I gave my neighbour the power to turn my music down
I love listening to music loud, and usually it doesn’t affect them and the sound doesn’t leave my apartment.
But when I listen in the bathroom, unfortunately it can leak into his bedroom, which is adcjaent.
In the off-chance I’m having a shower concert at a time when he needs more quiet in his bedroom, I made this shortcut.
Any time he can text me “volume down” and it turns my music down to level that doesn’t reverberate the walls.
Usually it isn’t an issue because he’s not home. But I consider this a great concession in case our schedules conflict.
Our apartments have excellent soundproofing, so turning it down to 70% takes care of any sound leak.
High trust with my homie neighbour. 💪🏼
So it basically gets triggered when my iPhone is connected to WiFi at work. It gets the current time and adds 8 hours to it. Then it sends a notification telling me when my shift ends. And when that time comes, it sends me another notification telling me to leave.
I wrote automation that would WhatsApp my wife I love her every time I left the house.
She caught on by the 3rd time that it was an automation. She said automated love doesn’t count. Heh
I should have added some randomization.

Folks in this sub are too serious. I appreciate the concern folks but my marriage is fine. Even my wife knew this was just in good fun.
But folks will be glad to hear I did tweak the automation. Now when I leave, it asks me if I want to send a message, then it starts dictation, then lets me edit the dictated text if I need, and then it sends that message to her along with I love you.
This lets me send something specific and relevant to the day/time.
Feeling impatient with long waits (especially in the EU), I decided to recreate Apple’s Intelligence text improvement feature using ChatGPT. Now, you can easily enhance your text: just select it, tap, swipe to share, and send it via the shortcut. The improved text will be instantly copied to your clipboard.

I’m trying to create an automation to collect the cellular “cellular usage statistics” every month.
I successfully turning off the WiFi and cellular to stop consuming from the next month quota but I cannot find a way to read that statistics to store anywhere
Any help on this?
Mine comes from Episode 1 of Crash Course Pods: The Universe with John Green and Dr. Katie Mack. A podcast I discovered thanks to this sub, btw.
So, about 40 minutes into the episode 1 on the creation of the universe they mention that:
A) most of the hydrogen atoms in the universe were created in the first two minutes of the universe, and
B) most of the atoms in our bodies are hydrogen, therefore
C) most of the atoms in our bodies were formed when the universe was two minutes old.
I’ve heard that we are all made of stardust, which in theory is true, we are made of the same things as stars. But more accurately, we are all big bang dust.
We have atoms in our body literally as old as the universe itself. Parts of each one of us were there when it all happened. 💥

Heres a link to an article that also discusses this for anyone interested.
I sometimes find it hard to listen to podcasts who are widely popular or have celebrity guests just because I can never relate to them. Does anyone else prefer podcasts with more average hosts?
what are the ones you heard a hundred times before going to bed?
some of mine are: dreamboy, welcome to nightvale, scp archives, midnight burger, amelia project, welcome to the magic tavern, dungeons and daddies
Hello there, I have a question regarding podcasts, and I figured the best place to ask is here, since I dont follow and listen to them often. This week I will be making a trip across my country, and since it is a private trip I will be traveling alone for about 3 to 4 hours until my destination. My question to you good people is, what are your favorite/funniest/most interesting podcasts that could and would help me kill those 4 hours? They dont have to last exactly 4 hours, I will probably add more shorter ones to my playlist and just listen to them in random order. Thank You in advance!
I recently looked up the hosts of some of my favorite audio only podcasts on google images, I wish I hadn’t because I liked the mystery narrator feeling when listening.
Anyone else feel the same way?
I’m a true crime fan, but once I found Heavyweight, I binged the whole thing within a couple weeks. I think it’s the getting ahold of people from long ago that makes it for me. Does anyone know of any other podcasts where they try locating or calling people from long ago for whatever reason? Whether it’s cuz of a crime or just long lost friends from way back, thanks in advance
The definition of a “beautiful book” is up to you I guess.
i want a book that fits people who are feeling lonely. i don’t want big bonds between inseparable friends, i don’t want happy marriages, i want regular people working through life and maybe as unhappy and lonely as me! thank you
What contemporary books are destined to be classics?
I swear it is the same 15-20 books that get recommended in this subreddit.
Every thread is just like the following:
Suggest a nonfiction book. Have you heard of Into Thin Air?
Need a fantasy book? Try Piranesi.
Looking for some wonderful prose. Checkout Demon Copperhead
It is the same in every thread.
Give me ones that you have never seen recommended before.
Edit: This was really fun y’all. A lot of great recommendations on here. We should do this from time to time.
What book made you feel disturbed or or unsettled in a way where you can recall the feeling even a long time after finishing the book?
Matilda was my favorite book as a kid and I really hope one day if I have kids they can enjoy it as much as I did! My husband really hopes our future Kids love the captain underpants books they meant a lot to him as a kid. 😅 I wanna know what childhood books you hope yours will one day enjoy

Hey friends, I am having surgery on my right hand in a few days, and I won’t be able to use it for a month or two. I want to keep enjoying my new pc, but I’ve realized virtually all of my games require both hands. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks :)
Update: Thanks everyone. You’ve helped make it so my healing process will be much less of a bummer
I’ll go first, Fallout 3.
We have all played a game where the world was so immersive and open for you to explore…
Where stuff is actually there for a reason and there’s cool lore, side quests, and locations to checkout.
Games like: Fallout, Elder Scrolls, GoT, RD2, Sleeping Dogs, GTA San Andrease, etc.
I’d love to hear your suggestions on good underrated open world games.
i just don’t want anything other than:
1: good animations
2: good combat
3: idc if it has supernatural abilities or not
e.g. cyberpunk’s combat (it’s cool just look at a montage) and devil may cry 5
Hi. I want to buy new game. I previously liked games like GTA 5 (online), Sea of Thieves, Hearts of Iron IV, Skyrim, Path of Exile, Counter Strike, Dead by Daylight and Terraria
Games I didn’t enjoy so far: Monster Hunter World (I don’t really know why, but was just boring for me but I would give it a second chance tbh), Elden Ring (very good and fun game but I think it’s just not for me cause of I don’t know what to do except exploring), Borderlands 2 (same as MHW but I would not give second chance lol).
I’m of course open to all recommendations :)
Ill start it off and many may not see what I see in it but its Furi for me.
