Better believe that Regen felt as good as it looked 💅🏾
Got a little fish eye lense. Thought I’d give it a quick whirl with my C3 Stellar IX.
My hands are currently bleeding from both sides. My White Sochi string is 5 days old and has dark and blood marks. Yippee
I work by myself so podcasts are kind of like my coworkers. I always dread the holidays because I know all of them take the week off.
Tomorrow is wash day, and I’m downloading podcasts to listen to. I just realized that most of the ones I follow are hosted by men, and I’m trying to shift to something different fun, engaging, and hosted by women.
I think the only female i follow is Stephanie Soo, and I’ve listened to everything she’s released. I’m looking for other female podcasters with a similar vibe or do Ted talks like Vanessa van edward Edward’s .I don’t want podcasts that revolve around men or relationships, mirror affirmations, “enter your feminine era,” or that kind of content.
Any recommendations?
Guilty pleasure podcast
I listen to NPR sometimes and a few others, but I’m curious if there’s a podcast whose actual goal is to be like a modern version of reading the morning paper.
Hello all, I am an obsessive podcast listener but I recently lost my Dad and need something with very minimal sadness and death. I’ve run through a lot of the options in my favorite style and need a distracting binge. I strongly prefer a focus on 1 story or topic per episode. 2-3 consistent funny hosts who are friends is a must. Love nature, science, animals, cults, & at least a little skeptical takes on supernatural things.
These are a few of my favorite shows:
Tooth and Claw, Cult Podcast, Oh No Ross & Carrie, Sawbones, Just the Zoo of Us (plenty light I’ve just heard it all), National Parks After Dark, Stuff you Should Know, Lets Get Haunted
Any shows you like that are in this style but even more light-hearted?
Edit: Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions! I really appreciate it, and the kind words.
Looking for some listens during the Xmas lull, can you tell me from your favorite podcasts, has their been an episode that is elevated above the others or just stands out as an exceptional piece.
My example would be the Regular Features podcast 468: the 2021 kebab awards special.
A normally chaotic podcast goes fully off the rails when two of them manage to blag their way into a kebab award ceremony and progressively get drunker and bolder as the recording goes on.
It requires no context and is just a stand out piece of absolute comedy chaos I can recommend to anyone.
Do you have any suggestions that fit this idea?
Just finished Gone Girl and while I absolutely loved it, the plot twist was spoiled for me when I watched the movie years ago 😂 So I’m looking for suggestions on books with a “holy shit” plot twist that I can’t see coming.
I started reading again a couple of years ago. I’m 37 now, and I was a voracious reader as a child. I went about 15 years without reading a single book. Currently, I mostly read thrillers or horror, but lately I’ve been wanting to immerse myself in a book series. I want to follow the lives and stories of the characters across several books. It can be a series of any genre; I just want to have a LOT to read and want to read book after book in the series.
i really want to get into reading more but most books are just too boring imo. i really like anything really dark/disturbing/psychological/fcked up. since i dont read that much thicker books are a bit intimidating for me but if its worth it you are welcome to recommend anything. also please let me know why i should read it since my “want to read” list is already so long and i struggle a lot with making decisions
thanks:)
I tried to kill myself 2 days ago, and stopped in the middle of the attempt after deciding against it. I’m fine, only took half the pills I intended so just ended up a bit dopey for a day and I’m not suicidal at all now.
I am at a point where I’m kind of lost in life. I’m just graduating uni. I hoped to work in the social sector, and found a job there fairly quickly, only to quit it almost immidieatly to take care of a sick family member, who within weeks had to be transferred to more intensive care and no longer needs me, so I pretty much gave up that job for nothing. I’m living in country that’s becoming less democratic by the day and commits terrible actions against its neighbours (and I’ve been fighting against it). I don’t see a future living here, but also realize immigrating is very hard. I’m lonely and have lost many friendships lately, and due to my own personality, find it hard making new friends, but I’m working on …
Favorite flow state reads
Now that it is the new year, what have you picked for your first read to kick start you?
basically the title. i’m so burnt out from saving the world or being the legendary hero who has to stop an apocalypse. actual life is stressful enough, i don’t need the fate of the universe on my shoulders at 9 PM.
i want something where i’m just a regular person with a job in a cool world. like being a mechanic on a space station, a shopkeeper in a fantasy town, or a cargo pilot.
but please, no obvious stuff like stardew or euro truck simulator. i’m looking for those weird, underrated hidden gems that a few people know about. those games where the dev clearly had a very specific “vibe” in mind.
what’s that one blue collar game you found in the depths of steam that actually made you feel like you were just living a life in that world?
