Hooray for a shortcuts shoutout during the iPhone event.
Clearly lots of people are running shortcuts from their action buttons!!
Hi there,
I am currently using an iPhone 14 Pro and have no plans to update it anytime soon. I am exploring alternatives to Apple Intelligence and looking for third-party apps or shortcuts that can replicate some of its functionalities. Do you have any suggestions or links to achieve this without upgrading to a new phone?
Thanks!
It’s always random and inconsistent. I would love for them to always be long so I don’t have to scroll. Is there a way to control this and does anyone know what causes this?
Hello everyone,
I’m sharing with you my final version of iOS version check, a shortcut that allows you to be notified of the latest version of iOS before Apple does!
https://routinehub.co/shortcut/17110/
I’ve found a Regex (regular expression) that should never announce either an old version of iOS as a new version or a current version but with a different version number!
As a reminder, the best thing to do is to create an automation that runs this shortcut every day, personally this shortcut runs every day at 9:00 and 18:00.

Connect Toggler allows you to fully turn off or activate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, toggle VPN, and set AirDrop to be discoverable to everyone for 10 minutes, all from a pretty vCard menu that aligns with the iOS style. This shortcut provides quick access to essential connection settings and can be launched from the home screen or invoked using the Action Button or the Back Tap feature.
Toggle Wi-Fi: This option lets you turn Wi-Fi on or completely off. It does more than the Control Center, which only disconnects from nearby Wi-Fi networks for a day.
Toggle Bluetooth: Just like with Wi-Fi, you can turn Bluetooth on or fully off. This goes beyond the Control Center’s feature that only disconnects from nearby Bluetooth devices temporarily.
Toggle VPN: Rapidly enable or disable your VPN connection, a functionality not readily available in the Control Center. By default, …
That podcast you would die on the hill for. It’s the greatest thing ever and everyone should experience it.
Mine would be Criminal. Perfect narration. Relatable stories and characters. Subject matter can be dark, but it is handled perfectly.
From Alex’s Substack and announcement post:
“It’s called Hyperfixed and the trailer is out now.
If you ever listened to *Reply All* and heard me solving Super Tech Supports and thought, “Yeah, but what if this wasn’t just about tech and internet mysteries?” — then this one’s for you.
Hyperfixed is me tackling all kinds of dilemmas. Personal problems, tiny annoyances, big existential questions. The twist? These issues often have hidden, complex systems behind them, and we’re going to dig deep to uncover those. It’s part investigation, part obsession, part me going, “Wait, why is this even a thing?!” I’m working with a small but incredible team, with producers Emma Courtland and Amor Yates onboard, and we’re ready to get into it.”
If you could only pick three to listen to forevermore, what would you pick?
Mine would be:
I’m looking for a new series to give me those juicy WTAF moments - examples of shows I’ve enjoyed that do this successfully:
I’m not really into true crime (if it’s murder), or anything conversational, but I love investigative journalism, history and bizarre true stories*.
(*not This American Life though!)
thank you in advance for any suggestions 💫
I think I’ve probably listened to them all but just in case there’s some I’ve missed I’d love your recommendations.
Either series or episodes about people who have fictitious disorder/Munchausens or malingering. Also any series like Hysterical where they’re not faking but something strange is up.
I’ve listened to: Scamanda, Believe in Magic, No One Should Believe me, Carrie Jade Does Not Exist, Something Was Wrong, The Real Carrie Jade, Hysterical, Sympathy Pains, Believable, The Doulas and probably more I’ve forgotten.
Thanks!
Edited to add some I’d forgotten
I really like a lot of the BBC podcasts like Evil Genius, In Our Lifetime and You’re Dead to Me.
But I’ve pretty much listened to all the episodes now.
I’m looking for educational podcasts but also with a bit of humor.
Subjects can be anything but I enjoy History, Psychology, Sociology, Philosphy, Nature etc.
Thank you!
I love to read things over 75 years old because I’ve come to love the style of writing from days of yore, as well as the descriptions, word choice, sentence structure, typeface, paper quality, smell, the thought of ‘if walls (book) could talk’, all of these factors. Story is important too obviously, so hit me with the oldy-but-goody works you know!
Just like the title says: almost everything was Disney/Marvel branded, etc. Or Minecraft, Disney princesses etc. It was almost all Just corporate crap with no quality prose or narrative to be found. (It’s shocking we accept this or the fact that not a single book of fun poems or classic kids literature was on offer for children.)
So help me out: I have two boys ages six and eight.
