I have a video of him saying good morning. Id like to program the iphone to play that video if I say, Hey Siri, Good Morning Dad. Is this possible?
I listen to the same playlist whenever I go to the gym. I can see in automations that I can use arrive to trigger the playlist once I get to the gym, but I don’t want it to start playing unless I’ve already put my AirPods in.
I can also see that it’s possible to play a playlist automatically when I connect my AirPods. But I don’t eat my gym playlist coming on every time I put the AirPods in, only when I’m at the gym.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
I kept hearing so many good things about “Behind the Bastards” so I finally decided to look it up and put on a few episodes. How on earth does anyone interested in this genre get past the constant, obnoxious giggling and supposed-to-be-humorous-but-just-trying-way-too-hard commentary? There’s bringing true stories to you in a modern, relatable way (see mrballen) and then there’s BtB with horse laughter and tasteless jokes over the entire episode. Am I missing something here? I have a rule- if I have to say “just shut up already” during an episode it’s a podcast I generally won’t return to.
From the introduction:
This year, makers played with structure in fresh ways, flirting with form and cadence. As the pandemic wore on and limited field reporting, archival tape became central to narratives. Memoirs also shone, allowing homebound producers to shout into the void. In other series, our houses themselves—and the attendant challenges around gentrification and homelessness—were the story. Some shows were hornier than ever before; others sharply connected sex to gendered power dynamics. Others drew parallels between the pandemic and the AIDS crisis or the aftermath of 9⁄11. Producers zeroed in on terrorism—both domestic and abroad—searching for patterns and reaching for hindsight.
The 50 shows on this list outdid their competitors in both ambition and success. They pushed the form, helped us metabolize the world around us (or escape from it), and embodied the spirit of 2021. [Cont…]
If you particularly reccomend any of these …
This morning I was listening to the latest episode of Even The Rich from Wondery. This season is about Jessica Simpson & the 3rd episode details a situation where Jessica bombed her performance at the Kennedy Center honoring Dolly Parton in 2006. They made a big deal about the fact that President Obama was in attendance for the debacle…which is patently false. Obama came into office in 2009. The 2006 Kennedy Center Honors was during the Bush admin. I literally just googled “kennedy center honors 2006” and first result was the link below with a photo of all the honorees & former President Bush.

Made me realize that shows I assumed are well researched sometimes just are not. Am I nuts for losing trust in a podcast after an error like this? Just seems like a wild oversight that SOMEONE should have caught, particularly for a pod that is backed by a company like Wondery and has fact checking …
And why? I enjoy the extraordinary stories podcast by a Scottish man called Barry, he has 100s of stories that goes into depth and each episode lasts roughly a hour, some are beautiful, some are horrifying
Listening to Valley Heat right now makes me feel this way. Ostensibly just a guy talking about his neighborhood but he goes off on bizarre tangents with weird neighbors and the kind of satire you could almost believe is true. Plus it has some really good music in the form of various jingles for the products on advertisement.
Looking for anything that will evoke a similar reaction. Something that’s too bizarre to be explained but is a lot of fun to listen to.
Thanks in advance!
Hey guys, I’m always on the go, so my main form of entertainment is audio, such as podcasts and audiobooks.
I am a native Spanish speaker from Mexico living in the US. I am always speaking English every day and my new city has almost no Latinos, so my Spanish is slipping. I keep forgetting words and get hazy with things I used to be solid at.
I’m only in this city for the next 3 years so I could really use some recommendations of some podcasts any other native speakers listen to.
I like sports, news, comedy, storytelling but am open to anything.
If someone came up to you and said they’d never read a book before you’d recommend them stuff like I dunno - 1984, To Kill A Mockingbird, Jane Eyre, The Hobbit - you know, the stuff that always gets recommended. But what are the obvious picks for poetry? Where do I even start?
In most postapocalyptic or dystopian fiction, the strong, the ruthless, the violent, and the stupid grab the opportunity and turn the world into a nightmare of endless war and desctruction. I know that that is how things are going to go in reality as soon as governmental power collapses. The 2021 United States Capitol attack, the mindless destruction and pillaging following many mass events, from demonstrations to sports, and the barely hidden selfishness and greed of almost everyone holding political or economic power, shows that even if the majority of people are kind and helpful, the brutal few will still turn a whole society into factions that are bitter enemies and would rather attempt to annihilate each other than to cooperate to build a good life for all. But that thought is just too depressing.
