genre. Anything worth recommending?
I want to read what you would consider masterpiece status. I have read such a long string of underwhelming stories. I want to hear what your favourite top shelf books are. Thanks for any recs! :)
Editing to thank you all so much for the recommendations. I really appreciate them and will be referring back to this post for a long time ❤️
Although I’m primarily asking about novels, if you’ve read any long manga or comic series, feel free to mention those as well
So hi guys I have recently entered in the reading phase of my life in which I have started reading books. I wanted some suggestions of book that would completely change the way I think and perceive others. So if you know some books that you believe if you read before would have completely changed how you perceive others I am happily interested to know
I really enjoy the most sad and depressing kind of books. My favorites are The Road and Tender Is The Flesh. I’m currently going through On The Beach and I’ve read No Longer Human.
Please, suggest me books that will crush my soul and mind. I want to suffer as I go through the pages.
Thank you all.
I’m very keen to see what comes up.
Can be any genre. Kinda looking for that effect of when you wake up from a very realistic nightmare to realize that you have plenty to be thankful for in life. Could be fiction or non-fiction. Thanks
EDIT: Thank you for the wealth of suggestions. This is such an awesome sub. Haven’t read / replied to all but will in due course.
Hello there! I am doing a college project on women representation in videogames.
Right now I am focusing on how gaming has told stories with and without women, mostly to see how the absence of women is represented.
Hence why I am looking for games that have no women at all.
Thanks in advance!
edited pls stop sending me recommendations im getting too mcuh ik that wont stop most people since they dont read the text
Are there any great recent RPGs or open world action games where you start off in a lesser role and as your progress thru the game you become either the king, god, or boss?
To put you in the mind of what I mean.. like in the godfather 2 you were able to work your way up to being the Don
In the Infamous games you were pretty much able to progress to the point you were a Superman-like god
Like yeah being the Dragonborn in Skyrim felt cool.. but why couldn’t I be the high king too
I love rpgs, don’t mind a 1 off payment if it’s worth it.
Open to all suggestions
I like playing games where you start with jack shit, and slowly earn a little bit more, and build up over time - the longer it takes to progress, the better.
Examples of this might be Gran Turismo, where you start with a shitty car and it takes a while as you save money to upgrade it, then eventually get a new car, and so on. Or Mafia or Saint’s Row III, where you start with nothing and earn a collection of cars and houses and take over the city. Privateer, some turn-based 4x stuff, so on and so forth. The longer it takes to earn stuff and get powerful, the better.
What suggestions do you have for games like this? Anything’s fair game
And I don’t mean just you’re a wizard going on an adventure, I mean a game in which you sit in a tower, pondering your orb, having minions do the grunt labor, making spells, upgrading tower, etc. I feel like a game in which the point is to research magic and build your tower/influence would be super fun and Im curious if there is anything like that. Thanks!
