Secretly added this one onto my wife’s phone and had it randomly trigger throuhout the day. It essentially allows you to make someone’s phone speak text that you control from your notion database.
I had it say random words each day when I wasn’t around so she thought she was going crazy lol. It was as amusing as it was childish..
Here’s how you’d configure the notion database. The shortcut will say the bottom unchecked box each time the shortcut is triggered. It’ll check the box once it’s done.
You’ll also need to grab an API Key and Database ID from your notion.

INTRODUCING: Clip and Clip History.
Clip makes a list of your clipboard history.
Clip History allows you to view, clear, and add to your history for easy access minutes, days, or months later. (I’ll have to attach this one to a new post because of the 1 attachment limit)
Here I made a new Apple feature (two shortcuts working together) that saves your most recently copied items to a file in iCloud. That means this Clip History can be accessed between all Apple devices, if set up correctly.
This was meant to mimic how Windows saves a Clipboard History, which is accessible through windows key + v. Right now, copied items can only be text and links (which can be easily opened through this).
To get this full functionality, it’s best to replace the generic copy button on the share sheet with this “Clip” shortcut. Then I have the “Clip History” shortcut on my homescreen for easy access. I also love having this in Control Center in iOS 18 Beta.
I …
I was curious about what shortcuts you guys are using for the action button, now that it’s almost been a year since it was launched. Thanks :)
So I’m hoping with iOS 18 implementing Send Later that there will ultimately be a proper solution for this, but in the meantime we have a working fix.
As you may know, the Driving focus mode allows a preset text to be automatically sent to incoming messages. For whatever reason, iOS limits this feature solely to this individual focus mode, but perhaps more frustratingly only with your saved contacts.
However, we can jankily accomplish the same outcome through Automations (which cannot be shared, else I would upload here for you). Follow the attached screenshots to manually input the Automation instructions… Note for the “when I get msg containing” prompt: you just tap spacebar once, then proceed.
This Automation will produce the desired auto-reply to any incoming message: contact or non-contact, iMessage or SMS. No confirmation required! The caveat is that the incoming message must include a space in its contents, i.e., it cannot be a one word text (in theory it …
I used to have a 2-4week backlog of stuff I listen to consistently for at lest 10 years, but recently I’ve totally ‘caught up’ and have been listening to old episodes to fill the void.
Edit: My list: https://old.reddit.com/r/podcasts/comments/1egulun/anybody_else_feel_like_their_podcast_feed_has/
A lot of my faves have shut down, and I’ve had to cut others out because the quality has gone down.
I’ve posted for some recommendations, but they just don’t fit the style of what appeals to me, well produced, story driven narratives.
Not a fan of ‘two people talking’ dragging out 10 minutes of content into 40. Talk radio usually falls into this category.
2024, and it really feels like the podcast landscape has really shifted.
Edit: No offense, but most of your suggestions suck. This is just my opinion of course. Latest examples: Slow Living podcast. A middle aged lady, just rambling on a microphone. Zero sound design. Just talking …
“Hysterical” about a group of teenage girls who all present the same symptoms of an inexplicable disease (brand new show)
“The Rise and Fall of Ruby Franke” about famous family YouTuber who was investigated for child abuse
“King Slime” about the YSL trial (that trial has been wild though there hasnt been an update recently on the podcast)
Do you have more like this? Let me know. Im tearing through shows on roadtrips and I need recs too!
a podcast I would love to recommend is Nine Days in July. it talks about the 9-day Apollo 11 Mission
A Few Blockbuster Podcasts Are Making All the Money
“The podcast industry was initially a way for a crowd of voices from culture watchers to true-crime nerds to talk about everything from murders to science and sex. All you needed was a decent microphone. Now, podcasting is turning into an industry of megastars who command the most money and the biggest audiences. There are still nearly 450,000 active shows that have published recent episodes, according to Podcast Industry Insights. “
Are there any podcasts with a Patreon that are worth it because they do more over there?
I was taking an Uber home from work today and the Uber driver had on this podcast which a black man who sounded like Tupac was speaking. He was ranting about Kamala Harris and JD Vance and how Asians(he points out Indians in particular) are doing better than black people in terms of being successful. He would use gun sound effects almost every 30 seconds and he would play a cue that sounds like old-school black church music. It sounded like this guy was off his meds. I do not know the name of this podcast but does anyone have any idea what it could be?
Which author writes consistently well enough that you don’t second guess buying their books?
For me, it’s Erik Larson, but I’m caught up with his work. I’ve only recently began to prioritize reading and would love to have more go-to authors.
