When I use the Action Button, it opens a menu with four shortcuts that I use frequently, allowing me to perform actions based on whatever I’m doing on my iPhone. Here’s how I’ve made it super practical: From right to left:
Anti-paywall shortcut. It grabs the URL from whatever is on the screen (the browser) and opens the same page using 12ft.io. This way, I can bypass paywalls without typing anything or even leaving the browser-just by pressing the Action Button. I use this often when reading news from sites I’m not subscribed to.
Google lens. Takes a screenshot and runs Google Lens on it, letting me access many of Google’s Al features on an Apple device. Then deletes the screenshot.
Snapdrop. Just opens snapdrop.net, which I use to send files or text between my computer and iPhone. It saves me from having to manually open the browser each time.
Summarize. It’s the one i use the least. Right now, it’s a shortcut that summarizes whatever is …

I recently discovered why I was spending so much time on my phone—it turns out I was getting lost in endless browsing on Safari/Google. To combat this, I found the perfect solution that helped me reduce my screen time from 3.5 hours a day to just 1.5 hours.
I set up an automation that triggers a specific action whenever I open Safari (this can be customized for any app you’re addicted to).
Now, whenever I open Safari, my phone automatically returns to the home screen and locks itself, requiring me to enter my passcode to continue using it. If I genuinely need to use Safari, I temporarily disable the shortcut, and once I’m done, I reactivate it. This method has significantly helped me stay focused and reduce unnecessary …
Hey everyone!
I just completely rewrote this Shortcut over the weekend to be a single Shortcut.
If you select any of the following the menu will fail. This is because of the way the Filter List
action is providing the data. I can’t figure out a way to prevent this, but I’m still working on it.
This is also due to the Filter List
action including things it shouldn’t.
For example - Damage Health
will also show ingredients with the …
(Note: I couldn’t figure out how to export a shortcut file for an automation, so I just included screenshots.)
I’ve been getting 3+ spam texts per day from different numbers for a political party with which I have no affiliation. I’ve tried replying “stop”. I’ve tried marking as spam. I’ve tried responding with vehement (and sometimes profane) insistence they stop texting me.
The messages haven’t stopped.
So I figured I’d see if money would do a bit more talking. We’ll see if they drop off!
Mine would be Gimlet’s “Mystery Show” by Starlee Kine. Such a perfect first season to never get a second.
I listen to about 10 hours of podcasts a day, 4 days a week. I need some new stuff to sink my teeth into. I have extremely eclectic taste. Tell me your all time favorite podcast and why its your favorite. Feel free to list a second, if you like.
I love love love a good scam podcast and the latest season of Pretend is delivering it in real time. I can’t even with this woman. If you’re new to Pretend check out the Stalker season too, that one was a wild ride. It’s getting harder and harder to find them so if you have any recs for more obscure, harder to find scam podcasts send them my way.
The host from NADDPOD feel like lifetime friends to me.
Which podcast do you have relationship with the host to the point that you forget you don’t actually know them??
Lindsey Graham, u/airshipfm, and his Wondery colleagues bring me a lot of happiness with their American Scandal and American History Tellers podcasts:
He has a lovely voice.
All episodes are very well produced. I know exactly the structure, the three act arc, each episode will present. This format lends itself well to both savoring an individual new episode and binging old seasons.
I love the little theme song of American Scandal: dah-dah, dah dah dah!
I thought it was corny at first, but I really can imagine myself as (a) a structural engineer in Boston in 1912 who is concerned about a molasses storage tank and (2) a lawyer for a southern church in the 80s trying to defend Jim Bakker. Maybe I am a doctor in 1793, even just for 22 minutes, with a bunch of patients dying from yellow fever. Lindsay Graham does a fine job to paint those pictures so vividly.
After the unfortunate end of Reply All, I’ve found myself struggling to replace the unique charm of the “Yes, Yes, No” segment. Other parts of the show have decent substitutes, but the topical nature of “Yes, Yes, No” makes it hard to just go back and listen to old episodes. It feels like something is missing from the current podcast landscape.
The stuff I’ve tried: Decoder Ring, Endless Thread (the Reddit podcast), Underunderstood, and Search Engine.
They haven’t quite hit the mark. Has anyone else found anything similar that captures the spirit of “Yes, Yes, No”? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Bonus points for political and history, but I like pretty much anything nonfiction.
The title. I started this genre some weeks ago with Agatha Christie and absolutely loving the journey so far. I also like the genre a lot. So, I wanted to explore other authors and perspectives from the same genre. Can be her contemporaries or recent works. Just want to binge read and have a blast!
Love unpredictable twists(only if they are plausible) or simply twists that leave your jaw open after reading them. Also love characterization and suspence.
What are your suggestions ?
Was there a book that made you laugh out loud? Made you chortle? I want to know! I feel like many suggestions here (while great suggestions!) tend to lean more into the serious nature, and I’m wanting to have a fun time reading something new. Children’s books aside, but any other genre is welcomed!
My book club is doing a special meeting where everyone re-reads a book they loved from their pre-teen or teenage years. Everyone will read a different book and then talk about their own books at the meeting.
What book(s) would you choose for this prompt?
Hello guys! I love dark books, can be because of the theme or the atmosphere. I’m actually looking for more dark books to read but I just don’t know where to search it. Any suggestions?
Like the title, a book you absolutely loved, but stop when asked for book recommendations thinking “oh I don’t know about that!”.
I have two currently:
These are the two I can think of that I loved, and challenged me, but if friends asked I’d never say.
I’m looking for a game with breathtaking, beautiful and gorgeous sound tracks. Possibly a fighting game but I’m open to anything. I’m playing Dying Light 2 right now, beautiful game with soundtracks coming out of nowhere to just blast your ears and give you even more focus when doing parkour and everything. The type of beautiful I mean is like Sins of the Father from MGSV.
The only Games I know that have Throwing Knives as a Mechanic are the Metro Series and Cyberpunk. I really love Throwing Knives and want more of that.
Edit: Y’all stop suggesting Dishonored please I have like 100 Hours spread on all 3 Games they do not have Throwing Knives.
I recently played the wolfenstein games and mafia 3 and it felt great killing nazis and shit any other recommendations?
Is there any game where you can just simply turn your brain off, and have a blast, or put a youtube video on in the background etc
something to just grind and have fun really
can really be anything, action, etc.
i dont like souls games, horror games and 2d platformer games
basically, a game that i can always rely on, the type of game where when i ask myself “what should i play?” i will play that game
thanks
I played a lot of games where you have to singlehandedly take down enemy camps and fortresses but you’re still just seen as a normal person or a slightly competent person, they don’t acknowledge the fact that you performed such an insane feat, how you are basically a one man army. They aren’t even suspicious how someone like you came about and solved all their problems.
Ghost of Tsushima had this. The people were scared and asking how he did that, what is he, and you become known as the ghost due to your abilities.
