I had high hopes when I started using them weeks ago but the more I learn about their limitations the more useless I find them. So many basic/advanced features lacking, the OS blocking some existing features, automation features at their bare minimum … it’s only for niche needs I guess?
I don’t know what cool updates beyond the If statement update could be waiting for us so I don’t want to reinvent my wheel by having to edit my shortcuts further to account for newer changes and improvements to Shortcuts in iOS 18.
Anyone else feel this way?
Here is my realization on how much I love this app,
It finally turn your iPhone in a real computing device. You don’t need third party apps anymore for simple stuff. You can almost code your own program !
This morning, I had to send a copy of my identity card, I take a photo, I send it via the website…. Image too big, they wanted it to be less than 2MO.
I don’t have to download a free app full of adware or boring stuff, I open shortcut, and voila, converting photo to jpeg.
For most basic stuff we don’t need thirds party apps !
Loving it !
Hello everyone. Like many of you, I absolutely love the shortcut app and use it everyday. It’s just so convenient. What I love even more is building and sharing them! I spent countless hours creating hundreds of shortcuts, some with thousands of blocks, and that for many years. Most peoples don’t realise how complex they can actually get, and I have so much fun testing how far they can go.
During all of those years, there have been one key feature that I found missing and thought would come soon. Function. What’s that? It’s useless? You can already do it? Well I disagree. I wish for it regularly, as well as elif and [and/or] in if blocks (which is finally coming).
I already suggested the idea a while ago but it doesn’t seems like it’s coming anytime soon. So now I’ll just try to convince you that it’s a good idea and hope for the best.
The current method of mimicking a function is to call a shortcut from another and …
I’ve been looking for a podcast that’ll terrify me and make me feel vulnerable, paranoid, unsettled and disturbed while at work. I’m not looking for true crime or paranormal. I’ve checked out stuff like Lore and Knifepoint Horror. But nothing is scratching that itch that’ll make my skin crawl and make me feel like something is creeping up behind me or that I’m unsafe where I sit. A lot of the podcasts I checked out also are reading stuff in more analytical way when I want something spooky with spooky music that’ll enhance the experience.
The feeling you get when browsing disturbing memes or looking at uncanny valley images. I’m really hoping I can find this in audio form.
I have medicine that I need to take when I first wake up, then lie down for an hour. I usually just doom scroll on my phone but I wanna make healthier choices.
What are your upbeat, funny, insightful, inspiring shows?
Some shows I already like are You’re Wrong About, Decoder Ring & Dig.
After reading yet another post about the glory that is Heavyweight, I just decided to let Jonathan Goldstein know we miss him…maybe if we all start posting, the wheels will start turning again!

UPDATE: draft letter and proposed plan for data gathering to support it is now in the comments. How should we proceed??
I use to listen to What Say You? religiously (Brian Quinn and Sal Vulcano of Impractical Jokers fame) but they ended that aaaaaages ago and I’ve never found anything as good or similiar.
E.g. “The case of the missing hit” & “long distance”(especially the first one) ruined the whole “reply all” for me, I listend bunch of episodes and I do love RA but those two episodes are just so good and imo probably the best ones any podcast ever produced. “Shine on your craze Goldman” sort of came close but I’m not sure I would ever experience the same feelings whilst listening “the case if the missing hit”
To be honest I’m not sure what I’m after, I’m trying different ways to calm my anxiety. I used to make lists, of things to do or things bother me and checking them off helped a little.
Every now and then I find myself worrying over nothing, or seeing too much negative stuff in the media, over thinking - the works!
I don’t mean in the romance way lol. I don’t know if this makes sense, but I’m wondering about books that have an otherworldly, magical quality. I’m open to Magical Realism, but I’m even more amazed when the feeling comes from the setting itself.
For reference, my favorite book of all time is The Book Thief, which I think captures the vibe really well. I just want a sense of being transported somewhere.
Not a 9⁄10 or 10⁄10, but an actual 11⁄10.
The book you consider to be the actual pinnacle of the medium, the book that you genuinely think is unmatched. The book that your heart aches over, because you’ll never experience it for the first time again. And please be as in-depth as to why.
Free licence to gush over your favorite work/the work you consider to be the greatest in all aspects (Spoiler free please!), no matter how cliche, over discussed, obvious, or even controversial.
I’m looking for a book that’s fun to read- any genre is okay. Maybe it was silly, maybe it was serious but a book that had you grinning from start to finish.
Fun is open for interpretation! I just want to hear about a book you loved that made you smile.
Looking for a book that’s impressively bad but in a way that makes it a blast to read. Something I’ll have lots to say about if I read it together with friends. Thanks!
I got recommended to read more books that are intellectually challenging since I mostly read novels but I also have ADHD and most books I cannot finish them. I’m sure most regular recommendations like Crime and Punishement or Gödel, Escher, Bach even if I like them I will not finish them so I am looking for recommendations about books that are classics, have challenging language or other characteristics that made them great for the brain but that are short. By that I mean 250 pages or less.
I really want a romance or fantasy or really any kind of book that just destroyed you. Ripped out your heart feeling.
I don’t mean like Lego games where you can change the character to the bad guy. I mean a game where you are the antagonist?
I played a way out a few months ago and it got me thinking if there are any games that you are the big bad final boss?
Tbh I am not having a great time and Ik this sounds cringe, i wanna feel something, i have somewhat lost interest in games unless the game is relatable. So are there any depressing, relatable to a man game that you have played ??
My gf wants to get better at videogames to play with me. She gets very easily stressed by basically anything that is loud, moves quickly, or requires multiple inputs at once or quick reactions. So far she played through Gris, my suggestion. She got a bit stressed in a few parts and got quickly frustrated whenever she got stuck on some puzzle, and I had to give her suggestions for her to not give up.
What do you recommend her to play? Alone or with me works.
Also any tips for solving the getting easily scared/stressed problem?
Edit: Forgot to mention but we are playing on PC and can do co-op games on separate computers.
By this I mean like, what are the games that you truly truly have fun playing? Games that when you stop playing, they leave you feeling better than before
I’m asking this because, I kinda want something new and interesting and fun to play, recently I’ve been playing simulator games like truck, train simulator etc.
And to be honest, it’s just getting boring now, like very very boring, that’s why I want something new and interesting to spend my time on instead, every time I play these simulator games I constantly ask myself if I’m doing the best thing with my time?, and then when I get off the game I end up feeling like all my time was wasted and in a worse mood than I was before playing the game.
Can anyone suggest any games?
It can really be anything that isn’t souls games, 2d platformer, horror games
Thanks :)
Edit: I forgot to mention that I’ve already played games like rdr2, GTA 5 etc.
I am currently trying to find a new game to play and wanted to know if there were any games you were hesitant to play at first but then when you did, you were really glad.
I recently played Shadows of Doubt where you have the ability to break in to every single apartment in multiple buildings where you can loot then and look for evidence. I’m looking for other games with this level of detail and it doesn’t have to be a detective game. Any genre would be fine