Edit: Everyone, thank you all so much for your suggestions! I’ll admit I underestimated the amount of responses this question would get, but you all have given some excellent recommendations. I believe my reading list is set for the next five years. haha
For me, it’s the A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers. It was so hyped up, and a lot of people recommended me that book. I was so excited to read it, but it wasn’t for me at all. I understand people who liked it, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. The writing was just too pretentious for me, like it was just trying too hard to be edgy. The protagonist was so insufferable and narcissistic (though that was the main point of her character, really. so it made sense), but I just can’t stand her. It was written in a very unhinged manner, and not in a good way; at least in my opinion. I felt like the author was watching me while reading the book, waiting for my reaction, to praise her about how great it is.
Honourable mention: A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Trauma dumping isn’t the only way to create a ‘sad book’. Very repetitive and tiring to read. I have never felt so exhausted reading a book. it goes all over again and again and again with all the …
Name your genre! I feel like I have so many books I could list.
Sometimes I just feel out of books to read (even though that’s categorically untrue) and wish I could just read a book I love with no memory of reading it before. What book(s) comes to mind for you?
Im personally getting tired of seeing the same 20 books being praised all across social media. It makes it really really difficult to find good suggestions. Im searching for books that are really really good but just haven’t gotten the traction they deserve.
For example, The City We Became by N. K Jemisin would count since i havent seen too many people talk about it, but Acotr, pride and prejudice, 1984, animal farm, harry potter, etc etc wouldnt.
a book you read that was hyped up a lot, and you ended up loving it so much more than you thought you would
Everyday in this sub at least 1 person a top-tier prompt, eliciting dozens– if not hundreds– of phenomenal recommendations. Settings, themes and archetypes I didn’t even realize I yearned for myself.
A book with a badass childless cat lady? Favorite Octavia Butler and Stephen King books? The most beautiful book you’ve ever read?
I lurk from the shadows, laughing maniacally as I jot down titles. Profiting from the wealth of recommendations, curated for someone else. Basking in the glory of my bloated libby wishlist.
Thank you.
I know it’s tough, but try your best :) haha. This may also depend on mood. I guess my only advice would be to take a solid 10 minutes or so to REALLY think about. I know I have and these are my top 5 games ever… ranked
Cut Games: Skyrim, Fallout 4, Monster Hunter World.
I’m looking for a game that when it ends it leaves me being a mess of tears, huge plus points if it has great soundtrack.
Any genre is okay!.
Examples of games that I’ve played that have left me this way are:
I thought about this question a bit for myself, and I came to realize how I personally think that games that aren’t advertised and marketed as horror games but are still scary, tend to be even more scarier just because the horror element isn’t the *main* element, but when it comes around it really makes you feel unsafe.
My best example has to be Subnautica. A game that isn’t represented as “horror” per se, but still one of the scariest games I’ve played. Another one I thought of is Minecraft, albeit a bit more debatable, but can be terrifying at times.
What are some more games like this?
As the title says, what game makes you forget about your own life? I’m looking for suggestions, no horror though.
My favorite game is dark souls 1, but ever since I’ve played cyberpunk 2077 I literally cant play anything else. I love that game so much that it genuinely hurts me. I have 600 hours on cp77 and I’m currently about to start another playthrough.
I’m just looking for a game that has close to that level of immersion, some other games I enjoy are rdr2, monster hunter, terraria, baldurs gate, and dragons dogma 1. I love every single soulsborne game but my favorites are DS1 and Sekiro
I’m desperate for suggestions because if this keeps up I might be in a constant cycle of replaying cyberpunk until I die.
Edit: thanks guys for the suggestions !!!!!!!!!! I just bought the Witcher 3
What are your go to games to actually feel like you’re having fun when you’re extremely intoxicated on weed, alcohol, or illegal substances? 💀
GTA is pretty classic. Really anything where my high dumbass can just mash buttons and have a good time while watching the screen be pretty
By permanent character death, I don’t mean permadeath where the game starts over when you die. I mean a game where the character you play as can die, and you must continue the story as a different character.
The best example I can give for what I’m looking for is the legacy version of the board game Betrayal at the House on the Hill. In that version of the game, players die often, but pick up the story in the following generation as a character related to the previous character they played as, sort of like passing the torch, or continuing the story.
I tried googling this but only found results for games with permadeath options. I assume that with some games like what I am looking for, the game would restart to a degree, but I’m mainly looking for a game where each character you play as continues the story.
Sorry if this is a little confusing, I’m having trouble explaining what I mean, but if anyone knows of any games similar to what I am talking about, I …
