came up with this bind. thought it was neat.
Catching it is the hardest part.
Tech is impossible on this yoyo lol
As always! Leave some tutorial requests below!
Yoyo used is First Base
I listen to a lot of podcasts. My biggest regulars are TrueAnon, If Books Could Kill, Behind the Bastards, and similar lefty political stuff. But I’ve been into podcasts for a while and have listened to everything from History of Rome to My Dad Wrote a Porno.
I’m looking for new podcast obsessions about relatively niche topics. For example even though I’m not big into fashion, I love Articles of Interest for the well researched history and high production value.
What are your favorite niche obsessions? Honestly as long as it’s entertaining the more obscure the better!
ReplyAll really informed me about the pizzagate/qanon conspiracy and i found it so entertaining when Alex and PJ really deep dove into the origins.
With all the epstein file releases it’s just sad ill never get a follow up/update or even a yesyesno segement about a current meme
I always see people get downvoted when they say they use Spotify for podcasts. Is there something I should know about Spotify? Spotify is how i got into the world of podcasts. I am on a duo plan so the only ads i get are from the creators. The only two podcasts i subscribe to is Swindled and Wondery. I like that i am able to link those subscriptions to Spotify and i am able to access bonus episodes and no ads. I tried pocket cast and it looks like i am not able to link those subscriptions on there unfortunately. I would have to listen to those bonus episodes on Patreon if i choose to make pocket cast my main app.
Edit: thank you guys for the help with pocket casts and providing education. I got something fun to do tonight with getting my pocket casts set up. Im pretty sure the bf will be happy he doesn’t have to pay for duo anymore lol.
I would love some recs on long investigative journalism-style podcasts! I’m interested in work that dives deeply into a single topic or story. My ideal episode length is at least 50 minutes.
Listened to & LOVED: Serial (all seasons & spinoffs, but especially S2 & S4), In the Dark (ditto), TAL hourlongs/two parters, Bear Brook.
Liked: I was okay with Your Own Backyard. I like the length of Behind the Bastards/Normal Gossip, but I’m not a big fan of the storytelling style—I want something more narrative. The stories that Tortoise media tells are powerful, urgent & interesting (Neil Gaiman, The Walkers) but I’m not a big fan of their production style/episode lengths. Same goes with CBC (Sea of Lies, Hunting Warhead) & Deep Cover.
Disliked: the Wedding Scammer or Scamanda because of incessant ads, BBC podcasts like the Lazarus files because of ads + short episodes. I also wasn’t able to get into S-town, and I’m not sure why—it just didn’t grab me.
I feel like I should love this podcast based on the concepts and content, but everyone I try to get into it I find it irritating.
It’s hard to put my finger on, but it feels too…academic, maybe?
Curious if anyone else feels this way?
I drive a lot every day and listen to podcasts constantly. Above are some of my favourites. I like the “I’ve got an issue/problem/question, can you help me solve it” type of podcast. Anyone got more in that style. I also really enjoyed “vanity plate” from that mystery show!
I don’t mind maybe a scene where a character is almost sexually assaulted but I’d like to read a fantasy book without gratuitous rape and violence.
I’d also like to not support a Mormon author or a zionist. Young Adult is fine but I would rather read books meant for adults. And hopefully nothing where the main point is a romance and smut.
Fantasy/Adventure with a female lead would be preferred, especially a female lead who is brown skinned added points if she’s latina or latina coded. A romance subplot is also a plus as long as it’s not the main plot but I’m fine without it.
No Sci-fi as I find sci-fi dull.
Some books I’ve enjoyed somewhat recently were Uprooted by Naomi Novik (technically YA) which I found a tad unsatisfying but enjoyable enough and Circe by Madeline Miller which felt very liberal white woman-y but was also enjoyable enough. Read through The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert and very middle of the road but kept me entertained. …
I’ve gotten more involved in leftist organizations, and have been frustrated by how unfocused and inefficient they are. I have the same beliefs as them but have found more than 1 group to be very focused on purity testing, being performative or being correct, not knowledgeable about history or theories of change etc.
Of course there are more focused leftist groups. But I am perplexed by how we got to where a lot of these orgs are.
Honestly the book I read that provided the most insight was Cultish
Im not even sure specifically what to ask for. Maybe just histories of leftist organizations? Analysis of how/why they failed? It seems like a very specific, insular culture, and Id like to understand how we got here
EDIT: I didn’t know if my request made sense, but I’m glad everyone understood exactly what I was trying to get at. Ironically I would love for them to read these books but do not think they would .
Hi everyone! I’m trying to get back into reading and I’m looking for a book that really hooks you fast—the kind where you keep saying “one more chapter” and suddenly it’s 2am.
I’m open to pretty much any genre (fiction or nonfiction), but I especially enjoy:
- Strong characters
- A compelling plot from early on
- Emotional or thought-provoking moments
Thank you!
One of the best decisions I’ve ever made was subscribing to this sub. I love reading, and I struggle with finding new books to read. This place changed all that.
What book was suggested to you here that lived up to the hype?
I’ll start: Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry and The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden.
I’m in charge of picking my book clubs book for the month of March and it needs to be historical fiction! What’s the best one you’ve ever read? My favorite I’ve read was Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon.
Looking for books where you just marveled over the author’s writing. And you liked the book overall too, you’re glad you read it
I hope this is not against the rules, it says no adult imagery, but i just ask for game titles.
by adult game i mean the sexy kind.
