The this post inspired me for this automation:
Background: When your phone is stolen you can track it with FindMy (even when it’s turned off). Despite this, the tracking stops working when airplane mode is turned on (by thief).
This is where this automation comes in.
Function: When the Airplane mode is turned on, this automation asks for a password. When it’s entered incorrectly, not within 3 seconds, or the prompt is dismissed. The phone automatically locks the screen, turns airplane mode back off and goes into low power mode with the screen brightness set to 0.
Setup: For this to work you’ll need ToolBox Pro. Create the two automations (as shown in the picture). This makes sure that when the password request is not fulfilled that the other shortcuts that locks the screen and turns off Airplane mode still runs. (Otherwise the thief could easily disable this automation).
Alternative to ToolBox Pro: It should be possible to create/read and edit a file or note and use this las the …
I just love using the action button to show my main shortcuts folder. Am I the only one?
I created a shortcut that allows you to set/create: -reminders -calendar events -alarms -contacts -indefinitely store forgettable information for later retrieval.
So you’ll be able to input anything that you need to organize. The shortcut will use ChatGPT to analyze it, rewrite it in a more neat way, identify whether the situation would be better fitted for any of the formats I mentioned above. Then the reminder/event/alarm/contact is added.
It’s as simple as that! I’d appreciate feedback, as it’s just the first version

This is the morning briefing/weather briefing shortcut I’ve been using and I’d really like it to all be read out to me/in one big text box. Here’s a photo of my shortcut, and screenshots of what appears when it’s run on the right.
I don’t want to read more than I need to, so I have the “if” functions for days when it’s raining or colder, but I can’t add those to a big text box. Is there a way to have this all read out together, rather than me needing to press buttons? I want to be able to glance and see all the info I need in one place when I run the shortcut.
I also want to make a more detailed weather shortcut, similar to the one that u/thecolster123 posted, but I would still want to add some conditional commands for my needs.
Let me know if this is possible!
(Edit: this doesn’t solve anything because it requires the iPhone to be unlocked - So I begrudgingly reported this to Apple at https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone/ and in the Feedback app)
For every Shortcut that doesn’t work correctly when you ask Siri to run it, add “Dismiss Siri and Continue” at the beginning of the Shortcut so that it becomes the first Action. (Scroll down to see the instructions)
If you’re not sure if you have this problem, then here’s the current malfunctioning behavior I’m referring to: you ask Siri to run the Shortcut but it doesn’t give a confirmation chime and Siri never dismisses itself. Furthermore, the Shortcuts that have more than one Action never get completed. So only the first Action runs and then Siri sits there with no confirmation chime and it never dismisses itself. For problematic Shortcuts with only one Action, that one Action is executed but Siri doesn’t give the confirmation chime and …
This is an oddly specific recommendation request, but I’m looking for podcasts that make you say “omg that person is crazy”, but not in a murder-y true-crime way.
Examples being: - Scamanda - Recent episodes on “Something was wrong” about the girl that was scamming a bunch of doulas and lying about pregnancies. - Sympathy Pains - stories about crazy roommates, catfishes, people lying about their entire backstory or making up traumatic events.
It doesn’t just have to be con-artists or scammers either!
Thanks in advance!
Target audience is dudes, “relatable” host, smart/funny/intentional interview style with guests…along the lines of a refreshing “antidote” for lack of a better word, to the above mentioned podcasts?
Update: these recommendations are amazing! Thank you so much!
I feel obligated to say right off the bat that this is a great problem to have, since the alternative is companies like Spotify buying up shows for exclusivity deals like they already tried and failed to do. Instead, we are still in a free, open podcast ecosystem that still uses RSS. Apart from how obnoxious and overbearing some of these canned ads have become compared to what podcasts ads used to be, it feels too good to be true.
So it’s understandable that a lot of shows offer bonus content through services like Patreon now. The problem is, I want to support a bunch of these shows I listen to, and a lot of the bonus content seems like stuff I would like, but with the number of shows I listen to already, even one or two bonus feeds would overwhelm me. That and most of them cost $5-10 a month, which would add up fast.
