I’m looking to get good at shortcuts but am unable to find any resources past a basic level. What did everyone else use?
Edit: Thank you for all the help everyone!
for me it’s “colors” by Radiolab and “Fiasco” This american life. I’d love to hear yours as well. Which one has stuck with you forever and makes you revisit and listen again time to time?
Been a while since I’ve been able to say that. Fingers crossed.
I don’t believe in any of the paranormal things and prefer the scary stories that are about true events that could happen to anyone like stalkers or cults or private investigator stories. Think like a lazy Masquerade/mr nightmare type stories
I enjoyed the first two because it focused on the doctor, how they got in trouble, and their malpractice. So far, 4(?) episodes into this season, and it’s all about this guy who lied about his wedding. am I missing something or is this season just… not the same as the first two?
Thought it might be a good idea to get some recommendations collated as we approach the anniversary, as I’ve seen it start to crop up here over the past few weeks.
Feel free to add anything you feel fits the bill, but I’ll start with these 4.
Missing on 9⁄11. https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-missing-on-9-11-83089219/ “Sept. 10, 2001. One block from the World Trade Center. Security cameras capture the last known images of Dr. Sneha Anne Philip, shopping. The next day, chaos. What happened to Sneha?”
This one has had some amazing bonus content about photos taken inside the towers and FBI audio capturing the morning and the actual jet impacts.
Long Shadow https://shows.acast.com/long-shadow/ “Many Americans watched the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 unfold right before our eyes. What happened on 9⁄11 and how it changed our world is the most important story of the modern age. It’s the hinge on which so much changed. But in the …
I am looking for a book / short story which offers reflection upon / offers an answer to the meaning of life.
I have been feeling depressed for about 7 months now (thankfully not diagnosed with chronic depression) , and lately I have had a lot of suicidal thoughts and intents. I would like to read about what people have found to be the meaning of life, in their own experience of life / or a general theory.
The question that has been haunting me is: why are we obligated to live in this life, despite it being so hurtful?
I used to think I would never contemplate suicide seriously. I am genuinely trying to seek other points of view. Also, I have dropped the habit of reading and am trying to get back into it slowly.
PS for those who asked: I am currently in therapy, and even taking medication. While these suicidal thoughts have been getting more intense, I am immensely grateful to be able to get help. I intend to continue therapy for as long as needed
Thank you :) edit: I really …
Hi all! I’m a software engineer by profession and I’m exhausted by the constant amount of pressure + office politics + climbing up the ladder that we are all expected to do. Everyone I grew up with and my family all chose STEM fields so I lack perspective on what life looks like outside of this field.
I’m really torn on the inside. A part of me wants to chase money and climb up the corporate ladder. Mostly cause that’s what everyone is doing, so I feel like I’m missing out. The other half really just wants to live a simple life, surrounded by nature, with enough money to support that. I know it’s easy to say that comparison is the thief of joy, but it’s so hard to do. I think I’m nearing burn out and I just keep thinking that this can’t be it. There has to be more to living right?
I really am exhausted. I need to know that there are other ways to live, that isn’t defined by high pressure deadlines, bugs, fixes, crashes, …
Ta lovvies!
Edit: Wow, I didn’t expect so many responses, thanks for all the suggestions! There’s enough here to keep me going for a lifetime! I will reference back to this thread whenever I’m looking for a new read!
Two that come to mind are Starsector (https://fractalsoftworks.com/) and Vintage Story (https://www.vintagestory.at/)… two really solid games that I haven’t seen much marketing for.
Also I know that some games are available on Steam but not listed in search or any of their recommendations, I’d count those too!
What else is out there?
I just need a game that is online, but won’t tilt me ? Hope that makes sense . Free or paid doesn’t really matter
I would prefer a game I could play with my friends League was that to me but yeah it tilts me way too much .
Preferable a game that’s not a BR , already started playing Warframe.
I know about Risk of Rain 2 but I have too many games too search in which of those you can actually be overpowered after some playtime. Maybe Skyrim but we all know that.
Edit: Thanks, keep on going with the suggestions because this could also be helpful for other users looking for the same type of games. I know many of the series that got recommended but forgot about many too so thanks, I’ll take the time to try as many as I can. Really appreciate y’all
I love the idea of games like rust and the forest for base building and scavenging for things to make weapons and tools but not a fan of major combat with other players or scary creatures. I just want to build a cabin (or massive base) in the woods, kill some animals for food, maybe get chased by the odd wolf or animal trying to kill me, maybe even find a few other players hanging around and doing the same thing and just exploring a beautiful world.

Is there anything like that in existence? I have tried no mans sky and it is interesting but I find it got really complicated really fast. I have also played satisfactory to death.