So please sugget some books where after some desaster or in the far future the protagonists – as unrealistic as that is – cooperate to make things work and, at least partially, succeed. …
Has any books changed your life and stuck with you?
One of my New Years resolutions is to read a book every month, but I don’t want story books, I want something that is going to add value to my life, has anybody got any recommendations on any books that has changed their life, whether it be financially, a way that you now approach life, a spiritual way or just anyway that has stuck with you?
A little controversial and not something I chat about with friends, so hoping for some recommendations here.
I have really enjoyed the Whitlock series by A.A. Dark and been through almost of Pepper Winters’ work, my favourite was her Monsters in the Dark series. Also recently read Tender is the Flesh and The Road so am open to books of different genres. My favourite genre generally is dystopian but dark romances are edging their way to the top spot!
I have a very morbid sense of curiosity, so the more dark and twisted, the better.
Thanks in advance :)
Edit: WOW! This totally blew up, thank you so much to everyone for your suggestions. Going to go through and add to my TBR for 2022, so excited - thank you!!!
I’m looking for a comedy, any topic/subject matter, and I don’t care about any publication dates! It just needs to make me laugh :)! Bonus points if it made you laugh out loud.
EDIT: I may have not explained this right. I’m referring to the setting and world being completely bizarre, incomparable to any setting in a definited category.
Some examples - Mario games, Loco Roco, Oddworld, Loco Roco, Katamari Damacy; literary example - Alice in Wonderland. Ideally a bit more fleshed out than some of these, but maybe gives some idea.
The responses I’m getting mostly still fit in some clear setting - steampunk, post-apocalypse, fantasy, robots, etc. I’ll pick on one in particular here, but TES is great WITHIN the fantasy genre, but it’s incredibly typical fantasy. Come on.
EDIT2: Wow, this went nuts. I can’t begin to respond to everything. Thanks for all the great suggestions!
There’s plenty of other creativity in games even with traditional tropes/settings/etc, but it’s rare that there’s something you have a hard time even finding a reference to compare it to.
Ideally something that’s actually done well. …
I need to lock myself in my room for three days while I go through withdrawals because I’m horrible to be around when I quit smoking.
I’m looking for single player PC steam games. The ones you hear about that people fuck up their sleep patterns playing and can’t stop.
Some games like this I’ve played;
Kingdom Come Deliverance + all DLCs (best game of all time IMO). Skyrim. Xcom(s). Stardew Valley. Rimworld. FFX. Loophero.
Games I’ve bought so far this sale;
Godhood. Craftlands Workshoppe. As far as the eye. Prison architect + dlcs. Battletech + dlcs
Games I’m waiting for 1.0 release of;
MnB 2. Stoneshard. Zompiercer. Anvil saga. Travellers rest.
I’m not interested in;
Triple A titles. Early access. Horror. Multiplayer. Grand strategy.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT;
Just wanted to say thanks for the huge amount of responses. I stopped replying to every comment because in a huge thread like this it’s not needed and becomes more about …
I’m in the middle of a few different story games and I’d like an alternative for when I feel like just picking something up.
I’m kind of looking for the feeling I use to get playing sports games. I use to pick-up Madden or FIFA and play a match or two and that would be it. Fun, easy, nothing to have to remember ‘where I was’ or whatever.
By all means if that’s still a sports game for you, let me know! Especially if it’s a game that’s fun even if you’re not necessarily a big follower of the sport (I’ve fallen off basically everything but NBA basketball in the past few years)
Or, if it’s something else like a rogue-like or anything else I’d love to hear about it!
(Oh, also, looking mostly for offline games, though I wouldnt be totally against experimenting with something online if the learning curve is more forgiving (Call of Duty need not apply, lol)
Favorite game of all time, favorite game in recent years, or just something you’ve enjoyed a lot. I want to start playing different stuff so I’ll give almost anything a chance.
Thank you all so much for the recommendations and support! Incredible.
Hey guys,
I’ve been playing Rimworld lately and absolutely loving it, but I’ve also got this itch to play something where you adventure to the outside world, maybe do some exploring, fighting monsters or resource gathering and then coming home to a town or base that I can upgrade. maybe craft new equipment for myself and then repeat this process.
I know something like Minecraft fits this bill but I was thinking something with more structure and RPG Elements to it?
