It’s 2024 and I feel shortcuts has been pushed aside despite its loyal user base. I absolutely love shortcuts but get frustrated that STILL shortcuts with a ton of data inside can be so laggy to execute, even with simple prompts. Even moving items around within a large shortcut can cause it to jolt around or refuse to select the item you’re clicking. This has been so frustrating to me that I’ve started to hate making large shortcuts.
I’m praying to the tech gods that Apple give it some love (and AI) in June. 🤞🏼
Are there any things you’d like fixing or adding in the next version of shortcuts?
Most of this was taken from other creators. I just made it to be exactly what I wanted.
Set: Sets alarms starting at time X and creates a total of the inputted # of alarms with intervals of Y. It labels them DeleteMe and then deletes all unset and non-repeating DeleteMe labeled alarms after. It cleans up after itself
Turn Off: Turns off every alarm, even ones without the DeleteMe label
Delete Unused Alarms: Deletes all unset and non-repeating DeleteMe labeled alarms after. Exactly like the second half of Set.
If you don’t want the annoying confirmation: In Settings > Shortcuts > Advanced > Allow Deleting Without Confirmation
The first run it will ask for permission for everything.
You can watch upcoming flights and get its details! Download: https://routinehub.co/shortcut/18629/
This automation is chefs kiss, at home It always wakes up when I don’t want I to and it’s getting annoying, I only use raise to wake when I need to check the time real quick.
That automation is simple but damn, wish I have known to make it ages ago.
Essentially, the idea is that whenever my phone is connected or disconnected from power, it will set low power mode to on or off depending on if it’s charging and the battery level. I’m more so wondering if the first part, with “If Charging” will work, because it was giving me issues setting it up
That game was originally made by u/robric18 but I’ve changed a few stuff, tell me what you guys think about it: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/086d448f70db4fc18e7f8e6c17506991
In a podcast slump. Love listening to them as I work and I can’t find something that’s clicked after my last finish (Death in Ice Valley by BBC and NRK). Looking for recommendations- can span any genre as I’m pretty open to everything. But I’d love it if you only recommend one podcast that is your absolute favorite. Thank you!
Edit: wow many thanks! Currently in the process of looking over recommendations on Spotify :)
I grew up experiencing homelessness and therefore was not in school much and when I was it was not very impactful vs the rest of my life. I’m, at 30 years old, just learning very basic things about history locally and globally. I like the podcast American History Tellers to give you an idea of the vibe i am able to learn from.
I would love if there was one that was really basic, maybe even relatively light hearted, and creative.
Thanks!

UPDATE: Wow, y’all are so nice and helpful. I was honestly feeling very insecure about this ask bc my lack of formal education is a little bit of a sore spot for me and I’m feeling very encouraged. Thank you so much!!!! ♥️ Upvoting every comment 🙏
Hi! I’m looking for some history podcasts, but im steering away from political topics as theyre not really my thing. Id love something that focuses more on the culture of regular people at different times through history. A great example of content i like is Tasting History with Max Miller. The way he jumps around different eras and just talks about what people were doing and eating back then is fascinating to me. Thanks!
I use Google podcast but is going to stop working and I want a new player. I like this one because is easy to use. Do you know another similar?
So I’m not exactly looking for “sleep” podcasts like the ones that read out stories, but something relaxing. For example, I really liked the first season of the Midnight Library, stuff like that relaxes me. I also love listening to music geek stuff like hit parade by Slate, or switched on pop. Food, culture and art won’t hurt too, I’ve just never found the right relaxing podcast for these. Appreciate any recs!!
Edit: Wow I have enough recs to last a lifetime lol thanks
I’m burning out in history, crime and current events podcasts. Looking to balance out my library with some more “escapist” pods, where entertaining hosts with great chemistry cover lightweight, interesting and completely inconsequential topics. Think Reply All (RIP).
The ones I’m currently really enjoying are Midnight Facts for Insomniacs, Endless Thread, Hard Fork. I realize Hard Fork isn’t really escapist but tech news is pretty light and the hosts are entertaining.
Honourable mentions: The Dollop, 99% Invisible, Stuff You Should Know, Search Engine.
