There are some not pictures because they’re either basic plastics that weren’t on the display shelves or my kids have claimed them or something, but this is the lion’s share!
Puddle of mud is what they’re called.
My favorites so far are the cold fusion GT, the SB-2s and this handquake
I really like podcasts that really dig into a single case, like Your Own Backyard, Three, or Down the Hill. I know there are so many out there, but it’s overwhelming to know where to start! Or, where to continue. Thank you in advance!
Someone recently recommended this and I just wanted to pass along my sincere thanks. It was one of the best nonfiction podcasts I’ve had the pleasure of listening to in recent memory. I’m a full-time artist and can go through a whole series in a day. Was fun to stop myself yesterday knowing I’d look forward to finishing it today.
P.S. I wish there was a nonfiction flare in this sub.
Pardon the pun (and possible click-baity title), but it’s criminal we don’t have an active subreddit dedicated to Criminal by Phoebe Judge. It looks like the only one created isn’t active—description says it’s gone silent due to the API issue.
Does that mean we can’t make a new one? Any other fans out there interested?
For those who aren’t familiar, Criminal isn’t a podcast about true crime in the usual sense. It’s more of an exploration of human experience. To quote their own description, it’s a show about people “who’ve done wrong, been wronged, or fall somewhere in the middle.” My all time favorite episode is called “How to Sell a Haunted House.”
What are some true crime series and single episodes that are not talked about enough?
For me:
The Pretend Podcast: Who’s Afraid of Ladonna Humphrey - An investigative series about a true crime author accused of harassment and manipulation (that description doesn’t really do it justice, the story is incredibly bizarre and mind blowing)
Maybe it’s not considered true crime, since there isn’t any violence involved.
Anyone have any hidden gems? Bonus if it’s either a single episode or shorter multi part series.
EDIT: I tend to steer clear of any stories involving torture, gratuitous descriptions of violence or SA, and anything involving harm to children. The one I’m recommending in this post does contain mentions of SA of an adult, in the first episode.
I think host chemistry is everything when it comes to podcasts. Nothing beats two hosts with great natural banter and chemistry, and I find two hosts is always better than one.
What comes to mind? I’d love some recommendations along these lines. I’m open to any genre, but would especially be pleased to find something new in the tech/business news category.
Some I’ve enjoyed over the years include Reply All, Office Ladies, Pivot, and Hard Fork.
I am absolutely in love with Northwoods Baseball Sleep Radio. I can’t think of another podcast I like more. The thing is I’ve burned through all the episodes already. I’m still enjoying listening to them again just has anyone found something similar? I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for Welcome To Nightvale I have tried it but it gives me the creeps listening to it at night trying to relax lol. Daytime it’s fine.
I am looking for something to read to my students. We are locked down due to missile strikes and scrambling to teach remote. They are scared and their families are stressed. I just want to see their faces and read them a book online. I can use my public library to get almost any book.
I have two groups of students, 2nd and 3rd graders. My students have language and literacy challenges, i.e. dyslexia, working memory challenges, executive functioning challenges.
Can you recommend something light? Something a little more complex for my 3rd graders, and something shorter for my 2nd graders.
I don’t need it to teach them anything, I don’t need a message of resilience, I just want a distraction, connection, and love for literacy.
My first thought was Sideways Stories from Wayside School, but I am not sure my students would “get it?”
Any suggestions are appreciated. Also if you have one for me… I am also losing my mind 4 days into an escalating conflict …
I loved Piranesi so much that I’ve struggled to enjoy much that I’ve read since then because nothing seems to compare. Do you have any recommendations that include some of the things I loved most about Piranesi: a kind, gentle, earnest narrator, a beautiful world, and gorgeous writing? I’ve already read all of Susanna Clarke’s other work, along with Erin Morgenstern’s.
Thank you!
Hello everyone,
My daughter is turning 16 in a few weeks, and I’ve come up with what I hope is a good gift idea. I want to give her 16 books to mark the occasion. The problem is… I’m completely out of my element with her favorite genre.
We both love to read, which is something I’m very grateful for. But our tastes are different, I’m a thriller and crime fiction guy… give me a gritty detective story or a realistic police procedural and I’m happy. My daughter, on the other hand, loves to escape into sprawling, imaginary worlds.
She has read and absolutely adored everything by Tolkien. She also recently read Ā Three by A.E Van Gogt and liked it. She also has some books about vampires and witches but I don’t really know them. So it seems she likes deep worlds, scifi, fantasy and maybe stories with an artistic or emotional touch.
