Yoyo as a subconscious and improvisation tool.
After being cooped up for a couple days, I decided to venture out into the 17 degree weather lol cold for a native Tennessean. This is all just poorly executed yuuki concepts, but my hands were very cold. Enjoy!
He has platformed so many people who have spread misinformation and violent, racist rhetoric. He himself has said very hateful, racist, maga shilling things. Let’s boycott him
I need something good to motivate me on my run!
Solved case only please I can’t take the wondering 😂
This was an amazing podcast and I’ve listened to quite a few. I loved the pace, nothing seemed dragged out. There were surprises (yes actually more than one) along the way and I also was obsessed with the music the bumper music. It was gorgeous and that’s like not usually something I nerd out about. It’s definitely in my top 10.
Have loved podcasts since Serial times, probably 12, maybe 15 years. Having a documentary in my ears whilst doing tasks changed my life before I was ADHD diagnosed. I would tune in to podcasts weekly, was actually excited for the next episode.
I really feel the video aspect of podcasts has changed the landscape and kind of ruined the vibes.
As an embarassing example, ine of my first pods was Armchair Expert. For the first few yesrs I loved the long format interviews. But they started videoinng for YouTube and its changed the bibes i cant listen anymore. Am older now with more therapy, so find the hosts annoying anyway, and it is natural to get the ick. The youtube videos and the spotify default to video has ruined it for me.
Does anyone else feel this way? Like we had a really good run and now they all give the ick?
I love a podcast format of “seasons” if you will, where it’s 1-10 episodes covering one topic. Bear Brook in particular is true crime journalism, but I’m open to any topics. If you have any recommendations of story telling where multiple episodes uncover a whole story I would love to check them out! Thanks!
I hate 2026. Without a single exaggeration it is the worst year of my life.
I need positive events, stories and news please. Any podcasts that focus on these things with minimal stories related to children would appreciated please.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, grief podcasts for mothers/parents are also needed.
Thank you in advance.
Edited to add, the comedy flair is because I was hoping for happy/upbeat podcasts. Not because my post is comedic.
I JUST READ REBECCA, AND I’M UNWELL, WHEEPING, THROWING UP, HUNGRY, LUSTING FOR ANOTHER NOVEL JUST LIKE IT. PLZ I’M GRIEVING. I MAY NOT RECOVER. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BOOK-HANGOVER AGONY LIKE THIS. I VIOLENTLY REQUIRE ANOTHER WITH THE SAME GOTHIC-CHOKEHOLD.
Hi, all.
I really enjoy the concepts and style of Murakami’s works, but I just can’t stomach how gross his approach to women is.
Anyone have any recs?
Thank you :)
I’ve realised recently that my favourite type of book is those big sprawling rich ones focusing mainly on one character and the hugeness of the world and their history around them. One of my favourite books ever is Demon Copperhead and I just finished I Know This Much Is True and I need more like that.
The kind of long story you feel like you’re living in, almost forgetting the characters are fictional. The longer the better but it’s more the vibe I’m looking for, kind of a redemption/realisation type of thing, following one person through the wilderness of their life.
I don’t think I’m doing a very good job explaining this haha, but anything that springs to mind when you think of the two I’ve mentioned. (Also similar that I adored was The Goldfinch, and The Bee Sting, I also enjoyed We Were The Mulvaneys, anything kind of like that).
Thanks !
It’s my turn to suggest some novels for my book club, mostly middle-aged suburban woman. I used to be a professor and I think some of them worry I look down on them. (I don’t, they’re awesome!) I usually read 19th century novels and am not up to date on what’s recent. I’m in the book club partly because I want to be more up to date.
Last time it was my turn, they encouraged me to pick Jane Austen since I bring her up all the time, and they were not super into it. I want to do better!
Ideally the book would be recent (last five years or so) and have been on the buzzier, more popular side. Dark and depressing are fine, an exquisite literary construction from a recent Iowa grad maybe less so. Thanks!
“Survival is not enough” from Station Eleven; “So it goes” from Slaughterhouse-Five; “Stuff your eyes with Wonder”from Fahrenheit 451
Hi everyone! What are your favorite books that are about niche topics ? The goal is to find genuinely interesting books about seemingly mundane subjects like the construction of medieval castles or the history of cell therapy.
Edit: thank you everyone !! My TBR has been significantly increased
No limitations whatsoever of the type of game. I just wanna be able to cast cool ass spells like the damn wizard I am with a decent bit of variety of them.
What game makes you feel most like a wizard
As the title suggests, I’m looking for games with exceptionally good rain. Good audio is the most important to me, more than visuals or integration into gameplay. It’s been years but I remember Minecraft’s rain being extremely immersive even though it didn’t look realistic, MGS 2’s tanker chapter’s rain was very convincing too, but I’m drawing a blank on others. I guess RDR2 but I can’t remember it.
Bonus imaginary points for:
Now if you’ll excuse me …
I’m specifically looking for more games, RPGs or anything with a really interesting itemization and gear progression (with or without ability to break the system), where there’s some defining piece of loot that changes how you feel while playing almost completely.
Some examples from my own experience below to give you a sense of what I mean
Borderlands 2 - The Bee shield combined with the Conference Call shotgun back before they nerfed it. I remember melting raid bosses in seconds and feeling like I had somehow broken the game with the game letting me break it. It was gloriously OP
Diablo 2 - Finding my first Enigma runeword on my hammerdin (Jah+Ith+Ber, I still remember it). It turns what should be a slow methodical character into one could teleport around like a sorceress. It didn’t just make me stronger, it made the entire game feel different and that was already on the really deep end of the game.