I have been kinda on a adult game binge throughout 2025 and played many of the big ones, but many were visual novels and i am kinda tired of the linear renpy stuff, as good as some of them are.
Any good adult game suggestions that are actually good games with real gameplay of any sorts? Genre doesnt matter, be it a beat em up, shooter, management game, hell if its a racing game, i’d play that… funny enough i found one of those, lust for speed, cannot recommend at its current state.
i know about wild life and carnal instincts, you dont need to mention those \^\^
I long for games that capture the night feeling. Something similar to the posts from r/TheNightFeeling
GTA 5 does it well especially with the greenish colour of some streetlights
Skyrim’s nightly adventures where the moonlight covers the mountains and buildings. Horizon zero dawn and Red dead redemption 2 also does it similarly.
Yes, you could put any games with night cycles but most I’ve tried doesn’t capture that specific nostalgic/cozy/grim feeling.
More examples:
edit: Thank you all for the suggestions! I’ve picked up several games :)
I’ve played lots of horror games. And yeah, sure, some give good (jump)scares, but few are actually unsettling. I am looking for games that have a very creepy atmosphere. I want to be creeped out, even after the game I want my neck hair to stand up. Which games aren’t necessarily scary, but actually creepy and unsettling?
I’ve really gotten into KCD2 over the past week or so, but I’m finding it generally difficult to want to keep roleplaying as a man. I know there’s unlikely to be anything to the same quality as KCD2 but I just really like thinking about like what clothing i’m wearing and social niceties and all that stuff it’s just so fun.
Bethesda games specifically do not have what I’m looking for, they make you a bit too important to the world and everything. Would prefer if possible something where you’re just like a non-important woman, though I also understand chosen ones and the like are very common in the RPG scene.
How reactive are Bioware games generally? I’ve played a bit of Mass Effect 1 and it just didn’t really have like enough like roleplay opportunies for me, a lot of the time i felt the backstory should be relevant and it just wouldn’t come up and stuff like that.
Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a game discovery site and finally feel like it’s ready to share: https://nodal.gg/
I’ve always been surprised how hard it is to find genuinely good game recommendations on Steam, so I tried building something better using my stats/ML background.
My main takeaway was that “similar games” usually means two different things:
So if you want recs for Cyberpunk 2077, you might mean “more cyberpunk vibe” (e.g., Cloudpunk) or “same audience overlap” (e.g., The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt / Fallout 4). The site lets you switch between those modes or blend them.
Hey folks, I’m a big fan of survival crafting games that give you a “Cozy inside while the world outside is crazy” sort of feeling.
Like sitting in your treehouse while robots roam the landscape below, or a cabin in a snowstorm. Preferably I’d like to be able to feel cozy in a shelter I can build and decorate/arrange.
Here’s a few games that hit this particular feeling for me:
Valheim: Sitting in my little longhouse in front of a roaring fire was always incredibly cozy feeling, especially when there’s a storm outside.
Return to Moria: Played this with a friend and after we made our nice little hall it was great eating food and drinking beer a bright and merry surrounding while we could occasionally hear orcs patrolling outside but completely oblivious to us.
The Long Dark: Doesn’t exactly fit because you can’t construct your own shelter, but it is relieving to be indoors while a storm rattles the windows with a nice supply of …
I just created a wallpaper that is my barcode, and my iPhone 📱 will automatically switch to that wallpaper when arriving to the gym, and back when I leave!
I’ve been putting together this collection of all actions available from just Apples apps. I’m nearly finished with it and was thinking about posting it here if anyone would be interested. I’m thinking about adding more columns for input/outputs
What this is
A beginner-focused slide deck for learning Apple Shortcuts, built to explain how Shortcuts actually works instead of just giving copy-paste recipes.
⸻
Why it exists
Most tutorials show what buttons to press but not why anything works. That makes it hard to troubleshoot, modify, or build your own shortcuts later.
This deck teaches Shortcuts as a data-flow system using a simple framework:
Get → Transform → Share
If you understand that, most shortcuts stop feeling confusing.
⸻
What’s inside
• Clear visuals showing how data moves between actions
• Simple use cases and examples
• Pro tips to avoid common beginner mistakes
• Short case studies
• Mini projects at the end so you can build something yourself
Advanced topics are intentionally avoided.
⸻
Who it’s for
• Complete beginners
• People who can follow tutorials but struggle to build their own
• Anyone who wants to understand why shortcuts work
⸻
Why I’m sharing it
I kept seeing the same questions …
Have you ever scrolled through the Shortcuts action picker wondering what half the actions actually do? Or tried to figure out what output type an action returns so you know what to feed into the next step?
The Shortcuts app doesn’t really show much descriptions or output types when you’re browsing actions - you kind of have to add them and test it out. I’ve been frustrated by this for a while, so I built something to help.
Shortcuts Actions Explorer - a searchable, filterable database of all 1,800+ actions across 69 apps:

What you’ll find for each action:

Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on this app called LudyActions for a while now and finally got it to a point where I’m happy to share it.
Basically, it adds 196 custom actions to the Shortcuts app. Things like text processing (regex, case conversion, extracting emails/URLs from text), math operations including trig functions, JSON parsing with deep key paths, PDF merge and split, video trimming, and a bunch more.
I use Shortcuts a lot for automating random stuff, and I kept running into situations where the built-in actions weren’t quite enough. Toolbox Pro and Actions are great but I wanted something that covered my specific use cases without having to pay for features I don’t use.
Some things that might be useful to folks here:
- Persistent storage with iCloud sync across devices
- HTTP …
