yoyorecreation 5ive is the perfect responsive pocket yoyo for any occasion.
Stopped by on our way to Oregon. What a fun place. The guy who runs it is very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely worth a quick visit. I also picked up a new model to try and keep up with the new generation. Guessing my No Jive is a bit outdated…
Just some fun at work! Which do you guys like better?
I’ve been realizing lately a lot of the podcasts I enjoyed once have gotten lazy and the content is not great anymore. I am finding that the more famous they get, especially ones that start from nothing, have a shelf life in a big way. This doesn’t apply to news type shows or true crime, but mostly comedy podcasts or pop culture. It’s a very interesting arc to watch. What are your thoughts?
I figured I’d use my obsessive listening for good ❤️
The Turning (especially seasons 1 and 3): overall theme is escaping from cults. Season 1 is about Mother Theresa’s order and the stories of some nuns who left, season 3 is about several young women who grew up in a religious sex cult.
The Lab Detective: Initially about the story of one mother falsely convicted of murdering her 4 infants across several years. Dives into junk science and real science vs the legal system as well as misogynistic themes that can lead to these wrongful convictions.
Liberty Lost: about the continued prevelance of homes for unwed mothers (especially teenagers). Tells the stories of several young women and exposes one specific home for their treatment of the girls and women and their shady adoption agency practices.
Arachnid: about the stories of child sexual abuse/child porn survivors and their fight to remove the images of them from the internet as well as the organization behind a crawler designed to …
Who are everybody’s favorite female podcasters and/or podcasts by and about women? The topics could be anything, I’m just interested in exploring more podcasts by women.
Edit: Wow! Thanks so much for all the great recommendations! I’m excited to get listening.
Hey everyone!! I’m looking for podcasts made specifically with audio listeners in mind. I’m not sure what shifted, but it seems most podcasts nowadays have video. This makes me not want to watch them as I’m worried about missing visual cues or bits done with video watchers in mind. Such a non-issue, I know, but it seems to really affect my listening experience. 😭 To me, podcasts are supposed to be a mostly audio format that you can just pop on while doing other things. I’d prefer if suggestions had a wide range of themes such as comedy, educational, tabletop games, true crime, etc. Thanks in advance!
There is a sea of podcasts now and I kinda am jealous of how my parents could look at my clothes, music, or books to see what I was getting into. Now online influences could be pouring poison into his ear.
……yes I talk to my son. He’s not into podcasts yet. Just want to get ahead of the game a bit if I can. Thanks!
I had like a year’s worth of Throughline episodes to catch up on and decided to listen while working this week.
There’s something about the background music + production + the host’s calming voices + interesting subjects that create the perfect listening experience while working. You don’t need to cling onto every word and if you zone out for 15 seconds you don’t feel lost or confused about what is happening.
I don’t often listen to podcasts while working because I prefer to save them for when I can focus on them 100%. But sometimes I am just in the mood for something other than music when working.
Any other podcasts work like this for you?
Be honest! We’ve all finished a “must read masterpiece” and thought…. “THAT’S IT!?” I want to know the books that everyone hypes but secretly felt hollow, boring, or try hard to you.
For me, it was “The Great Gatsby.” I get the symbolism and beautifully written, but honestly, to me it just felt like rich people being miserable for 200 pages. What about you guys?
And if you’ve got an underrated book that deserves the hype instead, even better, please lemme know. Would love some recs.
As the title says! I want to start reading books that will enhance my brain and knowledge. I started reading ‘Capital in the Twenty-First Century’ by Thomas Piketty, a (as i understand) classic, and want to read more of these kind of books. I don’t want self-help or anything as I am not really interested by them (tried books like Atomic Habits but didn’t really find them interesting), just some factual and interesting read on any subject.
I’m trilingual so I can read in English, French or Spanish, so it doesn’t HAVE to be in english (I even prefer french if possible).
Also, I don’t want any heavily biased book, so I would like to stay “far” of politics, unless it’s about political history that can be fact checked and aren’t full of opinions and clear bias. Suggest away!!
Edit: Ok I think i’ve got myself an intellectual conundrum lol, i do want subjective and opinion based books, forget the last paragraph! …
I don’t just mean sad books, but the ones that truly broke you, stories that left you raw, maybe even in tears, but still unforgettable. The kind of book that hurts to read, yet you’d still put in someone else’s hands because of how powerful or beautiful it is.
Sometimes those stories aren’t comforting at all, but they stay with us precisely because of how much they cut. So… which book shattered you, but left you grateful you read it?
I’m trying to expand my reading list and want to discover some truly remarkable non-fiction. Not looking for self-help books or motivational guides—I’m interested in books that taught you something profound, changed the way you think, or just blew your mind with ideas, history, science, or philosophy.