Any other recommendations?
I’ve loved reading books that have really stuck with me. Books like Little Women or To Kill a Mockingbird or Eleanor Oliphant is Fine, they’ve all been books that taught me things I’ll cherish for a long time :DD How about you?
Edit: Thank you everyone for replying! I’ve found books I haven’t read or books I have since forgotten. You guys made me think a lot more deeply about which books have truly had an impact on me. Some further suggestions:
Where the mountain meets the moon by grace lin: Filled with tidbits of stories, it taught me true friendship, one that doesn’t judge.
Secret Garden: I read a lot of classics as a kid so Secret Garden opened my eyes to how you can change the perspectives of loved ones through hard work.
I Am Malala: I read this at a point in my life where I didn’t fully understand, but it still gave me hope that I could be something more in life :))
When Breath Becomes Air: Admittedly I picked it up because it was a …
I’ve read funny books, but they don’t usually go beyond a faint smile. I’m looking for that special book that makes you - at the very least - chuckle.
Anyone know of such a book?
And be original, so no “A Confederacy of Dunces” :)
I just finished reading The Martian by Andy Weir and it was amazing. I was literally hooked on the book within the first couple pages.
Naturally, I want to find more books like that. They don’t have to be a similar type of story to The Martian, it could be any type of fiction story, but I am looking for really great books that grab you right away. Drop a suggestion below for what book grabbed you right away and if I haven’t already read it, I’ll be sure to check it out! Thanks in advance!
Edit: Wow I have alot of suggestions, thanks guys!
Edit 2: I am gonna be busy for quite awhile with all the suggestions. I may have bitten off more than I can chew.
I didn’t like reading when I was a kid and my wife said I missed a lot of good books. She suggested flowers for algernon, the giver, and the phantom tollbooth recently.
What else should be on this list?
Im 31 and very often I come across books which I wish I read when I was in High school or college. So which books should I read now so that I dont regret when I come across them when im older
I usually read sad and tragic books. Is there any book that was either super funny or witty that made you happy? It doesn’t even have ti be funny. Just a book that made you happy. Also, I’m not a HUGE consumer of romance (unless it’s queer lol).
I recently broke my right arm and cant really play most of my steam library. I have been playing deltarune and undertale, i could also play hoi4 but my friend cant play with me do i probably wont. I could just grind runescape, but i wanted to hear what you have to say
Do you have an indie game that despite being an absolute banger you feel like no one but yourself has ever played? The kind you’ve never met a single other person who’s ever even heard of it?
I’d love to hear about it, for the sake of all those players digging DEEP into steam’s library after playing through all the major titles that get recommended over and over again.
Any genre, any year, as long as you feel like it’s worth playing.
Edit: thank you for the responses everyone. Hopefully all the desperate steam miners will find some gold in here today. 🙏
Edit Edit: Yall thank you so much, this has turned from panning for gold into a full blown gold rush. I hope some of yall find your new hyper fixation for the next few months somewhere in here.
im looking for a game where literally the only friendly character is you, the closest thing to this i can think of is battle royale games, extraction games, or for single player, long dark is the only game that comes to mind as roughly fitting the criteria, if anyone can help id greatly appreciate it
Ive been recently getting more into the world of gaming and find some of the game mechanics to be quite overwhelming. I dont necessarily mind dying a lot but I don’t want a game where I cant enjoy it because I can’t ever get past a minute or two without having to start over. I have really been loving Dying Light 2, For The King, Stardew Valley, Yonder, Plants vs Zombies, Patapon and Beacon Pines. I find myself struggling a lot more with games like Risk of Rain, Inside the Backrooms and really more generally most platforming type of games (I struggle a lot with timing jumps and get frustrated easily by it).
I loved Skyrim because it allowed me to get “back to nature.” The sprawling mountains and rolling hills were lush.
I was wondering what your favorite “nature” environments were in gaming. Thanks a lot!
Edit: Thank you for the responses, everyone! This is an incredible list, and you all have great taste. Gaming is my favorite hobby, and it’s because of the escapism into the natural world in so many games. Cheers!
