Drive smart, not hard
Specify three or more locations and this Shortcut will compute the optimal ordering of stops. Can specify locations from a few different sources, including being able to paste in a list of addresses.
You can specify whether to optimize for travel time, travel distance, or straight line distance. Straight line distance runs faster because it takes a few seconds to compute driving times using maps. You can also retain the input order of the route if desired.
This is similar to what the RoadWarrior app does, but you get it for free as a vanilla shortcut!.
hi guys! kinda late but i want to share what i did with my action button. basically i wanted a button that changes based on the situation where I am. So here’s a map of how my action button works based on focus mode (also other parameters like if it’s locked or in which orientation the phone is) It’s easier than you think. If you want to say something that can improve it and help me say it!! let me know what you think guys and If you have any question about it (screen/video), I would love to answer!

Custom Do Not Disturb
I made this shortcut a while back and found it very helpful, thought some people might appreciate it like I do!
Tutorial: Picture 1 is the screen you will land at. Click a preset to easily turn on DND only for that amount of time.
If you want to turn it on for a specific amount of minutes, you can do that too! Click “Custom minutes…” will land you on pic 2, just type in your desired time in minutes (eg. 2.5 hours is 150 mins).
Or, what if all you want is to study til 6:35pm and not be disturbed? You don’t have to settle for the closest preset or calculate how many minutes it will be from now, simply click “specific time…” and you can (pic 3) select what day and time you want the DND to end (yes, it could last for days if you want!)
You will get a notification telling you the ending time of the DND session for all the 3 scenarios.
You can find the source code on pic 4.
Guide for customization: (skip these paragraphs if you aren’t planning to modify the …
Hello! Just wanna share a tutorial I made here. I saw this use case of creating a shortcut using GPT-4o to explain images in realtime in a newsletter I’m subscribed (the Rundown AI). I went to see how they set it up, but was met by a paywall. Womp. So i tinkered for a little while and figured out how to do exactly this, so I made a quick video this morning to walk through the process of building this. Take a look if you’re interested! Would love to hear feedback too, I just started dabbling with Shortcuts recently.

I began listening to podcasts in 2014. Like many, I was lured into the medium by the cultural riptide of Serial: Season One and never escaped. In the ten years since, I’ve listened to thousands of hours of podcasts across every genre.
Around five years ago, I began keeping a master list of my favorite episodes – the ones I couldn’t stop thinking about. The ones I took the long way home just to finish. The elusive-but-precious “driveway episodes.”
I retroactively refitted it to include all of my favorite episodes. The full list is below.
Please add your own recommendations to it! This community is so solid for recommendations. Happy listening!
This American Life
Radiolab
My favorite discovery of 2024 would be Someone Is Killing The Wolfhounds. It’s a dramatized version of a real man’s account of his time in the Vietnam War. It’s riveting and it kept me hooked. I finished it within a day. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested.
What is yours?
Just a thought that I’ve had with podcasts and YouTube channels, especially ones with banter or are supposed to be funny/entertaining - it feels more and more apparent to me when people are playing things up for the mic/camera.
I get this hollow vibe from conversations that feel like they’re not felt genuinely, or that so much effort is being put into making it feel like a high energy exchange.
This isn’t most podcasts or shows I’ve listened to to be clear, just an observation one had for a bit. Curious if people have experienced similar things.
I don’t listen to TAL often but I caught it on the radio today. I was pleasantly surprised to hear Emmanuel Dzotsi (formerly off Reply All) guest hosting the first segment. But then I found myself really annoyed because his speaking cadence sounded just like Ira. Same thing in the second segment, I was happy to hear David Kestenbaum (formerly of Planet Money), then he did the same I m then he did the same Ira imitation. What gives?
I recently made the attempt to the listen Cold, specially the Susan Cox Powell case. I made it until they started playing the audio of Susan being harassed by the father. It was so unsettling to hear her voice, and how uncomfortable she was around those men.
I read ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ by Khaled Hosseini and I don’t think I’ve ever cried like a toddler because of a book. What book made you cry? A book that conjures such strong emotions must be good IMO.
As the title says, what book did you get recommended that you hated and why? Mine definitely has to be “The 7 1⁄2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle.” I liked the concept, but the gross fat phobia and just the dragging out of it made me DNF! They could have done so much more with it!
At the ripe age of 29, I’m currently reading my way through the Harry Potter series for the first time and maybe it’s just because I’m pregnant but there are times (especially reading about the Weasely household) that I legitimately feel sad that I can’t just live in that world lol. Another book that gave me that feeling was Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune. Any other suggestions?
We all know books are better than their movie adaptations, but what about when they aren’t? Does anyone have any recommendations for books where the movie absolutely is superior? And I’m not talking about Novelizations either. The book has to be the original source material. Bonus points if the book was actually a good read to begin with.
I’ll go first: What Dreams May Come by Richard Matheson.
I read the fiction thread and got plenty of ideas from that but I’m liking fantasy right now. So what are the fantasy books you couldn’t put down because they were so good?
I am having probably the worst year to date in terms of lacking 5 star, can’t put it down books. I have just not read anything this year that I loved and I am forgetting what it feels like to be obsessed with a book. I’ve read 3 5-star books this year but they were all nonfiction.
What is your can’t put it down 5 star read. Bonus points for literary fiction bc that’s my favorite genre, but open to a lot! I’m desperate
As the title says, what games do you play that make you go “im having a blast right now”. Games that once you’re done playing, it leaves you feeling better than before.
It can be any genre/type of games, doesn’t matter, as long as you’re truly having fun playing it. Reason I’m asking this is because I’d love to find a replacement for the current game that im playing, i feel like shit everytime i play and everytime im done playing it leaves me in a worse mood than before.
So I’d love some game recommendations, the only criteria is that you’re having fun when you play said games. Genre/etc don’t matter, thank you!
Been feeling extremely lonely recently and I don’t think any of my friends care to play anything with me anytime soon. I’m looking for some suggestions for games that might somehow help this feeling dissipate. I will say, I’d like the suggestions to be shorter games. I’ve got a big move coming up at the end of the month and I don’t want to get into a game that I end up craving when I can’t play it haha
Also, no Stardew Valley. Played it a ton already this year and I wanna play somethin else now (this was the only game as a potential suggestion that I could think of)
Thanks :)
new edit: alright, so, I’m fully aware of the whole topic of ‘male loneliness’ at the moment. I initially expected this to not really garner much attention, so I didn’t think about my wording. what I’ve got going on is temporary, just based on where my life is currently at. I extend much sympathy to anyone who can relate to this. However, I do …
Preferably a game that has a lot of replay ability and content to where I can dump like 100 hours into it
Basically, I’m sick of immediately getting on social media every time I have a spare moment. I need a game that I can play for a few minutes at a time rather than mindlessly scroll while I’m waiting in line or, let’s be honest, taking a shit. I’m not too picky about the genre at this point, just as long as it only takes a few minutes at a time and is fun and addicting.
I’m a big fan of indie games, but I want a game that can help me through this grief and help me escape. I have PC so most games aren’t a hassle for me to get. (Also no stardew valley I already have 500+ hours in that game)
I want games with heaps of content, games that always have tasks to complete
What games can i spend thousands of hours in?
Looking for games that have both custom map editors or mods and cool action.
Games i liked are just cause, botw and totk
What about driving games with custom maps? Keep in mind i don’t have a steering wheel rig