What’s the best non-fiction book you’ve ever read that isn’t self-help, and why did it leave such an impression on you?
I’m always getting amazing suggestions here, so going in the opposite direction I want to read a bad book that I can complain what a waste of time was it… or maybe find something amazing! “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” thank you!
I’m looking for a book where the narrator becomes aware that they are in a book, and they’re aware that if the reader keeps reading, than something bad is going to happen.
For example, Fictorum is the ultimate WMD mage simulator, although the rest of the gameplay is passable.
Dark Messiah had a corny story and reeks of cut corners, but the physics combat is fire.
Genesis Alpha One has a unique ship building and planning system that lies in a pretty flawed game with a boring gameplay loop.
I’d like a game like that. Where you feel and watch your self grow in skill and strength( in game) and getting satisfying returns for playing by growing stronger. P.S I’m on playstation 4
I really like rpgs but any time of game is fine.
I’ve looked at a lot of “chill game” threads and a lot seem to be simulating chores or a second job, like I tried Dredge and only got about 10 hours in before it started feeling like work, then I tried Subnautica and I can appreciate the game design but it’s definitely not what I’m looking for, I don’t find it chill at all because there’s this ever growing list of tasks to do, I hope that makes sense. Stardew Valley is another one that is always recommended but it sounds like the exact type of work simulator I’m talking about (please don’t think I’m talking sh*t on these games, just not for me).
I’ll go first. Two Worlds. That franchise, without a doubt in my mind, could have been something really great.
I like farming gear, get better stats etc etc… but if it comes to a point where I need to do a “proper” build to go to endgame content… it loses the fun.
It there such a game? Preferably somewhat relevant? No need to be maistream but… not decades old either.
Edit: Included “Image Playground”
Keep forgetting to add more info.
Basically this is using an API, every question and tool is specifically using ChatGPT. For the “Genmoji” it’s using Gemini.
Everything has been replaced with API alternatives, so if you don’t have ChatGPT installed on your device, that’s fine. “Visual Intelligence” is both on device based and API based (depending on which option you select)
Originally they were shortcuts for the app. But I found it so annoying that the app had to be open, so I just replaced everything to utilize the APIs.
The only app you’ll need is Imgur. As I got lazy on trying to use the API for that to upload images (specifically for Visual Intelligence) and instead resorts to uploading the image while the app is installed.
This’ll be sent here soon!
I’ve included a lot (and I mean a lot, like an overwhelming amount) of comments to help everyone understand how the shortcut functions.
Also I’m running out of ideas, what’d you like to see in …
Hello everyone, a few weeks ago I posted in here about Shortcuty. In case you don’t know, Shortcuty is a native iOS app that combines a shortcut action app with a hub where you can share your own shortcuts and discover ones created by other people.
If you joined the Shortcuty TestFlight from the old post, you’ll need to use this new TestFlight link provided to continue receiving app updates.
⸻
Update Checking
Shortcuty originally had a native action for adding update checking to your shortcuts. We’ve now extended this to a public HTTP API, so you can do the same thing using the “Get Contents of URL” action. This means the Shortcuty app is no longer required to check for updates.
In the app, every shortcut you’ve submitted now has a Download Links button. Tapping it brings up a menu with the URL endpoints you need for update checking.
⸻
Cloud Variables
We also added Cloud Variables, which let you store configuration data for your shortcuts in the cloud and fetch it with “Get …
Im kinda new to shortcuts and didn’t think it would be this hard to make a math game.

Dead simple markdown to pdf export.
Recently I’ve been using LLMs a lot and sometimes I have to share certain markdown tables or other LLM markdown output directly as a pdf. My old workflow was copying this, pasting to a website and downloading the generated pdf, then sharing it.
Tinkered around during my flight and created this simple converter with some css magic to make it look better than the default pdf from rich text.

Well I’ll go first, I was making a shortcut a couple of minutes ago, and AI assistant, it asks for input and based on input it there’s like 8 if statements to decide if you want to send a message, call, add a reminder, event and more or if none of those apply it starts a conversation with the AI, all nice and fine, I was testing the message part when out of the blue I sent a message to literally every contact in my contacts list asking if they’re hungry, cuz I was trying to use the shortcut to ask my wife if she’s hungry 😂😂😂 lucky me I’ve got “only” 120 something contacts, still bad though I wouldn’t recommend 😂 even stranger is it’s 5 in the morning here and there’s surprisingly a lot of people awake :)
Be careful there guys, you never know when you call your ex or start a conversation with that sibling you never talk with 😂😂
