Here is a shortcut that allows you to add items to a grocery list in the reminders app by scanning the barcodes.
**This shortcut uses the camera, the DataJar app, and the reminders app.
You will have to build up the database, but once you do it will be scan to add.
**This app is not very long, like 20 actions, so please read through the comments to configure.
Add to Grocery List Reminders app
**Edit: I have been working on trying to get this to work with the regular dictionary so people who don’t have or don’t know about DataJar can use this. So far unsuccessful. I’ll continue working on it.
** Due to the request to use notes instead of reminder app, here you go: Add to Grocery List Notes
Is there another podcast similar to the “old” Radiolab?
I don’t re-listen to podcasts often, but whenever I do, I get flashbacks to exactly where I was/what I was looking to when I hear parts/lines that I remember from listening to it originally.
I’m sure I’m not the only one, and I’m guessing it has to do with some sort of link between audio and visual memory that we develop from watching movies/TV?
Again, I know this is kind of a random/weird question haha
I haven’t been paying attention to new podcasts since I lost that job in March 2020. I like stuff like 20,000Hz, Radiolab, Darknet Diaries, and anything that tells a story. I’m open to all suggestions though! Even if I don’t like the sound of your suggestion, someone reading this thread might.
Edit: Thank you everyone for so many recommendations! It’s too many to reply to each comment but I will check out each one. :)
Im fairly recently getting into podcasts. I’ve often thought about being able to clean my mind of memories of my favorite shows (Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, etc) so I could go back and rewatch them. With that said, what is the podcast you wish you were able to listen to it again for the first time? Hunting Warhead would be mine but I haven’t listened to that many yet. Hope everyone has a great day!
Looking for recommendations on the best “history of …” podcasts which start from the very beginning and continue through the years in a single narrative. So far I’ve listened to “The History of English” by Kevin Stroud, “Literature and History” by Doug Metzger and “The History of Egypt” by Dominic Perry. All of them are excellent examples of what I’m looking for.
I’ve also listened to the “History of Africa” by Andy which is a different type of history, it jumps around and doesn’t present a continuous story, which is not something I’m interested in.
I love the complimentary podcasts HBO puts out for some it’s shows - Chernobyl and Raised by Wolves were great audio experiences in addition to being awesome tv shows IMO.
BoB is one of the most critically acclaimed TV shows of all time and for the 20th anniversary of it’s release HBO have rolled out a 12 part weekly podcast!
Three episodes in so far with Tom Hanks, Ron Livingstone and John Orloff.
For anyone who has an interest in the show, WW2 history or television production, it’s a must listen!
Edit: I should have mentioned the podcast is available on Apple, Spotify, HBO and YouTube - possibly on other platforms too
Would love to hear some special recommendations! I’ve been looking for new books to read for awhile, but kept on seeing the same titles being recommended. Really looking forward to seeing some of your favourite; underrated books!
Edit: Thanks so much for the overwhelming response! Im gonna spend my night looking through the books, thanks to everyone who are so nice to share!
Edit 2: really loving the recommendations so far! As a form of gratitude i’ll be trying my best to compile a list in the next week, cheers:)
Please recommend me something that will help me get out of comfort reading the Harry Potter series for the 11th time. I need something for adults.
I like romance novels but I gave the UnHoneymooners a go and the references to pop culture took me out of the story.
I also like fantasy or sci fi stuff but sometimes too much world building makes it hard to get into it.
Basically please rec me anything that will get me out of reading the Hunger Games again and into the realm of books that I won’t be embarrassed to admit I’m reading when my coworkers ask. Thank you!
Edit: I’m getting so many great suggestions so I thought I’d mention I’m only really interested in fantasy/sci-fi if it has a good romance plot. My favourite trope is enemies to lovers (cliche I know) or forbidden romances etc.
Also since I’m getting a lot of comments about it, just pointing out that I’m not embarrassed to be reading YA. I’m just hoping to branch out a bit. I will most definitely continue to comfort read my …
I’ve read so many thrillers and horror books, but none of them have managed to actually scare me. The only thing that got close were the parts of The Shining that include Danny’s inner monologue - those reminded me a little too much of my own childhood fears.
But other than that, I’ve never actually been scared by a book; I’m hoping you guys can help me change that!
Edit: I’m already so grateful for each and every one of you guys‘ recommendations! I promise that I’ll drop a reply and/or DM to every person whose rec I’ll end up reading - with a note of whether or not you managed to scare me. :)
Edit 2: Here‘s the (ongoing until Reddit won’t let me edit the post anymore) list of suggestions I’ve read and whether or not they’re scary:
Nr. 1 Snowblind by Michael McBride. 4⁄5 Novella and a solid 4⁄10 on the scary scale. More „what the fuck“ than „scared for my life“, but the visual imagery of the gory scenes were nasty enough to shake me up a little!
I’m in shock. I feel broken. My friends are not in town. I can’t go see them because of COVID. I need books to cope. Please suggest something. Anything. Please. Thanks.
Edit - I’m honestly overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone who replied to this post. A few of you even reached out via PM. I sincerely cannot thank you guys enough for the support and the suggestions. Though right now I have to run some errands, I’m going to reply to every comment when I’m back. Thank you so much once again, it means a lot.
Edit 2 - I think I replied to every comment. Apologies if I accidentally missed someone. I just want to say thank you so much to everyone once again. I got some great suggestions and your kind words are keeping me afloat. I hope all of you find what you’re looking for in life.
Ok let me explain, when reading nosleep or scp stories i’ve found a lot of stories where the MC(‘s) discover/fall into/explore etc. a space that is unsettlingly… wrong. Some examples are House of leaves, The left right game, Piranesi, Coraline. I remember reading a story about a characters on a staircase that extended forever, something like that would fit perfectly. Or even something like the stairs in the woods series would be great, basically just weird, wrong, and unsettling settings.
I recently finished the series of Harry Bosch by Michael Connelly and i would like to find something similar. I’ve already read Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie’s books. I will appreciate any recommendations!!!
Edit: Thank you so much for your suggestions and for your time!!! Truly,I am amazed… All of them are wonderful recommendations and i made a list of all of them!!!
I have Dead Cells, Shovel Knight, Enter the Gungeon, SMB, Limbo, Hollow Knight, Undertale, Hades and a handful other games. Now I want to play new indie games that will blow me away.
edit: Thank you so much for all the recommendations! I did not expect so many replies
hey guys im looking for some lewd games that arent just visual novels. Visual Novels are fine I just want one that has other aspects to it. Something akin to Huniepop. I want there to be an actual reason for me to play the game rather than me just being horny
A game where you don’t really need to get down of your ship (maybe you can send robots or something to get resources?), but you can fully walk, expand, upgrade parts, expand it and manage your ship.
I love atmospheric, narrative-driven FPS games, where the story and characters are just as engaging as the gunplay. Even better if the game is a little creepy. Any recommendations?
(And while it doesn’t perfectly fit into these parameters, I thought Portal 2’s story and gameplay were fantastic).