And oh: These are things for me to read to them right now as my older one has reading challenges, and my younger one is just started.
I have “where the sidewalk ends” by Shel Silverstein and they absolutely love it when I read them poems from that. I don’t need recommendations that are necessarily “classics”, but just something with some meat in it. I just can’t believe how bland the stories are that are at these book fairs.
I’m looking for Some thing that has more brains and narrative and vocab and prose than another Disney-avengers-nothing-at-all Happens “book” for boys and “ Disney descendants” …
I can feel myself going into a reading slump soon! Each of the past 10 or so books I’ve read have not been any higher than 3 stars for me. I’m looking for a book that’s going to be an automatic 5 star read. I read just about any genre but my favorites are literary fiction, horror, thriller.
Update: wow, I can’t keep up with replying to all your comments but I am reading them all. Thank you all so much for all your suggestions, reassurance and kind words <3
(Note: Please not “The House in the Cerulean Sea”)
As the title said, looking for books to read while going through basically a mental health crisis. My nervous system has gone haywire and I’m anxious 24⁄7. All the books I’ve tried either I can’t concentrate on them or they give me anxiety. Thanks in advance!
I don’t know how exactly to put it but I’m looking for books with unique plots, ones that don’t follow typical storylines you often find. Books that just stand out due to their characters and unique storylines and settings. Of the books I have read for example, I found Piranesi really gripping. It had a distinctive artistic setting and an attention grabbing storyline one could not just simply come up with. I really loved the narration style as well. So maybe books with a similar sense of uniqueness I guess. Can be any genre.
After my mom cancer’s diagnosis I’m finding really hard to enjoy life. I struggled from depression in the past and I’m feeling that I’m going on that path again. It started the same way, nothing in my life would bring me joy, even the things I like. So maybe a book that can bring me a positive introspection, but not midnight library, I didn’t liked that book. Thank you!
I have a huge game library and once in a while i find a gem of a game i really enjoy, are there any other games not a lot of people know about but think everyone should play?
I call this the “depression phase of the day”, I grieve/want some things I’m interested in a lot, but don’t have enough money/local places that sell them (currently Lego), or sometimes I just don’t feel like anything and just want time to pass by.
So I want something to just put on some music, and play the game, without having to worry about what I took in the beginning of match, or what I should take for future, etc…
I just want to have fun, sometimes I play league of legends arena, but I’m getting bored of it too…
Recently I finished Spiderman remastered, I played it for about 5 days, I really liked the gameplay, combat etc.
I’m looking for the next game that I’ll play for days upon days
My preferred genres are: open world, FPS, third person, action, RPG etc.
I’ve already played popular titles such as rdr2 and GTA 5
Any games you recommend? (PC)
edit: forgot to mention that i dont like souls games, horror games and 2d platformer games
thanks
edit 2: i dont like playing multiplayer games anymore, singleplayer games are just better anyways
please stop saying carrion and actually read the post
i love games where you play as a monster or animal, any suggestions?
games ive played like this include maneater, carrion (meh artstyle though), left 4 dead
for just animals, ive played ark, away, beasts of bermuda, century, day of dragons, draconia, the isle, primal carnage, spore.
if you have any suggestions lmk. i havent bought a new game in a while and i feel like i want something new. preferably not humanoid monsters but id take what i can get so if its like vampires or something id go for that too. no dead by daylight.
Wondering if anyone knew some fun computer games that you can sink tons of hours in, very replayable (doesn’t have to end), and it becomes satisfying when you are rich in game currency, or overpowered so it makes u wanna grind more. U do grinding to become pro/strong and have good items/lots of in game currency and when u do that ur satisfied that u wanna be grinding even more and it’s addicting. The Skill in game is obtained thru grind.
Like u do something to grind like where monsters/enemies are out to get you and u kill them And u can grind for weapons/OP gear to kill people in 100000 unique ways and kill the enemies in unique ways and the progress is satisfying when overpowered (doesn’t have to be that way of grinding just an example)
Hey, I’ve been looking for more games like these for some time. Both XCOM and Darkest Dungeon share this theme of developing and getting attached to characters in your team, making them more powerful over time, and risking losing them permanently.
I would really love any games that also have a psychological aspect. Darkest Dungeon’s stress and quirk system is amazing and a game with this on top of what I already mentioned would be perfect (I’ve played DD to death at this point, just want something more).
I also enjoy games like Kenshi that are unforgiving, where you need to keep your characters alive and develop them to survive.
Setting and difficulty don’t matter to me compared to these traits (though the harder it is, the better).
