Open settings and go to: Accessibility/Voiceover/Speech/Voice/Siri and download your preferred version, the default Siri is voice 4. In the speak text action Siri voice 4 should now be an option, simply pick it instead of the Samantha preset.
I need to turn off my location tracking (but keep my find my app working) on my auto insurance app while I’m driving my work vehicle. Is there a way to turn off my location automatically and within a set schedule so I don’t have to keep logging into the app to turn off location or go into settings to turn off my location.
“You pissed off people by somewhat breaking your app, and they’re leaving angry reviews. How can you salvage your reputation? Apple just found one incredibly effective way — get listeners to submit better reviews by interrupting their podcast experience with an in-app prompt to submit a rating.
That’s how the Apple Podcasts app went from a publicly embarrassing 1.8-star score all the way to 4.6 stars in a little over a month without any actual fixes, as developer and App Store watchdog Kosta Eleftheriou points out. And it’s still going up: according to AppFigures data, the app has been getting thousands of ratings every day since November 9th, with the vast, overwhelming majority of them issuing a 5-star score.”
Well more like episodes from his BBC Radio 4 program. Its called Meet David Sedaris and he does live readings from his books and excerpts from his diary. I always find myself listening to his stories around this time of year and thought I would share. Cheers!
It has been 4 months since I have been listening to unexplained by Richard MacLean Smith. It is one of the best podcasts I’ve heard this year and I can’t believe it took me so long to find it. Absolutely brilliant narration and production. Excellent choice of stories, can’t get enough. The whole vibe and atmosphere of the podcast is extremely soothing.
Hey all!
I’ve been listening to old episode of Coast to Coast. They’re so much fun! Art is a great host! It’s a good time hearing from crazy ufo, conspiracy, paranormal, etc “experts” and the call ins are fun as well.
Are there any podcasts that capture a similar experience and subject matter?
Not looking for a list of recommendations, just curious to hear YOUR favorite of all time!!
Can be about any topic, but I love podcasts where the hosts clearly have a great chemistry and crack each other up
I find it irritating how near-universal this trope seems to be: If a male character and a female character interact to any significant degree, they HAVE TO have simmering sexual tension between them, no matter the circumstances. Personally, I can’t imagine feeling terribly attracted to a vicious criminal who is trying to murder me.
Can you think of stories that actually avert this?
I just turned 35. I’ve been reading novels for 30 years! Sometimes it’s hard to know which direction, genre wise, to turn to next.
I’ve decided to get back into a book (or more!) a week in 2022.
If this post gets enough traction that I end up with 52 suggestions (or more?) I’ll take the top 52 in order and read them all one after the other!
Any genre goes! Could be your favorite, your least favorite, fiction or non, whatever. If I’ve read it already, I’ll just reread it.
And if anyone wants to follow along with this, we could DM about our year-long reading adventure! Who’s in??
Edit: Wow, I am blown away by the number of responses!! Thank you so much. I am beyond excited to sift through the list.
Some folks were asking to be kept in the loop with updates as I’m reading through these. I’m not really a social media person, so I hope the quality of this is okay (yikes lol) but I made a TikTok for it: Stuckinabook77

My new years resolution was to read 26 books this year, and I stayed on track until a couple months of illness slowed my pace significantly. I want to read 6 more books this year, and I need them to be captivating! I’ll read pretty much anything, but prefer a book that makes me think, and don’t generally enjoy love stories. What have you read that you havent been able to put down??
Some of mine I’d suggest to others: the boys in the boat, shantaram, yellow crocus.
Edit: thank you everyone taking the time to make a recommendation! I’ve got so many to work through. I promise to update once I read one you’ve recommended.
I adore the western genre, but I can’t stand the portrayal of indigenous peoples in it. So any western books without that stereotype would be lovely, bonus if it’s actually written by an indigenous author!
Thanks in advance <3
I don’t mind sex scenes in books but prefer a relationship forming that builds up to that point. I’m looking for that fluttery, warm and fuzzy feeling that makes me so happy for the characters, especially when they STAY in love for a long period of time~
Slow-burn fluffy romance for adults, please. Bonus points for historic or music related, thank you!
EDIT: Thank you everybody so much for all the wonderful suggestions! This has easily added like… 100 more books I’d love to read :D
I’ve recently discovered how much I love the feeling of exploring the unknown in video games. And while many games attempt to harness the exploration instinct, few succeed.
Here are some games that I think succeed:
Sunless Skies/Sea: The slow pace makes the world feel vast, the lack of fast-travel gives you a sense of place, and I find the top-down perspective serves the game well: you never know what’s just beyond the light of your steam locomotive. Watching your supplies whither as you search for safe harbor, then the feeling of relief as you return to familiar skies/waters, really hits the spot.
Subnautica: Few games do a better job of making base-building feel like home. The ocean is full of mysteries, and it feels so cozy to return to my base in the shallows.
Outward: One of my favorite games of all time. The lack of player map marker, the lack of fast-travel, hauling your gear through the wilderness, then collapsing on the floor of your house as you finally …
Hello guys, I’ve heard that No Man’s Sky became a really good game over the last few years, and the themes of space eploration and crafting interest me a lot. But I was looking for something to enjoy on my own time, without needing to ask my friends to buy it too. Is the game enjoyable when playing alone, or is it only worth it when I get a group of friends involved ? Thanks in advance !
I really liked The Longest Journey.
btw dont say portal by valve software or else
Pretty much what the title says. I have played Terraria as the summoner class ,but it’s not the thing. Something with a similar idea to solo leveling (manhwa).
I play a ton of obscure indie games, and a bunch of my favorites are currently on sale:
Hexcells and its two sequels, Hexcells Plus and Hexcells Infinite, are three of the best logic puzzle games out there. Really clean aesthetic and sound design, good ramp up of difficulty, mechanics that build on each other in interesting ways. You can get all 3 for $2.69– if you’ve ever enjoyed a Sudoku or Picross puzzle, these get a high recommendation from me.
Tametsi is the best logic puzzle game that exists, period. I just passed 100 hours played in it, and it’s on sale for <$1. An absolute steal. Two reasons I recommend you play it after Hexcells though: the presentation is not as nice, and the difficulty ramps up way faster. But there are as many puzzles in this game as the whole Hexcells trilogy, and there are many unique puzzle shapes.
Spin Rhythm XD is the most fun I’ve had with a rhythm game in a long time. It’s closing in on leaving early access, but …
I know this question has been asked many times before but I figure I’ll give some of my own background to see if that changes any recommendations. I’m looking for a game where it’s really satisfying to be a wizard or magic user and has longevity, without the need to item gather. I recognize item gathering is fun for many, but it leads to me getting bored really fast. I’m ok with progression, but I like an immersive fantasy world where I feel like I’m a powerful mage with a variety of spells. It’s hard for me to get into games that are a bit dated. Here are some of my experiences below to see if anyone has a recommendation:
Dark Souls - favorite game. Finally played the series last year and it was the best gaming experience I’ve had in a very long time, if not ever. I loved playing a magic user and having to be strategic and set the right spells for the situation. Dark Souls Remastered was my favorite of the series.
Skyrim - definitely in my top favorites, but I felt like magic got …