Last Epoch - I like the fact that some items change your …
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for RPG or open-world games that are deeply immersive, similar to The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, or Red Dead Redemption 2.
What I really enjoy is:
Strong storytelling and memorable characters
A world that feels alive and believable
Freedom to explore at my own pace
Side quests that feel meaningful, not just filler
A serious, mature tone (not cartoonish or overly casual)
It doesn’t have to be strictly fantasy or sci-fi — I’m open to different settings as long as the immersion is strong.
I play on PC, and I’m fine with both first-person and third-person games.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
This is a silly idea of mine. All the time I see similar questions on this sub which is fine but sometimes I like to ask original ones and be even surprised how many games have random stuff in them.
I’m looking for games where you can stink, maybe even shower. Preferably if it’s a mechanic / useful.
For example : skin deep. If you traverse through the trash bin, your character will stink and has to clean otherwise enemies will smell you.
Mafia 2 : in one of the mission you have to travel through sewage and get sewage spilled on you, some characters comment on it and it’s a big joke
Metal gear solid 5. I think it’s a whole thing? I’m not fan of those games but I heard about it.
Kingdom come deliverance : Henry can smell “manly” which gives him some bonuses? It’s a perk but it kinda counts.
I’m interested in how many games have something like this, thanks in advance!
So I have a friend who wants to play some games with his friend who is a Jehova’s witness and has some strict rules for games set by his parents. There 13 and 12 and can’t play games with magic, violents, with the exception of ragdoll and Minecraft type strength violents. They play minecraft, Sim games like super mart Sim, geo dash, and some others and my friend wants a refresher from the same old games, we play on PC and nintendo alitle so I need some games that are not to experience and I get there parents onbord with hopefully with the ability to put patently restrictions in plays, please help!!!
I have one shortcut I made with a menu that allows me to run all the shortcuts I typically use daily.
There are so many shortcuts here I won’t be able to share them all but the concept remains, it’s very convenient to have it quickly when you press the action button!
I’ll highlight here what’s seen in the picture:
AI: Open another menu that asks if I want to lunch ChatGPT or Grok
Toggle Silent: toggles the sound on/off
Baby monitor: Open our baby monitor app
Add to shopping list: gives me a text prompt and then adds that to me and my wife’s joint shopping list
Log weight: asks for a number then logs that to weight to the apple health app
Remember this: good shortcut to save stuff you browse. Thanks to https://youtube.com/@beardfm
Save current location: will get your gps coordinates and save it to an apple note. Thanks to https://youtube.com/@beardfm
Just set up a “Visual Intelligence” shortcut on my Mac. I can now highlight any part of my screen and have ChatGPT explain it to me in under 3 seconds.
No files cluttering my desktop, no manual uploads. If you haven’t explored the “Use Model” action in the Shortcuts app yet, you’re missing out on the best part of the new Apple Intelligence updates.
Hey r/shortcuts,
huge thank you for all the upvotes, comments, and DMs on my last post. Seriously. The feedback was insanely helpful (and you all were way kinder than my Shortcut debugging deserved). I’m genuinely grateful you took the time to test, suggest improvements, and point out the rough edges.
Over the last few weeks I’ve been in a love/hate relationship with Shortcuts while updating weeklydots.com. I love that we can build dynamic wallpapers… but the dev experience is still a bit of a hacky maze 😅
Based on what you asked for, I’ve improved setup + added a few features:
I’m trying hard to keep it useful but minimalist. …
For the savvy Shortcut creators, what ways (tutorials, websites, videos, whatever) would help someone become a super user for Shortcuts?
I’ve been trying to create more complex shortcuts but really feel like I’m just fumbling around in the dark, getting stumped, and wasting time. 🫤😣
UPDATE: Thanks for all of the great tips!
There are a few different complicated shortcuts If like to make but the one I’m currently attempting is for the Journals app and I’ve not been able to find any existing shortcuts out there that even close to what I’ve envisioned. More and more it feels like a bunch of small shortcuts will be needed and then one big shortcut to run them all together.
I’m often too tired (or lazy) at night to take the the time to journal so I wanted something that would pop up in the morning and:
1) Ask me if I am ready to journal (allowing me to repeat snooze for an hour if I’m unable to do it at that moment)
2) Start an entry for yesterday, add various info (health, appts, etc) …
Hello there, everyone!
Charty 2.0 open TestFlight is coming as soon as next week!
First of all, I want to thank you for your interest in the app. The recent bug with 1.4.3 made me notice how many of you still rely on Charty for your data visualizations, and that has filled my heart with joy 🥹
Charty 2.0 is an entire rewrite of the app using SwiftUI, SwiftCharts and AppIntents. This was a huge undertaking and took a lot longer than I initially expected.
The new app is more beautiful, the charts are more powerful and lifelong bugs have finally been squashed. Oh, also widgets now update with every action? Finally!
I’m very happy with how this version turned out, and can’t wait to share it with all of you.
One last important thing: Charty will become subscription based starting with 2.0. For all of you who’ve purchased the Premium package, you’ll keep all the current features and what’s being added in 2.0. And you’ll keep that for all your life.
But, starting on 2.1, new features …

I’ve set it up as part of bigger clipboard dependent shortcut, I activate it with 3 taps on the back on the device.