Starsector and Vintage Story are the two that come to mind. What else is out there?
I’m not talking post-apocalyptic or games with only the prologue being the day of the apocalypse. I want it to be a process that starts with a normal world becoming more and more fucked till the end of the game. Genre doesn’t matter, it’s the bleakness and chaos. Nuclear settings preferred. You’ll know what I mean if anybody’s watched the movie threads (1984)
I feel like I’m getting old but I find myself gravitating towards games that reward learning all the mechanics and tactics over fast-paced reflex based games. To give an idea of what I am looking for:
Knowledge based: Path of Exile, Chess (lol)
Reflex based: FPS shooters, 2D platformers
Edit: Thank you all for the great suggestions. I can’t reply to everyone but I read all your suggestions and I plan to play most of them if I haven’t already :)
I don’t want games with a “hunt this guy” minigame or side quest, I want games where I’m straight up going after targets. Preferably medieval fantasy type of thing instead of Hitman or Assassin’s Creed (Fuck AS)
A few games I already am aware of but don’t want: RDR1/2, GTA, Star Wars Bounty Hunter, Dishonored, Skyrim. Technically I could actually get Skyrim it’s just the annoying modding part that sucks, and yes you need mods because bounty hunting barely comes up in Skyrim and when it does it is barebones.
I have exactly 18.40 in steam funds to spend on a game.
Just a little background before i start listing my preferences, i enjoy reading books(fiction/non fiction psychological) and playing video games. I mostly play games that are subtle in meaning - that questions your belief and make lasting impression. There are some popular titles i have played (like Soma, Rdr2, Outer wilds, TW3). But i want some suggestion on lesser known titles which caught you by surprise and sometimes you ponder about it to this day. I would be very happy to try them! Thanks.
Edit: Wow i didnt expect such great recommendations. I thought this post will be for me only but now i think it will be helpful for anyone who wants to try something new and thoughtful. You all guys have a great taste in gaming.
Shortcut: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/3e2caeca65634afdae16082631dcdf2c
Things to do: Create a folder in Files app named “Wallpaper” and save your Home Screen Wallpaper image inside it. My wallpaper image is named “W.PNG”. Don’t forget to choose the wallpaper you currently use, it says “Wallpaper 1” because I am currently using that wallpaper. Also my wallpaper image is already a blurred image, keep blur effect off in final step to see the text, if blur effect is on text will not be seen.
Automation: I have set automation to run this shortcut everyday at 6am and 8pm, its the time when I check weather. Choose your own automation and custom triggers. Keep “notify when run” off. Also, set automation to “run immediately “.
Choose your home location where it says New York.
Hey folks 👋
Looking to discover some useful Apple Shortcuts that you use on a daily basis.
They can be: - Custom-made or downloaded - Simple or complex - From any category (productivity, automation, media, utilities, etc.)
If you share one, a quick line on what it does and why you use it would be great. Links welcome but not required.
Always fun seeing how others use Shortcuts — thanks! 🙌
Pretty easy with a list and a random choice.
Since iOS 26 released, there is a new icon for the shortcuts app. Now, should the mods change this subreddit’s icon as well?
One thing that always frustrated me with HomeKit + Shortcuts was how *static* everything felt.
Most HomeKit-related actions in Shortcuts:
Before getting into Shortcuts, the original problem I wanted to solve was search.
On Apple platforms, system search (Spotlight / Search) is the fastest way to access anything — yet HomeKit devices don’t really exist there. So I built HomeSpot, an app that makes HomeKit devices searchable across macOS, iOS, and iPadOS.
This means:
Once that foundation existed, I turned to dynamic access to HomeKit data because Shortcuts is very limited in this area.