I really wish Patreon had a “just donate” button or something where I wouldn’t have to worry about unsubscribing every time and sending the host …
I’m looking for recommendations for a podcast that covers the basics I should’ve learned in school. Things like what is communism/socialism/democrats/liberals, what is economics, the world wars, civil wars, Greek and Roman history, etc. Thanks in advance!
Hey from UK and looking for podcast of friends just chatting and having a laugh about life. I like Patreon podcasts I listen to that have video too as feel like can get with the vibe more, only ones I’ve found via twitter are male friends in US. Do really enjoy the quick wit in them but be nice to find female friendship ones too.
I listen to my therapist ghosted me regularly too.
I’ve been interested in true crime lately. The way these murders occur is actually rather bizarre to hear about. I’d like to tune into a podcast that will captivate my attention. I would love to listen to anything like “Murder with my Husband,” since I kind of like the podcast. Any suggestions would be very appreciated, thanks in advance 😊
If it matters, I am a dude.
Thank you.
Holy sh*t guys, 76 upvotes !??? and so many comments I will try to go through them all. Thank you for your kind responses. You all are too kind.
I’m going to be 30 next year so I was wondering what you’d recommend so I can possibly squeeze them in before then lol. Any genre. Fiction or nonfiction.
Lol, prolly taking that to dinner on date night because you just had to know or reach the end.
Thriller or mystery? Something else?
Which book and why couldn’t you let go?
Tell me which books destroyed you emotionally. I’ll go first, We Need to Talk About Kevin is absolutely devestating. Can you recommend any sad books?
My daughters teacher recently asked us to find more challenging books for her to read. She’s in 3rd grade but reads at a 5th grade level. However, she struggles with death or sad storylines, she just wants happy books.
Some books she’s enjoyed are Mr Limoncello’s Library, The Gingerbread Witch, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, all Raina Telgemeier books, most of the babysitters club (one had a cat die and she didn’t finish it).
She recently put down Harry Potter because of Harry’s parents dying, even though she’s seen the movies and loves them.
Thanks in advance for any advice. She’s an avid reader and goes through a lot of books!
Edit: I’m working my way through all of the recommendations and we’ve already started a huge list and stopped by the library! Thank you so much for every single comment, we’re reading them all!
Not the self help kind but a book with a story (fiction or non-fiction) that really has stuck with you since you read it. I want to experience the feeling of being changed by a book in a way that the person I was before and after are not the same.
So what book changed you or got the closest to it?
For me, one of those games is Moonring, an immense roguelike, with an open world, a beautiful retro aesthetic and as much content as you could expect from a very well-crafted game, but for beautiful reasons in life it is free on Steam.
REVIEW [No Spoilers]
Well, I’m back, as promised! Just want to say thanks to all those who participated, I found it really fun and appreciated all the suggestions. Discovered some great looking games!
And now, for those of you who care, here is my review of the winning choice… Disco Elysium!
DISCO ELYSIUM
First off, full disclaimer, I have not finished this game. When I gave myself 48 hours to return with my review, I suppose I was opening myself up to the possibility of a game that would be too long to finish, and here we are. Either way I have played a good chunk and I can but offer my thoughts so far.
This game is fantastic.
I knew I was going to like it about 5 minutes in. This game manages to simultaneously feel like a breath of fresh air whilst warmly reminding me of classic games such as The Longest Journey or Syberia. As a new age adventure game though, what I find it has achieved masterfully is the ditiching of pixel finding and inventory puzzles with the …

I’m playing Thief Gold now and loving it. I’m looking for the best stealth games that have great atmosphere and that feeling that you’re really hiding! Thanks in advance.
Seriously anything. Strategy, puzzle, civilisation, tower defence, fucking spot the difference for all I care. As long as it is a genuinely enjoyable mobile game that is actually gameplay and not advert simulator.
