So I’ve never posted anything before but I just really wanted to see what y’all thought of the progress I’ve made. I’m new to yoyoing, like my first yoyo literally got delivered 3 months ago today. I also have rheumatoid arthritis so the Mach Five Revolution looks awful because I can’t really bend my wrists like at all almost so I can’t actually twist my wrist like you’re supposed to. The only way I can do it and still keep the strings semi in line is to toss it and basically move my whole arm with it. That obviously doesn’t give me much control over it for catching back into the slack of the string after the revolution, but one problem at a time I guess 😅 I also still haven’t really figured out how to seamlessly transition from one trick to another without completely starting over and throwing the yoyo again. Which feels kinda dumb to post about since I don’t really look like I know what I’m doing yet. Gotta start somewhere though I guess haha
Tyler and I had some time to kill before the Field Medic show in Philly last week so I filmed some clips of him throwing the Trevor Boice edition Slap Jr 💙 some classic 1A and an immaculate shirt 🐅
Are they good? I tried listening to it yesterday and it was just a bunch of dudes giggling and saying stupid stuff. Maybe it was just a bad one? I’ve heard that it’s one of the better ones and was kind of surprised that people liked it. Maybe I’m just missing something?
Has anyone here listened to The Secret World of Roald Dahl? I just binged it and had some mixed feelings, and wanted to hear what others thoughts.
First off, IMO, cheers to the producer. I was very engaged, appreciated the research and writing, and it’s clear he had a lot of passion for the topic. Definite talent there, no question. I’m curious to hear more of his work.
But…I also feel like the podcast promised one thing and broke its initial agreement with the audience as episodes passed. As the show went on, the producer kept fitting in little personal reflections and anecdotes, and suddenly the biography became sort of a bio-opinion, which wasn’t what I personally wanted. Eventually the series gets to the topic of Dahl’s antisemitism. And while that’s important to address, the show abandons the narrative it set in favor of what felt like a type of cultural commentary you get on social media or on a different type of show altogether. I really wish the producer had considered those …
I’m looking for a podcast to listen to with my friend on a road trip. We want something crazy and unhinged (borderline satire) that will inspire lots of “WHAT???” And rants. Could be about crazy relationship drama, alpha male podcasts etc… I’m just looking for something to totally entertain us for 6ish hours.
always need podcasts on while i’m getting chores done, and would really like more that make me laugh. it seems like a lot of “comedy” podcasts now rely more on vibes and repeated catchphrases than jokes with a setup and payoff, and i would like to find more where they’re making actual observations and jokes.
i last lol’d at the maintenance phase/if books could kill crossover episode (so i’m aware of all the hosts’ related podcasts). i always appreciate punching up, especially when it comes to grifters.
i like parody true crime when it’s done well - i really liked this sounds serious, a very fatal murder & murder on sex island. wasn’t too keen on valley heat [edit: now received 5+ recs for this show even though i said this, lol]. i’m subscribed …

After reading the article* at the link, I realize I don’t really sit in silence anymore. I listen to podcasts while walking my dog, driving, exercising, folding laundry, cleaning, and also, sadly, going to sleep. I 100% use podcasts as a way to motivate me to do anything I find even slightly boring or tedious.
It really feels like an excessive habit that’s maybe addiction-adjacent. It’s not overtly harmful, but I can’t see how it wouldn’t affect creative thinking or healthy rumination. Curious to hear the thoughts of fellow podcast listeners.

who is the larry king/ james lipton/ barbara walters of our time?
I just finished We Are All Guilty Here and sheesh – the constant quoting of crime statistics and gushing over how cops have aMaZiNg iNtUiTiOn was so cringe. Can I get some recs for mysteries that were written in the last ~15 years and aren’t so pro-cop? (I’m not opposed to cops as characters or even MCs, just want a novel that isn’t so heavy-handed with the “crime is everywhere and cops are heroes” ideology). Also open to mysteries set in sci-fi/fantasy/historical settings.
hey so i just finished The Women by Kristin Hannah and i am just wondering… how am i ever supposed to read another book ever again?
are you kidding me?
i am absolutely shattered
i thought the nightingale was one of the best books ive ever read and it surely was, but holy cow
the depth of Frankie
how did yall move on after reading this one? where do i go from here??
UPDATE:
I think I am in between My Friends and The Great Alone…..
Thank you for all the suggestions! You guys are totally inspiring me!!
I want to read more books where the narrator is a villain. Not necessarily THE villain of the story. I want to read from the perspective of a person who is not ‘good’.
This can be open to interpretation too, they don’t have to be a bad person in a black & white sense! Perhaps they are bad in the eyes of others but believe they are fighting for good.
As the title says. I’ve been feeling bitter, angry, very negative and down. No self-help books please, I’m so sorry for saying this.
I want to read stories or characters who makes me feel some hope or help me hate myself or my choices in life a little less.
Please help me out if you got some suggestions. Thank you.
Books that disturbed you, made you say wtf out loud, made you gag etc. I haven’t read any books that have impacted me in those ways in a while. I’ve read lolita, fight club, tender is the flesh, we need to talk about kevin, the rape of nanking, american psycho, 120 days of sodom, johnny got his gun, I have no mouth and I must scream, perfume: the story of a murderer, requiem for a dream, the road, blood meridian, the wasp factory, a clockwork orange and night.
Please tell me something like this exists. I need hope.
I just need a gane to hop on after a long day at school
blast some music in my headset and play. I want it to be
infinite or infinitely replayable (optional but perferable)
and I want it to be so I can kinda turn my brain off and be
with the music and my thoughts (also optional but nice)
Some inspo would be dead cells, minecraft, terraria (the
inspo is not that accurate and it doesn’t have to be those
genres but thats kinda similar to the vibe I’m going for).
The game doesn’t have to fulfill my criteria just drop
something you think would work for me. Or just a drop a
good/chill game in general.

