I haven’t learned anything new for years so I’d love some recommendations based on my skill level.

The British History podcast just announced they are no longer making their podcasts available on Spotify. The reasons? Spotify often corrupts episodes. Spotify often drops episodes from the feed. Spotify does not pay podcasters. Spotifys owner is spending the money on war robots! True story. Anyway.
My brother is suffering from a disease called ME/CFS, which for him includes extreme weakness and extreme sensitivity to stimuli — all he can do all day is listen to podcasts or audiobooks that aren’t too energetic. He also has terrible brain fog, so he can’t think too quickly or deeply.
I’m looking for podcast recommendations that: 1. Aren’t too energetic (a calm narrator, no music, not too funny or too depressing as emotions can send him into a crash) — basically sensitive to sensory needs 2. Minimal jarring sound effects or ads 3. Preferably still sounds good when slowed down to like 0.8x 4. Nonfiction, maybe about like animals or inventions — think Discovery Channel “How It’s Made” or Animal Planet “Top 10 ___” vibes
Would also appreciate recommendations of any podcasts (or even audiobooks) of any topic that’s calm and even-keeled!! Thank you!!
I just want a casual podcast that most people listen to, not murder mystery just some fun banter or nice discussions
Please give me some podcast episode recommendations that made you know more about the social world. I love politics and history. I want episodes that really taught you a lot about sociology, history, politics. I just finished a few on redlining and the ongoing battle of media responsibility. I have some this week on the science behind genocide and the idea of communism but give me all your best reccs!!! Thank you so much
Hey guys, so I’ll be doordashing for awhile and rather than listening to Brain rot music for 40 hours a week, I would like to sprinkle in some podcasts. Here are some interests I have:
Sports, film, politics, mystery, Lord of the Rings, self help, & Spanish (I want to learn Spanish).
Now with that being said, I accept any and all recommendations. I find a lot of different things interesting so it doesn’t need to be related to the likes I have.
Hi, I’m looking to be better informed. I’ll be honest I haven’t looked into great deal for what is happening between Isreal and Palestine (I know, I know…) but I’m feeling overwhelmed on where to start. Could someone point me in the direction of some podcasts/specific episodes to start that explain it? Other sources welcome too but I do love being able to listen rather than read.
No hate please, I’m trying ✌️
as the title says and it has to be around 100 pages long, because i’m tiktok brain and thanks
edit: Thank you all for the suggestions imma immediately put away tiktok and read all of them because they all interest me very much
Lord of the Rings, obviously. We’ll get there.
Give me the best memoir(s) you’ve read, and why they stuck with you. I’d love ones especially for people I haven’t even heard of that really blew you away! (Or people whose had a lot more to say that expected?)
btw I’ve already read I’m Glad My Mom Died ;)
Ya know the underdog kind of story. Or maybe the something that revolves around body positvity
What was a book you read in high school, college, or grad school that you’ll never forget, and changed you? Why? Let’s share and discuss.
I love long books, but I am curious to know other opinions and whether you think the length was appropriate and worth it.
Hi, first off I would like to add that I have no idea how reddit works, I do not play games and I have no idea how to phrase the following but I will try my best. My husband is a gamer since I have known him, he loves it and loves to tell me all about them, I don’t really understand but I do listen and I try to ask question and be there for his passion. Lately he lost interest, he doesn’t play and doesn’t talk about them, I have tried to ask about it and he says that he is not sure what happened, he just isn’t in the mood. I’m wondering if that ever happened to you guys and what did you do…
P.s. I know it may sounds strange, I just love him and and that’s all. I try to embrace his passion as best as I can, even the ones that I don’t get.
P.s.2. I stayed with him while he played one of those games (Assassin’s Creed I think it was) and he was all excited to show me, so it is a small step but I do wonder if others have been trough …
TL;DR : Games are cool. I like them. I’m a loser who’s played too much of them. Scroll past the essay to see my list.
This is by no means an original topic, but I’ve been thinking about it recently and wanted to throw my proverbial hat into the ring. I want to discuss a few topics that I find important then I will put my list at the end. There are really a few things that make games really “stick” for me.
The first is the games that are really an experience of its own. These are the games that I would point to whenever the discussion of “Are video games art?” comes up. With these the gameplay doesn’t necessarily have to be incredible (although it should be functional). They usually have great story and/or art design. These games almost always change my life to some extent one way or another. The main ones that I am thinking of are games like Outer Wilds, Firewatch, Ori and the Blind Forest, and the Bioshock series. These games, …
I would like to play a game where time causes a ramp in difficulty (more enemies, scarce resources, etc.). I don’t really care about the genre, could be survival, single player or whatever.
I already played Dying Light, Dredge and Grounded. I’m aware of Dying Light 2 but it seems inferior compared to the first game.
Thanks in advance :)
I want to feel sad. It needs to have a great storyline preferably with very lovable main/side character dieing or giving up on thier morals
I have found myself in the last 4 months super excited to get home from work and sit down and play some games. Then I sit down at my computer and just stare blankly at steam and all the other games I have and I have no clue what to play. I have an extensive history from games like Rainbow Six, Fallout, many simulators, league, valorant, binding of issac, boarderlands, elden ring, dead by daylight. Yet I sit here at my desk for hours not being able to even open a game that will peak my interest. does anyone have any recommendations that are low budget as I don’t really have the money for expensive games at the moment.
As the title suggests, looking for a game with a great sense of exploration. Rather than just purely random exploration I would like good story or at least a sense of progression or uncovering a mystery.
At the minute I’m replaying Starcom Nexus and I’m really enjoying the exploration and uncovering story beats. I’m also playing The Alters and really enjoying it, but I’m enjoying the exploration and uncovering mystery more than the base mecahnics. Darkwood is another great one that I’ve played that pops to mind.
Games I haven’t played but I think would fit well are No Man’s Sky and Death Stranding. Looking for more suggestions, particularly ones that play well or suit the Steam Deck as my time at my desktop pc is very limited unfortunately.
Edit: As suggestions are made I realise more that I have played. I have played and enjoyed Subnautica, Frozen Waters, The Forest, Outer Wilds, Firewatch
So i made a quick api grab shortcut from London TFL for live transport disruption reports.
Every morning when I pick up my wallet I can tap and check status without having to open the app and see if I need to reroute my journey.
(Shortcut below is specifically for London transport users. Go to automations, select NFC as trigger, scan the Oyster Card and call the attached shortcut.)

Hi everyone! I’m an indie iOS developer, and I wouldn’t call myself undisciplined—yet my Screen Time numbers tell a different story. I keep falling into endless scrolling loops.
To break this unconscious habit, I created a Shortcut that forces me to read one page before any “time-sink” app can open.

minutes / hours / days (configurable), the target app opens as usual.I’ve used the Shortcut for four days, and my average daily screen-time on those apps has already dropped by about 16 %—the …
I’m new to shortcuts and went down a hole yesterday and I’m coming up with different shortcuts and automations. I’ve been thinking of funny things to do with it as well, not just the ones that are helpful.
I’m currently working on one where I say “Siri, let’s annoy someone” and it asks who so it searches through the contacts and repeats a text to them 10-15 times. Just annoy some friends.
What’ve y’all seen? What’ve y’all got?
No need to have any shortcuts in control center, they can all just be on one spot
