Hey guys!
I re-wrote SCSettings from scratch over the weekend and wanted to share.
In case you haven’t seen it, SCSettings is inspired by the old jailbreak tweak SBSettings. It allows you to quickly turn off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth (not just disable for a day), among a few other things.
It also has some useful links to pages in the settings app that are buried.

actions fo vCard menusI’m fairly new to Shortcut scripting, but did some programming “back in the late 1900’s Y2K” era so I understand script flow. Anyway, I’ve come up with a couple of automations that are helping me and 2⁄3 of my teenagers. I’m posting this in case it can help someone else, plus if anyone has any suggestions to beef it up. This shortcut is ran within an automation to kick off any time the phone is unplugged from a charger - warning: don’t throw your phone the first few times it startles you. The ADHD is very strong in our family I’m trying to find a healthy balance between remembering routines and nagging. Of course, the input list will vary according to what you need. Basically, this reads a random reminder from a set Trello list. The reminders are things like checking our chore list, crawling out of their cave, etc. I used a Trello list so I can change items on the list without chasing down each phone. I try to add and rephrase a few every couple of days.
Mission accomplished. Figured out how to automatically text my friends a cropped screenshot of my battery level when it hits 69%.
So. We all get pestered with spam calls daily, recently i answer and tell them I’ll transfer them to the owner or manager, the call 1 (248) 434-5508, then merge the calls, then put the call on hold. Its amazing… i die laughing doing so! Even better if its a cold caller here in the states cuz they immediately hang up. Anyways… i’m trying to come up with a way to make the process more seamless, with a Siri Shortcut… but the only action i find to automate is calling the number (currently toggled by the action button)
1) is there a way to true/false identify if the phone line is active (for an if/then to start the protocol if on the phone or exit if not)
2) i cant find a way to merge two calls with shortcuts, is there a way?
3) i cant find a way to put a call on hold with shortcuts, is there a way?
4) (bonus) is there a way to do a key press sound through the incoming answered phone call before “transfer”?
On the last iOS update, we had multi-step shortcuts break forcing a work around using “Dismiss Siri and Continue” which got the multi-step shortcuts to work, but at the cost of needing to unlock the iPhone first. (I should actually call it something like a shortcut aggregate. The issue isn’t with really with multiple steps, but rather using a shortcut that utilizes other shortcuts).
I was wondering for those who have already updated to iOS 17.5 (official and not beta), if
I ask for those who have updated the iOS already because I (in general) do not update on the first day of release and wait to see if there are any bugs that make me want to hold off on updating. I’m not asking people to update and find out. I’m asking for those who already updated to iOS …
i’ve listened to a good amount of podcast episodes and a lot of them i just end up forgetting about, except for a few i guess. are there any podcast episodes or series that are so memorable to u that you still think about? i’m looking for those types of episodes
What podcast episodes or series of episodes do you consider the best you’ve heard?
I really like What Went Wrong, one of my favorite discoveries of last year. I recently listened to the Fiascos episode of This American Life. Does anyone have any recommendations for podcasts about things, anything, going wrong, where the story teller is so good and so funny that you’ve laughed out loud or even cried from the telling?
Looking for something to like the title describes to fall asleep to, and I know Nightvale is sort like that but I’m looking for something more like a podcast then a news anchor/radio host kinda thing like Nightvale.
What’s your favorite example of a podcaster mispronouncing something?
Hi! I tend to listen to alot of podcasts while I work, and I enjoy getting a broad view of politics. I am currently having trouble finding a good podcast for the Democratic side of the aisle. I have a few I like on the republican side, and I would love some more options for that as well. I am trying to get a good, balanced view from both sides. I’m not really looking for a echo chamber of someone just screaming a fringe opinion into a microphone. (I’m shocked how many there are) I do not want to create fights about if someones podcast is bad or not, and I will try as many as possible. Thank you!
I’ve actually been enjoying the books I’ve read so far, but I want something that I can’t put down, a book that makes me fall in love with reading all over again. I don’t mind any genre as long as it’s fiction 😊
Edit: Thank you for all the replies! So many books to choose from 🫶
Hello friends,
I am looking to dip my toes into the horror genre. However, I am not really interested in reading anything by Stephen King. Nothing personal against him and I respect his accomplishments but I just find that he is often suggested ad nauseum (and probably for good reason). I’m really looking for some suggestions besides the usual suspects of King novels.
I appreciate any and all suggestions!!
Edit:
Wow!! Definitely did not expect this many responses and this level of interaction when I posted last night. Thank you guys so much for your responses! I’ve added like 20 new books to my Libby wishlist.
I read “My Year of Rest and Relaxation” today and enjoyed it immensely. I felt like I was reading my own inner monologue made wittier. Then looked up the book on goodreads, and saw the protagonist being criticized as being a catty, unlikable asshole. Well, I guess I am an asshole!
Please suggest me more books where the main character is one, so I can read your suggestions and revel in my assholery.
Bonus points if the character is either beautiful or very smart.
Thank you :)
Edit: thanks so much everyone, didn’t expect so many recommendations—I’m all set for the next few months :D
I’m feeling really behind in life. I have high expectations for myself and it’s taking a long time for my life to work out. (I’m 28). I’m wondering if there are any good memoirs written by women who struggled but succeeded in their goals? Or even weren’t successful! Thank you!
It could be self-help, biography, autobiography, scientific, nature related etc etc etc Any topic goes.
I am massively into character-driven stories. It’s my number one most important part of any fiction reading. Plot, world-building… I can happily toss it all aside for some good characters.
I want to know the books or series with characters that jump right into your heart and nestle in deep. The ones you can’t stop thinking about when you put the book down. The ones that stay with you long after their written stories are over.
Some games are played stock without mods, other games are mod havens that probably shouldn’t be played stock, and the rest fit somewhere in the middle. What games do you play and how do you play them? I’m looking for any way to have definitive fun.
Thanks and have a great day!
Preferably something that doesn’t make you want to jump out of a window cause it’s so frustrating because of the controls or other annoying things.
Graphics are not important to me though, could be a really ugly game idc.
I’m looking for any genre, games like Stardew Valley or Untitled Goose Game, maybe also Vampire Survivors fit here.
I’m looking for something that can evoke the same peace feeling that I usually have when I just take any random car and drive endlessly in Forza Horizon 5.
I’m ADHD so maybe any fellow can relate and recommend games that worked for they.
My gf who is 30 wants to get into gaming more but she doesn’t have all the time in the world and also has zero prior knowledge to it. We aren’t always together so I let her borrow my Steamdeck. What are some games that you think a non gamer can enjoy on the steam deck?
So far I gifted her vampire survivors
I’m lazy and like to just mindlessly play something while I talk to friends.
Games like this I currently play:
Bloons TD 6
Bejeweled Blitz
Teamfight Tactics
Sid Meier’s Civilization V
A short hike
Geometry Dash
Poly Bridge
I’m looking for stuff like factorio, rim world games where I can command people to do stuff or build colonies and automate supply chains.
Maybe stuff where big number goes up.
I also want games where I can drift a car around as well