In your view, which video games come closest to representing the artistic pinnacle of gaming as a medium and why? By ‘artistic pinnacle’ I mean the kind of work which a fan of the medium might point to as being an example of what is possible, e.g. where literature might have Hamlet or the Brothers Karamazov, music might have Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, painting might have the Sistine Chapel, etc.
An assumption I would make is that a masterpiece of that kind might be entertaining, and probably is entertaining, but entertainment value won’t directly correspond to artistic value and a great work of art might not be enjoyable or entertaining in the conventional sense. Instead, it’s the kind of experience that evokes powerful feelings and makes you look at the world differently.
Some of the characteristics we might typically associate with art of that level might be beauty, psychological depth, emotional depth, emotional breadth (i.e. the range of emotions produced), craftsmanship.
Given …
I recently found myself playing several NSFW games again just for their gameplay and I am curious how many more like them exist.
The two that I have repeatedly come back to are:
TF Card Battle by Apollo 7, which is a deck based engine builder (not even my usual genre of NSFW but the gameplay is so good I don’t care at all)
Resist the Succubus - The End of the Female Knight, an auto battler
Both are genuinely well made if somewhat narrow examples of their respective genres and I come back to them to experiment with multiple different strategies long after I have exhausted all available NSFW content. I would love to add to that lineup.
I’m really interested in the idea of something like a sim game where there’s an emphasis on the safety and coziness of the base you’re building in contrast to the danger outside. Something like a zombie game, perhaps? I’m mentally picturing something where there’s almost a They Are Billions-esque darkness and brutality to the outside world whereas inside your base you get warm colours, cozy fires and interactions between NPCs or something. Is there anything like that on the market? Doesn’t have to be a colony sim like TAB, just to be clear.
Games I’ve tried that didn’t really get close but were in the ballpark:
- Fallout Shelter
- Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days
- They Are Billions
- the State of Decay games (had a good vibe to them tho)
- Project Zomboid (Might’ve come really close if it had NPCs)
- Rimworld
So yeah, any suggestions?
Hide secret text or an entire photo inside another image directly from Shortcuts. Just pick your background image and the data you want to hide. It might take a moment to process, but it’s 100% functional.
It also handles the reverse process, revealing hidden content in a snap. It uses the Least Significant Bit (LSB) method.

I got tired of using .txt files, notes, or random JSON workarounds just to store data in iPhone automations.
So I’m building an app that gives Shortcuts and iOS automations something they’ve always been missing: a real database.
It supports local databases, records, custom SQL queries, JSON import/export, CloudKit sync, and Live Notifications on the Dynamic Island.
The idea is simple: instead of saving automation data in messy text files, you can create a proper database, add records, query them with filters or SQL, sync everything across devices, and even show live progress on the Dynamic Island.
Basically, it’s a database layer for people who love Shortcuts but want more power.

Here is a web app for an app-like option with over 800 URL Schemes for iOS 26.
Updates frequently
Search, select categories or filter options.
Tap to copy link / URL Scheme to clipboard (still trying to figure out to tap open and it actually opens the Settings app to its URL Scheme)
Tap share icon -> Add to Home Screen -> add as webapp or so it opens default browser window each time
(edit: not taking all the credit here, credit for the url schemes (confirming, testing, verifying etc.) goes elsewhere (deleted user)
Disclaimer: First of all, yes i know this shortcut isn‘t very complicated and only a bunch of if statements. This was one of my first self made shortcuts once i started getting into it. I also know that it is kind of unnecessary since you can just add the weather widget to your lockscreen, but i thought the idea was fun and i enjoy my changing lockscreen.
Description: The functionality is quite basic. The shortcut checks your location and based on the current weather at your location asigns a different Wallpaper
Setup: Just set up the different Wallpaper for the different weather scenes. I made mine using AI based on a picture i took myself during a travel to Hong Kong and attached them to the post if you‘d like to use those yourself.
The currently supported weather scenarios are:
Night - is set if time is later than sundown
Snow - set if weather is snowy
Rain - set if weather is rainy or at least partially rainy
Cloudy - set if weather is cloudy or at least partially cloudy …
It’s a bit slow and doesn’t work perfectly but I’m proud of it.

It doesn’t look like Merlin has shortcut support beyond opening the app… is there a way to make it hit the record button? Seems like there might be a workaround with accessibility using screen coordinates? I’m not sure bc I’m an amateur. There’s gotta be bird people on this sub.