My goal is to either find her a great, complete series or 16 individual books that a fan of fantasy would …
I’ve been having a rough time with my mental health lately and just want something comforting to sink into. I read every genre that’s likely to have a book that fits the criteria so don’t hold back. Bonus points if it’s on Kindle Unlimited because I’m cheap
EDIT: Yes, I know I’m picky. I also read probably more than I should. I just want to say I hope you don’t take it personally if I don’t like something you’ve suggested or if I’ve already read it. I really appreciate all the suggestions
No family of their own. No partner. No college degree or qualification. No career. No hope.
Either fiction or non fiction
I used to devour books. I was an English major, writer, worked at a book store…I’m a teacher now. And yet I have been sucked into my phone and struggle to read these days. I did read The Tell last year. I need a compelling book.
I (m15) want to play video games that have a good storyline. I never really found minecraft or Fortnite interesting because the storylines just arent strong enough. That being said, I want to find good video games with a good storyline that doesn’t include killing people. My mom hates it and (despite my pristine behavior) is completely basing my video games catalogue around FaceBook stories incluidng teenagers who played a violent video game and then decided to kill someone.I have never been violent or shown any kind of violent wants. Heres the kicker; my mom and I watch horror shows and occasionally movies all the time. I have watched tons of horrors (new and old) but I still can’t play any kind of violent video games. She says that she doesn’t know why I am so obsessed with killing people, but I’m getting to the age where super mario bros and mario kart just isnt fun anymore. So how do I tell my mom I dont want to kill people, and can anybody recommend a t rated videogame (preferably …
I’m tired of slaying dragons and getting a house and maybe a wife or three out of the deal. I want to team up with the dragon and burn everything down while being thanked for it. I’m looking for the opposite of games like New Vegas where being evil locks me out resources. I don’t want to be evil then still be roped into a main quest where I’m redeemed as a good guy at the end. I want to conquer the world and maybe give it up when I’m bored of it.
I’m interested in what games people changed thier opinion on games mid way through them to such a way that it went from negative to positive.
I’m looking for something I could play while chatting to someone or listening to a podcast, something that wouldn’t require too much attention. But I’m just sick of farming. Anything with a lot of customisation options is a huge bonus, and I prefer for them to have cute graphics!
Only games for PC please!
Some games like this that I’ve enjoyed:
been playing mewgenics and it made me realize my love for the necromancer class.
am wondering if there are any games that have this archetype in the game
I’d love to know how many have actually been bought by shortcut and why.
Hey guys.
Wife’s phone got ripped from her hands today which led to a bunch of problems which I don’t need to get into here.
I’m trying to make a shortcut that locks phone if airplane mode is toggled on while phone is locked. Since you can already turn off the ability to access control panel and change that with phone unlocked, this would be helpful to many users. Might already be a shortcut out there for this but I wasn’t able to find one that solves this issue.
It is very common in Brazil (and now Europe and UK too) to snatch phones from people’s hands when iPhone is unlocked. They then turn on airplane mode and take phone to “secure location” where they try and breach apples security and access banking apps, make purchases on food delivery apps and all sorts of petty crimes…
I made this simple shortcut that solves the issue. However, on regular use, the user cant use the phone in airplane mode because as soon as you turn it on, …
was indecisive on what to make my actoon button so i made a whole menu, if you wanna download here

Created a shortcut to journal my meals using ai
I have been trying to watch what I eat for health reasons so using short cuts and ai I created a shortcut to log what and when I eat into a food journal in notes. Example in images
Any tips on how I can make this better?
Is anyone using their shortcuts in a similar way?
Apple’s Siri 2.0 update revealed in WWDC 2024 consisted of 2 main elements, a smarter Siri able to intelligently perform actions with natural language and with deeper in-app controls with App Intents/shortcuts and a Personal Semantic Index capable of surfacing specific info across app. This second one is pretty ambitious and where I honestly believe apple is currently struggling to get working reliably due to the complexity of such task, the context window and compute required to do this quickly and accurately is something that even SOTA cloud models like Gemini with Google Workspace can struggle with some times (And hence why while I tried to get something to work within the limitations of Apple Shortcuts I determined it may be possible but would be slow and inaccurate even when using Private Cloud Compute making it impractical to pull off). The first part however is something that while Siri can somewhat do today requires the user to exactly name the shortcut/App Intent they …
